I saw the movie, «Dogfight» at the Bridge back in the late 80’s. The Bridge had some of the best popcorn ever… good bye to yet another classic theater closing in San Francisco.

Fare thee well, dear Bridge Theatre. I’ll never forget you.

Single-​screen art theater. Perfect if you want to watch trendier indie films that are usually very well received. Not as good if you want to watch generic blockbuster hits. Bridge isn’t as cheap as you’d expect an art theater such as this to be, but the atmosphere is perfect, the sound and projection are great, and the popcorn is pretty good. It will probably never be anyone’s main go-​to theater, but instead serve as the place to watch films you can’t see elsewhere.

If you were wondering where the cutest guy who ever scooped corn works, it’s here and his name is Mike.
I love the Bridge. Excellent selections of movies (and other events).
And all cuteness aside, they seriously do have the best the popcorn.

The Bridge is an old art house. It’s not a ornate movie palace, but an old neighborhood screen that seats about 400 moviegoers. Thankfully, it’s not one of those super long and narrow auditoriums, although the screen is a bit narrow for the depth of the hall.
The projection was clean, the sound a bit distorted but nothing awful, and the seats were new and comfortable. The projectionist introduced the film like at an Arclight, but there were still too many ads/​previews. They have a tsweet tsunami tsign in the bathroom (see pic) which adds to the charm of this place.
I can’t complain about the programming content as I saw a documentary that made festival rounds and has probably at runs on two screens in the entire United States.

We went to Bridge Theatre on Geary & Blvd to see «Jiro Dreams of Sushi». We took the 38 bus there, just walked a bit.
Movie theatre has been in the neighborhood for 70+ years! It’s those old one theatre places, no theatre seating, rocking chairs, etc.
Ticket price was $ 10.50 per adult.
Popcorn prices: Small $ 5.5; Medium $ 6.50; Large $ 7.50
Soda $ 4.25; $ 4.50; $ 4.75
Movie was fine, gotta read subtitles.
Separate bathrooms. Women’s had 2 stalls/​1 sink.

I remember coming to the Bridge Theater way back in ’02 for a screening of ‘One Hour Photo’ starring Robin Williams. Fast forward ten years and the Bridge was the only theater screening ‘The Human Centipede 2′. And it’s safe to say that absolutely nothing has changed at the Bridge.
The theater has some major history, but does not make it a great theater. The movie house only has one auditorium and is large in size, but has made no improvements throughout the decades of movie projection advancements. Sound is mediocre and as far as the seats go, bring your own cushion. I do like its nostalgia aspect, but I like my comfy, modern megaplexes as well. The film had a measly 90 minute running time and my ass was done in the first 25 minutes.
The staff is playful and hosted a ‘Human Centipede’ game before the film, but I have no idea why they made us watch a film produced by an employee. It was a horrible piece of garbage that should be thrown on to YouTube and not screened to paying customers. I’ll come back to the Bridge, as long as no other theater is screening what I’m trying to watch.

Great little movie theater. I’ve seen some indie films here but I was most impressed that they hosted a student film festival for San Francisco Unified School District elementary students. Thank you for supporting the community!

I hate watching movies. I get so, so bored by them.
Date night rolls around, and I’m out of ideas because I’m a slightly boring person. Luckily, I saw a trailer for ‘Win Win’ and looked it up, and it was only showing in three theaters in San Francisco. Bridge was one of them, so I ordered tickets online for the latest showing. Boom. Done.
After dinner and ice cream in the Richmond district, we headed to Bridge Theatre and scored a parking spot directly across the street (it was around 9:30 PM on a Saturday night). Parking was generally pretty easy in this area, since it’s a bit away from the hub of the Inner Richmond.
Inside, I gave them my credit card that I used to purchase the tickets online, she printed out our tickets, and we headed inside the theater. It was definitely an old theater with the super plush red velvet curtains and non-​stadium seating. Sure, the seats are slightly less comfortable than ones that recline, but I didn’t find them too bad.
The lady came and introduced the movie (!) and thanked everyone for coming. The curtains rolled to the side and the lights dimmed, and it felt like a throwback to the era of. well. old movies.
Definitely a great experience for a quiet, casual date night, as it’s not as crowded and sterile as most of the modern movie theaters. I really appreciate that this theater is still around!

So happy that this independent landmark still survives! They show documentaries & other great events you won’t see at an AMC or Century. Glad I was able to catch Inside Job before it went public.
There is only 1 theater, but its pretty big. The concession offers a delightful menu thats both healthy & sinful. If you answer their trivia question, you get a free tub of popcorn! Support your local business!

This single-​screen theater is a lovely, antique gem. Not antique as in
‘stuffy junk’, but as in ‘charming collectable’. The exterior fooled me into thinking this would be a tiny theater with limited seating. Surprsingly, it’s quite spacious with ample seating. The staff was quite possibly the nicest staff I’ve ever come across. Maybe I’ve just been in a very good mood every time I come here. Tickets and snacks are sold at the one and only counter patrons see upon entering: efficient; I love it.

The Bridge shows fantastic indie films but serves them up one at a time to savor on its single screen. Like my fellow Unilocalers, I too appreciate the personalized intro to each film — it’s a nice touch. And who doesn’t love treats for trivia prowess? I had the pleasure of seeing La Mission here — and the Q&A session with the director was an unexpected delight.
The benefit of being surrounded by a non-​riff-​raffy crowd of moviegoers unequivocally outweighs any improvements that could be done to the chairs. Do I prefer seats with movable armrests so I can snuggle my honey? Yes! Would I rather see a movie surrounded by drunken Marina folk or obnoxious teenagers at a multiplex? Definitely not!
The clean bathroom earns The Bridge bonus points. And street parking for evening performances is usually available within one block — super easy!

Could you imagine me as a Independent-​film watcher?
The only movies I would watch involve a comic book character. But every now and then, watching an Indy-​film is a good change than my usual.
Any movie that is filmed in San Francisco or any parts of the Bay Area, I’m also there to see the flick. And «La Mission» is the only movie currently showing at the small historic San Francisco theatre. I was able to watch the first show at 5pm for $ 8.00, which is the matinée price.
I don’t watch too many movies, but the movie I was watching had an unusual plot and story. I’m not going too much more on the movie and let you see for yourself.
The seats need a serious upholstery and immediate upgrade. I wish I had my $ 3,000 recliner with me every where I go.
But the theatre is a landmark and I hope the facility stays around. Maybe one day, they will get around and get a facelift.

Built in 1939 & operated by Landmark since 1991, the Bridge Theatre is conveniently & centrally located in the Inner Richmond District. It was named after the Golden Gate bridge which was built two years before, it is one of San Francisco’s most beloved single-​screen movie palaces, featuring independent films & foreign language cinema since the 1950s.

«Um, we’d like to make a couple of announcements before we start our film but even before that, we have a set of keys found on the floor of the lobby in front of the concession stand!»
The man held up said keys. No one moved or raised their hand to claim them. I assumed he was yelling so the people in the back of the theater could hear him.
«It’s uh, it’s uh got some stuff on it,» he continued and eyed the keys for defining traits.
«It’s got a Hello Kitty on it! A Hello Kitty dressed as a… umm, I think she’s dressed as pig!»
I raised my hand.

Our other local Art theater.
Smaller theather shows cool art and non Pop films.
Décor: cool Art deco feeling, look for the Art deco drinking fountain in the lobby.
Smaller concession stand with pop corn, imported candies, etc.
Parking: street only, if you’re lucky.
Worth checking out.

One of 5 Landmark Theatres in SF that promote Independent and International films… the only reason I still go to the movies =) cause Hollywood sucks (!)
Came through to take part in the opening night of Justin Lin’s «Finishing the Game,» a comedic-​satire that portrays the attempt of finding the next Bruce Lee to complete The Game of Death.
Supposedly, Landmark moved the opening of the film from Embarcadero to the Bridge as it has a higher capacity… but I was quite surprised it was done only two days before the opening. anyhow, both evening shows were sold out.
It was great being apart of all the excitement of the opening as the Asian American community really came out to support the film and many of the cast and Justin himself were out to observe its reception in the city.
The Bridge staff did a great job of organizing the packed house, even though they didn’t seem all that informed on the film… oh well, they did know how to balance the butter between the middle and top of my popcorn and have Izze beverages– ahhh!
Asian-​american actors can be three-​dimensional characters– not just food delivery boys, harlots, martial arts masters, race rocket kids and model minority (good catch seong!!)
