I’ve been coming here for years and figured that I might as well start a Unilocal page for them. First off, it’s a depot. That means that they receive donations from large biotech companies of things like laboratory equipment, some office supplies and LOTS of laboratory consumables(pipet tips, reservoirs, slides, beakers, etc). Dave runs the place and is truly the nicest guy. We all show up every two months or so, get a round of quick speeches going over the ground rules(every gets stuff, nobody runs). We take the next hour or so picking through boxes and supplies to gather as much as we need/want. Each of us spends the remaining time cleaning up. It’s all put out graciously for us by a different set of volunteers(I’ve taken a sick day to help out as well), so it’s up to us to put it all back, sort through for trash and dump it, etc. We all take a quick inventory of our stuff, write it on the back of our registration form along with our best estimate of the cost and give it back so they can have tax benefits at the end of the year and receive grants to continue running the place. It’s great for older teachers like me, and it’s great for absolute beginning teachers as well! I’ve gone to probably 25+ giveaways here over the years and will continue to infinitely.
