I ordered from aloha bbq for delivery. Within about five minutes of placing my online order, I realized I needed to cancel it because of a situation that came up. I immediately called their listed number to notify them. I repeatedly called this number 65 times in attempt to cancel my order. Every time I called, it went to a voice-mail machine. Eventually, someone showed up with the food. I explained to her that I tried to call several times, showed her the calls on my phone, then called the number in front of her so that she could hear for herself. I politely explained I tried to cancel this order. Instead of apologizing for their phone being out of service or simply saying ok, she cursed me out at my door. She absolutely lost her mind and was extremely rude demanding that I explain why I needed to cancel my order. I am seriously shocked by how she reacted when I proved to her I attempted to cancel the order and showed her that their phone was not working. I’ll never ever order from this place ever again.

We were too lazy to get out of the house so we used Grub Hub to order our food. This spot popped up. We ordered a few plates with rice and Macaroni salad. The food was very basic. The Loco Moco wasn’t good. the patty was very dry and bland. Thank goodness, I ordered extra gravy as it was needed for the 2 thin, hard patties. The short ribs weren’t bad… but they were a bit chewy for me. The macaroni salad didn’t have a taste at all. It was very bland and«oniony». The garlic prawns wasn’t what we expected. We were hoping prawns that were cooked in garlic and butter, but it was battered and no taste of garlic whatsoever. Either they gave us the wrong order or they think sprinkling a little butter on the batter and calling it garlic prawns is how it should be done. Overall, this place was not that great. I would rather go for Hawaiian Drive In or Ono’s Hawaiian for something like this.

Clearly competing with the Hawaiian drive inn that opened on the same block many years ago. The food is average but the portion is a lot less than what they would give you at the other Hawaiian restaurant. I ordered for the healthy BBQ chicken and it only had ONE piece of chicken. How ridiculous for $ 8.25? One scoop of brown rice, 2 sliced tomatoes, and the rest was shredded cabbage. Looked like a lot when u open the box but when you dig in, you realize half the box is filled with shredded cabbage.

Reminds me of Dakines years ago. Although the place is cleaner than Hawaiian Drive Inn, it doesn’t mean the food is better. Taste wise Hawaiian Drive Inn over this spot

The best lamb kabobs I’ve ever had! Their combo plates are healthy portions and very meaty. These guys know meat!!! Their pork and chicken platter with rice is so good, you will be stuffed to the brim and wanting more. Their meat reminds me of growing up in a farm where it is readily available and most importantly fresh. The meats here are Always juicy and never dry. Delivery is always fast and on time.

I hate giving bad reviews, I honestly do. I normally go to Hawaiian Drive down a few blocks, sadly their delivery guy wasn’t there at the time therefore my little brother and I decided to order from this place. The food arrived within an hour which to me was reasonable, standard time to wait for the food. The woman who delivered my food handed me the food as if she was mad and to make matters worse my food was cold. I love experimenting and trying things out, I think this place is better is you eat there so you can enjoy a warm meal!

After waiting 30 minutes of waiting my food arrives cold. There wasn’t as much food as I was expecting and what was there was bland and unappetizing. The server does not offer water and is generally uninterested in the job. All in all coming here was a great disappointment. You would expect more from $ 10 a meal, but for Aloha it seems it’s too much to ask for.

I cannot believe how rude the woman behind the counter is, never going back!!! The woman behind the counter was on her phone, clearly having an argument(or she just always yells into the phone) in Chinese. Then she said they didn’t take American Express, but when it looked like I didn’t have another way to pay, she let me use my AmEx card. When I try to say ‘gee, thank you!’, even though I really had no reason to thank her for letting me use a payment method they have the ability to take, SHESHUSHEDME!!! I’m not kidding, she literally waved her hand at my face and kept yelling in Chinese. I was on a short lunch break, and didn’t have time to wait for other food, so I held my tongue, but when I got my order, I told her I thought it was extremely rude to shush a customer so she could talk on the phone, and that even though I live close by, I would NEVER come back there. Her response was to smile her fake-as-f#ck Chinese smile and say«Oh! Thank you!» like a total psychopath. No apology, no empathy, just another rude SF Asian who doesn’t care about anyone but themselves –_– I get that she may have been having a family emergency or something, but in that case, take time out to deal with your life. If you’re at work, and you want people to come back, have some basic courtesy and respect for your customers. Aloha my ass… definitely no island vibes here.

Good food for a good price. Portions are generous, which is hard to find in SF anymore. The establishment is clean and delivery is fast. I order regularly. It’s a good cheap lunch.

Really disappointed in this place. I ordered via Eat24: big mistake. I live relatively close to the restaurant. Less than an 8 min drive. My food took almost 2 hours to arrive. It was cold, the bread and fries were soggy and incredibly unappetizing. The chicken plate I ordered was half fat half chicken. They don’t even try to clean up the chicken, which made it inedible. I tried calling them multiple times and they were almost impossible to reach. They even hung up my calls various times. I’m NEVER ordering from this place again.

Hey brudda, it ain’t no joy ride to get here. Man, I’d climb a volcano for cheap Hawaiian eats, but we’re really talking about the Outer Mission. That’s one long ride on the increasingly aromatic MUNI14 line or a long march from the Balboa Park BART station. Or you could drive but what’s the fun in that? You can recognize the place from the bright orange awning. Aloha, brudda. Enter and there’s no doubt you’re in a fast food joint, and it takes a while to absorb the highly detailed menu on the wall. I saw the usual suspects like kahlua pork, spam musubi and loco moco but also a section of «healthier» plates and even Aloha Atkins BBQ plates for those eating low carb. That would not be me on that particular evening. Given all the choices, I went with the most predictable one for someone who hasn’t had authentic Hawaiian food in a while, the $ 8.75 «BBQ Mix Plate Plate»(their verbiage). For that bargain price, it was a hefty amount of food they put into my takeout carton, slabs of marinated barbecue beef, short ribs and chicken with two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad(photo: ). I’m not sure why they put it in a takeout carton since I told them I was eating there, or maybe they were cutting the middleman since they resumed I couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Think again, brudda. As I was gnawing on the surprisingly tender meat, I noticed they make saimin here. Saimin? Damn, I love saimin. Even I have my limits, sorta, but I can’t pass up saimin, can I? So once i was done with my BBQ plate, I ordered the $ 5.15 Aloha Saimin to go, another bargain and even the Spam Saimin was only $ 3.99. I took it home and ate it the following day reheated at work. It turned out the Aloha version contained pieces of barbecue beef and chicken atop soft wheat egg noodles swimming in a salty dashi broth(photo: ). Even reheated, it was pretty delicious. Just so you know, I would kick the best ramen out of bed for a bowl of saimin. That’s how much I like saimin. Anyway, the owners don’t look like Hawaiians, just a pleasant Asian family who didn’t speak much English. I’m sure I’ll take that bus ride again just for the saimin. FOOD — 3 stars… barbecue plate was middling even if the excess amount was impressive, the saimin was better but that may just be me AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… fast food central, baby SERVICE — 3 stars… very nice and very quiet TOTAL — 3 stars… is a trek to the Outer Mission worth it for some cheap Hawaiian food… let me try that saimin again

Not bad for the price especially when your on a budget. Cheaper then L&L. I didn’t have a bad experience, the 3tars is for cleanness(for now) my bbq mix plate could’ve been more meat in it, I got a half of shredded beef ribs, small piece of beef steak that looked like they were scraps &1 chicken that they cut in half to make it look like there was a lot of meat. My kids like there musubi, can’t beat the price for that it was under $ 6 for 3. My husband short ribs plate was very small, just 2 small slices of short ribs, rice and Mac, looked like they filled the plate up with cabbage. My daughter chicken katsu was good. Other then that, place is really good for the budget.

Ordered through Eat24. This place is a four minute drive away. I don’t have a car. They do. An hour-and-a-half later, my food arrives COLD. Aloha BBQ? More like Alo-hah FA-Q. .

Came here for the first time couple days ago with my brother. It was pretty dead when we came. There was couple other customers but left after we order food. This place has good selection of food to choose from based on the big menu board that they display on the wall by the tv. Things we got were: Bbq Chicken plate, regular size for about $ 7.25. The portion they give you is good amount. Taste wise, its average. Beef kebob for 1.25. It was tasty. Maybe cause this place was still new, the guy who was getting out order took forever to figure out what section the beef kebob until the woman worker had to help him. Maybe cause he probably usually does the delivery than the cashier. The prices for the food we got are not bad. Your average place for hawaiian food Service was slow… there wasnt no one else other than my brother and i. A place like this should be able to make their quick even when there wasnt any other customers. It was like their phone line was more busier from those who wanted to do pick up or delivery Place is clean and has plenty of spaces to sit I am nice enough to give this place a three stars

Let’s face it. When it comes to Hawaiian fast food chains/joints, the top three are Hawaiian Drive Inn, Ono, and L&L. Now there is a fourth that has opened up. Aloha BBQ was formerly Lin’s Café. Lin’s Café always had lots of customers come in for lunch, and I was considered a regular because the butcher always knew my order right when I walked in. They were super nice, and all the Asian contractors would come eat here. Aloha BBQ is nicely remodeled, colorful, and has plenty of seats. There is even a television in the center of the dining area that everyone can view. The chairs are comfortable, and the tables/floors are clean. The only negative thing that I can point out is that the menu is just too vast. There is too much selection, that it must put a strain on the cook(s) always having to prepare different dishes. From pot stickers to burgers, from egg rolls to fried rice, and from kebabs to onion rings, this place has it all. However, Gordan Ramsey would not approve. He would tell the owners to slim down the menu and focus on making a few, extraordinary dishes. Moving onto the food, I had the chicken katsu with a side of gravy. The katsu was cut thin, which allowed for a crispy exterior. The chicken was juicy, and the gravy served as a good dip. This place is high up there, but still not as good as the curry chicken katsu at Ono!

So glad I came across this place on Unilocal! One of the yummiest Hawaiian BBQ joints my boyfriend and I have had!!! I got the A4 half BBQ short ribs and half garlic shrimp and my boyfriend got the loco moco. My combo dish was just amazing! Great BBQ flavor on the short ribs, but that garlic shrimp though!!! On point! I’ve had a garlic shrimp dish in Hawaii and it was not like how I imagined, it was just straight up shrimp swimming in butter, disgusting!(no, I didn’t get to try the shrimp trucks there, yet). But anyways, Aloha BBQ, you can taste the garlic, greasy but not too greasy and the green onions gives it a nice flavor. I just wish they didnt give such a little amount of shrimp because I had to savor these!!! I thought they were that good! Le boyfriend’s loco moco was the first I ever tasted and it was delicious!(I only had one bite) but the egg was nicely cooked! And the plate itself was presented nicely! Its just a really heavy meal to have in the late morning. Both he and I agreed my plate was the one to get. Overall, my boyfriend and I are very happy we have a new joint to eat at where its hellla clean, reminds us of Hawaii a little, affordable and better yet, has great food!!! We will definitely be coming back! Keep up the great work Aloha BBQ!

Everyone has cravings, even my wallet. Yes, my wallet. Sometimes it craves a cheap and filling meal with leftovers(gotta stretch that dollah), and that sometimes came last week. Previously Lin’s Café(Chinese BBQ Deli & Restaurant), Aloha BBQ opened about 2 weeks ago, and thanks to Wilhelm Y.‘s FTR for putting it on my radar. The menu offers standard Hawaiian fast food fare of bbq, rice plates, musubi, burgers, saimin, and etc, however, they also have some Chinese dishes: egg rolls, potstickers, fried rice, etc. They also offer party trays. Prices are about $.50 — $ 2 more than longtime neighborhood favorite, Hawaiian Drive Inn which is just down the block. I don’t mind paying slightly higher prices but if you’re going to charge more than your competitor, you better one up them. The food is comparable(decent to fill your stomach but not something I crave) but the wait is twice as long. We ordered pick-up via the Unilocal app and it took 20 minutes in an empty restaurant(found parking in front). Hawaiian Drive Inn can churn out orders in less than 10 minutes with a line out the door. However, Aloha BBQ accepts credit cards AND they deliver. We ordered the A1: Seafood Combo w/Basa fish, fried shrimp &BBQ short ribs($ 8.75): and A4: Half & Half w/chicken katsu &BBQ short ribs($ 8.75): . It’s hard to phuck up fried foods so the chicken katsu was predictably decent albeit a tad dry. The accompanying sweet & sour gravy did help to provide some moisture so that was fine. The rice and mac is better than Hawaiian Drive Inn(not mushy). Avoid the short ribs which were insanely salty and laced with msg. I didn’t try any of the seafood so I can’t vouch for that. Portions were massive so we had plenty of leftovers for another meal but I also had to order some musubis as they’re my benchmark for testing any good Hawaiian restaurant. One word: pathetic: . They spam was pathetically thin compared to how much rice they pack in. I love rice and so do my thunder thighs but my goodness, please use less rice or use thicker cuts of spam. Not sure why there was only sauce on one musubi and not the others. Anyhow, we just ate the spam and tossed the rice. If you’re not picky, and looking for a cheap AzN restaurant that provides a filling meal with leftovers and accepts credit cards then Aloha BBQ may be for you. As far as one upping their competitor, it’s clean so you won’t leave with your face looking like Kim K’s greasy(I) on Paper mag(not hating, she has a nice bootylicious ass).

That was short lived! After eating here a second time I’m dropping my rating to a 3. This is a new Hawaiian BBQ restaurant located directly across the street from the Safeway supermarket near Geneva and Mission Streets. I was just walking by on my way to run some errands and was actually thinking about Hawaiian plate lunch but at another establishment further down the street. The menu here is much larger than my intended lunch spot with a wide assortment of Hawaiian BBQ lunch plates, Chinese and Hawaiian appetizers, musubi, barbecue bowls, burgers, saimin noodles or chow mein and more. In fact, it took me awhile to read through the menu and decide what I wanted to try. For my first order here I had the Hawaiian BBQ Beef( ) plate. It is the standard combination of sweet marinated beef on top of a pile of shredded cabbage with two scoops of steamed white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. It was quite good and very filling with the beef being leaner than most that I have had at other Hawaiian BBQ restaurants. My second visit began very annoyingly as the cash register attendant obviously did not understand his job very well. He did not know what was on the menu and how to input the items into the cash register repeatedly having to run to the back of the restaurant for assistance. I ordered 2 items and a soda and it took almost 10 minutes. The food delivery remained very fast however. Their Chef’s Curry Chicken Wings( ) had a faint scent of curry and absolutely zero curry flavor. The wings were not plucked clean and chicken hairs were highly visible on several of the wings. The exterior was hot and crispy but the wing had very little flavor. I also ordered the Loco Moco( ). Here they ask you how you’d like your eggs prepared, but since the worker couldn’t figure out the cash register system I ended up ordering my eggs over medium. The burgers are not hand formed like my usual Hawaiian place but more like the frozen beef patties you’d find in a supermarket freezer. The gravy was very salty. They have a big refrigerator full of sodas, water or juice. You order at the counter and your meal is ready in less than 10 minutes. Everything is served in compostable take-out containers with non compostable forks and knives. There is plenty of seating for up to 49 persons. There is currently one TV with a mounting rack next to it that I’m assuming will have another TV attached to it soon. Open daily 9:30AM to 10:00PM. Credit cards are accepted, but there is a $ 3 minimum. They do catering and they have delivery with a $ 20 minimum.
