Blu Dot

My wife and I had been looking for «the perfect» bench to complete our newly remodeled living room. We found what we were looking for on the Blu Dot web site. Immediately after entering the store, we were greeted with a friendly hello and and a smile. After seeing the bench in person, we agreed that it was indeed «the one». Jim, the manager, helped us refine our choice by showing us different fabric and leg options. Just to be certain, he sent us home with some fabric swatches. I made the call to Jim the next day to complete the purchase. As promised, it arrived in a week’s time. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of where to make the purchase or what we bought. It is «the perfect» bench. Thank you Jim and Blu Dot!

The bed looks nice. It was a very large pain to put together. In addition, the mattress has not arrived yet. Please note that if you order a mattress from this website, it does not come in the same shipment. So we are in a new house, sleeping on air mattress on a a $ 3000 bed. There were also delivery problems with the bed itself. It was scheduled to be delivered, and they did not to call to let us know they had decided not to deliver.

I purchased a Paramount sectional and a few smaller items from Blu Dot on Nov 5, in-​store with the manager. I was told that everything would arrive before Thanksgiving, and my purchase order similarly stated that everything was in stock and would ship in 3 – 5 business days.
After seven inquiries by me, multiple excuses by them that the furniture was being custom-​made by small businesses (despite them being in-​stock at the time of purchase), and one attempted delivery of the 2-​piece sectional in 2 DIFFERENT COLORS, I finally received my order three days after New Years.
Because of this delay in delivery, Blu Dot staff agreed to a partial refund of my order… and promptly stopped communicating with me when I asked them to follow through. It wasn’t until I finally filed a $ 300 dispute with my credit card today, Feb 24, that they immediately started paying attention and issued my refund to finalize the transaction.
Blu Dot staff means well, but they are hugely disorganized and ineffective. Because I cannot afford to waste 3.5 months completing a sofa purchase, I will be looking elsewhere for my furniture from now on.

Caveat emptor!
I wish I had looked at the Unilocal reviews before committing to purchasing a simple item (a table lamp). It was to be shipped out within 3 – 5 business days of purchase. That was four months ago.
After several unanswered emails to the SF store (don’t bother emailing them, they will NEVER respond) and about 10 phone calls to track the status of the order (because never once did they ever proactively call or email me to tell me that the ship date was being delayed), I gave up and cancelled the order. ZERO stars for their unresponsiveness.

I’m a big fan of design and craftsmanship of BluDot. What’s not to love? Five stars for design. I really wanted to leave a 5-​star review … BUT:
Non-​design related feedback and the reason for two stars:
* Their beds need more slats. We had to buy $ 100 worth of extra wood slats to fill in-​between the slats their beds provided in order to get the correct support for our mattress.
* Also, their delivery service had us waiting three different times before they finally showed up when they said they would to deliver our bed.
BluDot apologized profusely about the delivery mixup and offered 20% off our next purchase, we’ll see if they make good on this.

Happy with their products, service and the delivery process. Got a floor sample sales + a nice dinning table and other items. Excellent customer service and deliver what they promised.

Expensive furniture, low quality. We bought the Grotto sofa in Basalt and while we love the look of the sofa, the feathers in the cushions keep coming out. When they start poking out, they are sharp and they hurt. Then by the end of the week, I am vacuuming at least 10 feathers off the ground. Oh and don’t bother writing a review on the actual website because they censor them. My review never got posted while a 5 star review for the same sofa was approved.

Despite the fact that they have pretty cool stuff, and in person the people are nice enough, the custom service is terrible. We had no notice that anything had shipped (even though the store told us it would show up in 2 days). They did not ship us our entire order. When we called to say we didn’t want that item anyhow, and to please give us a refund, I was told someone will call me back. They did not. I called them again the next day, and was told I’d see the refund in 2 days. A week later I called again to say I never saw the refund, was told I’d get either a call back or an email within the next hour. Of course I did not hear back, and now 2 days later, I’m still not seeing a refund. I’m now thinking I have to physically go in just to get my money back.

I was ready to drop a few thousand dollars based on their website and videos describing the quality and designing of their products (in particular, the Wicket Chair and stools), but am glad I made the special trip to see their furniture in store. Although I love modern and transitional styles, I found their chairs and counter stools to be uncomfortable. Cushions that were described as pillows that conform to your body were hard and uninviting. I was prepared to love them, but … disappointing product.

Living near Valencia Street as I do, I have walked past and admired Blu Dot’s showroom many times. When it came time to refurnish my place, they were my go-​to stop for my rug, a lamp, and a bed. Their style is fantastic but that’s not why they get a 5 star review. Their prices were more than reasonable but that’s not why they get a 5 star review. Their staff were incredibly helpful and even enthusiastic about helping me pick out my pieces, but even that’s not why they get a 5 star review.
They get a 5 star review because when my furniture arrived it had been severely damaged during shipping. Wait… 5 stars for damaged furniture, you say? Absolutely! Because it was the way they handled it that caused me to give them a Unilocal review.
Their store manager Jim had helped me picking out my pieces. I ordered my furniture a week before Christmas and he rushed my order through the home office to make sure it shipped in time for my holiday company. He took a personal interest in making sure it got done and making sure he kept me up to date on the shipping progress. Top marks there.
Then when it arrived damaged I popped down to the showroom to let him know about my damaged bed (a fault of the shipping company, not Blu Dot). He was perfect in handling it: «Look, let’s do this. If you can get it put together tonight, do that so you have something to sleep on. I’ll put an immediate order in for a replacement. That’ll arrive in a week and I’ll have my white glove service come to your place and take apart and swap the broken parts. You shouldn’t have to assemble it twice. My guys will handle that. You just make sure you’ve got something that works for now and for your guests and we’ll have it sorted out in no time.»
Sure enough… it was sorted out in no time. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to handle it. So based on my existing admiration of their furniture style, my positive experience placing the initial order, and Jim’s above-​and-​beyond handling of the shipping company’s screw up, if I could give 6 stars I would.

Shipped the wrong color of furniture, and we tried calling and emailing to get it exchanged, after 3 weeks still have no luck in getting it done. They always said that they will call us back to update on a date and time to come and exchange our furniture, and then disappears.

I can’t recommend Blu Dot.
I emailed them a question about their furniture via their website and was never answered.

5 stars for Taylor’s customer service !! The store is beautiful and I’d take 1 of everything if I had the space !! So far a dining table a consol table and the couchoid sofa … All in white … Love everthing I have purchased and like I said at the beginning of my review Taylor has taken great care of me and delt with any issues and me being a pain, in the most timely efficient manner ! Thanks Taylor and blu dot for standing behind your beautifully designed products!

This large store with modern organic-​feeling furniture is fun to look through.
Extremely heavy solid wood occasional tables, sleek metal entertainment tables, basic simple coat racks in colors, and tubular metal floor lamps are just a few of the very contemporary pieces you will find here.
I especially liked the wall mirrors in a variety of shapes that have a hole in them for hanging on the chic wooden hanger. Very simple, clean lines and good quality.
I also liked the metal chairs that came in solid copper. Those would make a statement and they were comfortable.
When I visit this store, I feel I’m on Melrose Ave. in LA. Or Robertson.
