This place has potential! Totally recommend the beef noodle soup! The noodles were homemade and beef quite tender. It’s not on the menu but is pictured on the outside window. Savory Chinese crêpe a little dry but still good. Pork and chive dumplings were standard.

They need to hire another worker because they’re simply toooooooooo slow. I’ve been here 3 times and it was my first time dining there today. The waitress that waited on us kept forgetting our items and giving them to the other tables who came after us. When we asked she would apologize and tell us she’ll rush another order in for us. She didn’t give us the tea we asked for until she gave us the check. Ordered 3 things total and it took us a full hour. Food is okay but nothing special. I don’t think I’ll ever come back.

Went in for a nice order of the soup dumplings. They didn’t understand what I wanted and proceeded to give me an order of chicken noodle soup. I tried to ask them how many pieces in an order of dumplings and they didn’t understand. It was weird since one of the ladies working could understand and speak a good amount of English, but when it came to a simple question of how much it was and how many pieces in the order, they didn’t get it. I definitely get there is a language barrier and I respect that. It ended up with them just giving us our cash back with no sorry or anything! Literally just gave me the cash back and turned their back. Really wanted to try the food, but if they don’t understand my order I guess I will never know.

Such an unique addition to Irving Street! I’m no connoisseur when it comes to Northern Chinese food but I tried the Tianjin crepes for the first time here and I really liked it! Very tasty and I love the texture of the egg as a crêpe. What first drew me to this wonderful moms and pops shop is their cold appetizer station. From tofu noodle salad to pig ears to intestine, they offer a good 7 – 8 different variety daily. I love the concept of being able to order these items by the pound so you can get as little or as much as you want. Everything is reasonably priced too! We finally came in for a sit down meal earlier in the week. Quiet for a weeknight but very attentive. We ordered a few of our usual cold appetizers along with a beef noodle soup, Tianjin crêpe, pork and chives dumplings, and a green onion pancake. Wow, the noodle soup was delicious! Fresh chewy hand pulled noodles along with tender(generous too!) pieces of beef and a very tasty broth. It did have a little bit of an herbal after taste but we didn’t mind it at all. Overall, everything was good. Our least favorite was probably the green onion pancake but for only $ 1.50, we’re not complaining! It could use a bit more salt and some green onions but still tasty. If you are ever in the area, it’s a good place to pop your head into and see what’s cooking! :)

I really like their frozen dumpling and spicy beef tendons. Now I can enjoy the yumminess at home.

Well, they seem nice and food could be interesting. But if most of the menu is out by 3pm on tuesday then doesnt really make sense to go there and take the chance there isnt anything you want to eat available. More likely just didnt make enough rather than sold out and seems like the people who make the steamed dumplings are gone in the afternoon, so none of that either. Oh well. Alot of these places popping up in richmond too.

Pretty good spot. It is not really a sit-down restaurant and things are still a bit disorganized as it is mostly an one-woman show, but the food prepared is decent and more of home cooking than restaurant style.

Tianjin crêpe tastes good! But please notice that they mark the appetizers with per pound price. I didn’t notice that and they just served a plate without asking me how much I want. And I didn’t know the fact until the bill came. So make sure you specify the weight while ordering.

Really good authentic northern chinese food. Service needs work but it’s so cheap, and it’s on Irving Street, customers in general here are rude too… so what do you expect. The owners seem genuine and nice though. We had the dumplings, beef noodle soup, pig ears, and beef roll. None of the dishes were lacking, and were each very good. For all that food, it came out to only $ 28 and they gave really generous portions too. The dumplings were $ 6 for 18, which is unheard of since I usually pay around $ 9 for 10. I hope this business sticks around as we need more diversified chinese food in the bay area, not just cantonese food or mini-panda expresses.

The dumplings here are very filling & cheap, one order can satisfy at least 3 – 4 people :) The beef noodle soup is probably one of the best I’ve ever had in the bay area – generous servings of meat and al dente homemade noodles. Everything is cash only, btw. I came here with my sister in-law who actually grew up in northern China and she gave a big approval to this place. This restaurant also seems like it’s kept really clean, which is something you don’t see very often on Irving St. I think the only downside of my experience here was that the food took a little long to prepare, considering limited workers, but in the end it was so worth it. I’ll be coming back because 1) affordable prices 2) authenticity 3) friendly, hardworking people.

This place is CASHONLY. Just letting you know since there is no cash only sign in the store, and they won’t tell you until it’s time to pay. Please put a courtesy sign in a place where people can see it! Decent, cheap food. Nonexistent service, didn’t get our water glasses refilled the whole time, no one came by. I guess you get what you pay for.

Just okay, nothing super special. Went this past weekend with a few friends for lunch. We ordered the: –shen jian bao — pan fried buns –xiao long bao — soup dumplings –beef roll –crêpe with egg on it –soy milk –beef noodle soup Yes, I know it is a Chinese restaurant so I automatically lower my expectations for service but I must say this restaurant hit a new low by using paper plates for dine-in and not having«ice water» which means you must buy bottled if you’d like anything to drink with your meal. Also, the staff is really pushy, I mean I get it… they are new, but let people order what they want! Most of what they prepare for dine-in is frozen, confirmed by the fact that they go to the freezer to pull out items they are going to defrost for you and serve you. I felt the quality and flavor was just ok, nothing super special that would make me want to go again. They were out of xiao long bao. The soy milk was the smallest bowl I’d ever seen!

Everything was delicious home cooked food. This is the kind of food a Chinese moms would make without lots of salt and oil. The portions are large too. I suggest the pan fried pork bun and pig ears!

I love their Spicy beef Stripe and tendon, if you don’t eat spicy, u can just keep normal order, otherwise, you can ask them put hot oil in or more as you like! I don’t suggest their duck neck, it taste not good!

I’m very excited that there is finally a place in SF city selling Tianjin Crêpe which is a very famous traditional Chinese breakfast.(Another one is in Chinatown, Oakland) This is not a place like those prosaic tasteless Dim Sum places. Dumplings and Tianjin Crêpe are definitely what you need to try. As a Chinese, I can tell the flavour of their dishes is pretty authentic. This is the same flavour compared with the food in real China, not those orange chicken broccoli beef stuff.

Bei Fang Style sounds like an northern chinese eatery. once inside, the absence of tables. debunks this.idea.(maybe there’s a few, didn’t notice) it’s a prep food take out place. menu: baos, tea egg, marinated food. cold platter, frozen dumplings & pastry, jook. eats: tea eggs(2/1.5) –brown colored, not much taste, small size, just a boiled egg veggie bun(1.6) –lots of dough, fresh veggie filling, not a lot. take outs: –some items sold by weight, some sold by quantity. –friendly service, not a dim sum place, more like a northern chinese deli take out –delivery servicess available.
