I saw the mobile the other day as I was walking with HRD takeout in my hand. I walked up, but you know nobody needed my blood after that meal. I also saw the mobile around Halloween by Academy of Art(really specific location, I know). One of the workers was standing outside dressed as Dracula. They should dress up more often. Isn’t Cinco de Mayo coming up? Dead mariachi band. Do some Tito Puente while you take my blood. I know those two are from different countries. But no, they’re not. Because one blood!

Blood Centers of the Pacific has a mobile team that sets up at remote sites to receive donations. Three times a year it sets up in the office building in which I work, and I’m a regular donor. The convenience factor couldn’t be better and, not so coincidentally, the appearances are spaced four months apart(three donations/year is recommended). I’ve never had a bad experience. The staff is nice, and no one’s every butchered my arm/veins(knock on wood!). And they have a good supply of treats(juice, cookies, pretzles, cereal bars, etc.) in the«cool down» area. I do have one complaint. To date, I’ve only done the basic blood donation. Several times, however, I’ve experienced pretty hardcore pressure to do more – the double red cell process. And maybe I will some day but 1. I’m not sure I’m totally comfortable with that right now, and 2. I’m usually rushed and what they want me to do takes a lot longer. But the reason I don’t want to do it is irrelevant. When I go there to voluntarily donate my blood, it’s fine for them to ask if I want to do the double reds. But then if I say«not today,» they need to let it drop and not make me feel like crap for being such a «bad person» by not doing more.
