I agree 100% with Jennifer imput. My son and I were blessed enough to have Amy work with us during some of the roughest years of our lives. Amy is a natural and my son and I still talk about her to this day! We haven’t seen her in 4 years and we still miss and love her!

After a very sudden and horrific crime my then 2 year-old witnessed, I was connected with the Child Trauma Research Project(CTRP) at San Francisco General Hospital where I met Amy Klatzkin. Amy Klatzkin was my little boy’s therapist for 18 months. At first, I doubted the process: My little boy was so traumatized by what he witnessed he literally stopped speaking. And the little bit of what I thought was«babbling» Amy recognized was my son speaking Mandarin(he went to a Mandarin daycare in the Richmond). Little by little, the process started, He at first shut down with any mention of the crime. But, then he began to act it out with toys and dolls and use single words or two or three-word sentences to express his fears and anxiety. All those thoughts and nightmares living in his head, he began to articulate and with each session, you could see him almost«cleanse» himself of those scary memories. I won’t lie: It was a process and a difficult one at that. Week by week, progress was measured in little thimblefuls. I would second-guess myself and wonder if just trying to «forget and move on» would be better than dredging it all up. Those fearful memories, however, don’t just disappear because you want them to. And after a few months, my little boy’s anxiety began to abate, he seemed joyful, at least at times. After a year, he was able to go to sleep on his own and sleep through the night. He began to talk in full sentences. He stopped acting out with me and classmates at his preschool. His severe separation anxiety, gone. Eighteen months later, my little boy was back. He is playful and spontaneous, the fear he once felt so intensely, now gone. He gets sad from time to time and we deal with each episode with occasional visits to Amy who’s now licensed and in private practice. Amy has an intuition with children that cannot be taught; she has a gift. If your child needs assistance and is having difficulty coping emotionally with whatever problem he has in his life(school, home, divorce, friends, something traumatic) please consider seeing Amy Klatzkin. To me and my little boy, Amy is a true Godsend, amazingly intuitive and gentle. The difference she made in my child’s life(and my own) can’t be quantified, it’s so great. Yes, the process doesn’t seem evident at first. But over time, even a few weeks, you’ll begin to see a difference in your child. Amy Klatzkin is truly an amazing child therapist.
