Nice ambience? No. English understanding servers? Not really. Great home taste, inexpensive Thai food? Yes! I love this place because it’s convenient and food tends to be consistent. Their yellow pumpkin curry is pretty decent, but I tend to always get the beef with eggplant #23. Had their duck dish once and the duck tasted very stale, more likely it’s duck that has been roasted from somewhere else and kept for awhile. Tip# Hungry? If you get a plate or noodle entrée, ask to include the combo for an extra $ 4, which is a personal sized coconut or sweet ‘n sour soup AND one fried spring roll.

Absolutely love this place! I’m from San Diego but went to college up here and this has been my go to Thai restaurant. Every time I pay a visit up to the Bay I have to stop by. This last trip I went two nights in a row I love it so much! The pad see ew and the yellow curry are my two favorites! The noodles are so tasty and the portion is a very generous amount. The yellow curry is flavorful and not too spicy(I can’t handle spicy food!). My spouse’s favorite is the duck fried rice. This place is whole in the wall but that’s part of the charm. I mean, it’s in the heart of Haight, what do you expect? The food is very reasonably priced. Overall, I definitely recommend eating here!!!

Just ordered a to go order there and freaking idiot waitress there gave me the wrong order!!! My bad for not double checking, but it’s 8pm you can’t give me the right order?!! If I lived closer I’d walk back and throw it in their faces! I don’t like anything in the order they gave me. Thanks for wasting my money. Never ordering again!

Don’t recommend pad thai. Sticky noodles and not much flavor. Yellow curry is spicy for the non spice lovers regardless of what the staff says. Don’t even think about the red or green if you can’t handle the yellow as the server said those are actually spicy. The server was nice and there’s lots of homeless outside in the area depending on the day. Appetizers are just as expensive as an entrée so it’s not really worth it from my perspective. Not to say it probably doesn’t taste good … just doesn’t really make sense. 3 spring rolls shouldn’t equal a plate of noodles.

Name of business says it all. As far as i’m concerned this really is the best dining Thailand has to offer. I personally am a curry junkie and will typically order the green or yellow curry dish and wash it down with a delicious and healthy thailand iced tea

Was craving Thai on Saturday night, saw this place across the street, decided to stop by. Let just say my noodle soup tasted like water with a chili aftertaste. I feel like they stole my money. DONOTTRYTHENOODLESOUP! I can’t say much about other dishes though.

I’ve been going here for several times now, and I never had any problems. The service is actually pretty fast, and they always bring a tasty meal. I’ve ordered things from Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Panang Curry to Tom Kha; they always turned out great. They’re really chill about the service, and would not really talk to you as much, but that’s what I prefer. They bring you your food, and you eat a delicious meal, and you go on your way feeling satisfied. Although, I may agree with some people that this place may not be the cleanest place, but it’s not that bad overall.

I’m a complete foodie and I’ve had PLENTY of Thai food in my life ranging from countless restaurants to home cooked meals. I was very disappointed with their food. We ordered about 7 dishes and only 3 of them were decent. We like the larb, chicken wings, and the papaya salad. Everything else tasted like they poured a cup sugar into it and we asked for medium spicy flavor. It was weird and it was late so we had really no choice, but to eat here. Sadly, I will never be coming back here again. We should have just made our drive to Osha Thai, where I am never disappointed, no matter which location I eat it.

I recommend going to the Department of Health’s website before going to any establishment, especially this one. Based on my food poisoning, I’d guess they have not fixed the violations they were cited for May 2015: Foods not protected from contamination Moderate Risk — Improper food labeling or menu misrepresentation Low Risk — Unapproved or unmaintained equipment or utensils Low Risk — Moderate risk food holding temperature Moderate Risk —

We were having a family friend over and wanted to get Thai food delivered. We tried a good mix of food and all of it was delicious!(Pad Ses Ew for noodles, the Panang Curry, the Tom Kha soup, and papaya salad.) Totally cheap, too. Came to around $ 40 for four dishes… I’ve walked by this spot many times and was never that crazy about the atmosphere, though. So take out was my preference.

So good! I had the the #31(duck with sweet bean sauce) and the fried banana with ice cream. Great service; May was my server and she was fast and fantastic! :) Very flavorful and tasty.

My fiancé and I ended up here after looking for a cheap bite that was close to where we were sight-seeing in Haight Ashbury. It’s not a bad spot for yummy food, but the restaurant itself seemed pretty dirty, especially the bathroom. So, I’m not surprised by the reviews that discuss poor sanitation and a cockroach in food. The service is pretty no-frills, just bring you your food, but I’m alright with that. I ordered a yellow curry because I’m a wimp, and my fiancé had the pad thai. He really liked his dish, and so did I! It’s a perfect curry for people who love the flavors of Thai food but can’t handle the heat. The flavors were well-balanced, with hints of sour and sweet, and I love the inclusion of mushrooms in the curry. Not sure if this is common with Thai curry, but I haven’t seen it in other curries I’ve had before! However, while the food was pretty great, it’s still not so amazing that I’d call this place a favorite or go out of my way to come back for more. Overall, it was an okay experience in a somewhat dirty restaurant for a really reasonable price. With a little TLC and cleaning, this place could be a gem!

I was planning to go to my current favorite Thai spot on Haight, Ploy 2, but was a bit early for lunch and they don’t open until noon. I decided to walk around for a bit until they opened, but then found this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I’m a super Thai food fan… like Pokemon, I wanna try them all! For each new Thai spot I find, I order phad thai or pad see ew and a Thai iced tea. This time, it was phad thai and a Thai iced tea. Service was quick, only taking about 10 minutes. The portion size was good. My dish contained a good proportion of meat and tofu, something that is often skimped on at lesser establishments. There are many variations of the sauce used in phad thai. I happen to like mine with a good marriage of tamarind and fish sauce. This dish had a good tamarind flavor, but perhaps slightly heavy on the fish sauce. The noodles were thinner than usual and plentiful. Unfortunately, they were a bit clumpy and stuck together. I can’t fault this too much though, as I ordered to go. The chicken appeared to be cooked, but had a slightly weird taste to it, so I stopped eating it halfway through my meal. The tofu was good, but had hints of dirty oil or else a slightly burnt taste from being in the fryer too long. I don’t necessarily mind this, as sometimes that flavor can work similar to charring on a BBQ. The Thai tea was good, very flavorful and had an interesting cheeky twang to it. I may try this restaurant again, but I’m not sure it will be my first choice if Ploy 2 is open. For reference, my favorite Thai restaurant in SF is Jitlada. All my Thai reviews are compared to this gem.

There’s a lot of mixed reviews about this place I haven’t had a bad experience here yet so I guess I’m lucky :) I always order their Panang curry(chicken) so tasty with a hint of spicyness Try their Pad See Ew(beef) enough for 2 – 3 to share I’ve never really ordered anything else when coming here, because I do notice a lot of bad reviews regarding their flavorless pad thai and concerns about the cleanliness of the restaurant. Focus on the interior of the restaurant. Needs a deep cleaning for the most part.

Do NOT go here if your thinking it’s the best Thai ! It’s not ! I got pad Thai chicken and it was not good, most popular dish in Thai food and it had NO flavor, chicken looked cut up and not appealing. I also order a Thai ice coffee and I was not happy. Service was not good. No waters given, I asked twice and barley able to speak English which was a struggle to communicate. Never again will I eat there, also place needs a dust and good clean !

I don’t remember the thai food being good. The fried banana with ice cream was ok. The dessert roti tasted savory. It’s probably because they use the same oil to fry their food.

I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to eat, but I knew I had to eat something so I didn’t go crazy at Haight Street Market nearby for groceries. After wandering around a bit, I decided to eat here. The décor is pretty cool. There are lots of rock and roll posters, and a guitar. I guess the owner is a big fan of that music. It was empty, so I got to order right away. I got No. 29: Thai fried rice with pineapple and raisins, tofu and veggies, along with a Thai Iced Tea. The rice was ok. I don’t think they used day old rice because it was wet. And the pineapple didn’t taste like anything, which was very off putting. I did like the raises and cashews. And the tomatoes tasted really good! But it would’ve been nice to get pineapple flavor, which it severely lacked. Service was very quick since I was the only one their. My total meal, including tip, was around $ 12. After reading the Unilocal reviews, it seems like the fried banana with ice cream is their best dish. Maybe I’ll come back someday to get Pad Thai and that dessert.

LOVE! This greasy spoon, it always comes through. The pad see www with chicken is great. #24, can’t remember the name, is great. I wish that chicken cutlet was offered with other sides.

Food = good. Noodles! Noodle soup = Sliced Roasted Pork, Fish Meatballs, Sliced Fish Cake, And Ground Pork. Delicious. Needs more salt.(Very rare for me to suggest that!) Really hit the spot on a rainy day in the Haight. Wonton With Roasted Pork = delicious and hits the spot. Service = friendly Prices = moderate

Wow. I must have forgotten what a crappy meal I had last time I was here, because I had the same thing happen again today. I ordered to go, an order of wonton soup and Rad Na. When I arrived, the rad na was in a soup container, even though it’s not soup. I inquired about it and they said it was to keep the noodles from absorbing the juice. Isn’t that the idea, kind of? Anyway, when I was done I was left with an inch of soup in my bowl. There was nary a bean to be found, and it was flavorless. Next I open the wonton soup only to find the wonton wrappers have completely dissolved in the soup. Also, there was easily a quarter cup of minced garlic sitting on the top of it. Over all just a disgusting meal and certainly not worth the money.
