Great philly. soft bread. outside seating. open till 2am !! This place has all sorts of pros to it. When I went it didn’t take long but I am sure this place gets packed at night since its on Broadway and open late. Sucks how they charge 30cents for EACHTOPPING if you want«the works» minus one star because of this* most places only charge Extra for big toppings like jalapeños avocado bacon or extra meat but I guess they can get away with that since they are on Broadway. The few other options around are pizza Chinese or Italian if you want to dish out some extra $$$ Anyway I enjoyed my meal here, just wish the waitress would have asked me what kind of cheese I wanted.

Thanks to tv commercial for reminding my worse experience. This place is soo stinky. Sit by the counter and look at the kitchen, look at the frying oil. It is black, it is filthy!!! Flat griddle next to the fryer is also the same. Because of the area this might be a good spot for late night drunk people or drug heads. «Unlike our competitors we get our bread delivered daily» says the woman on TV. How stupid? Don’t you have anything else to say? As if it’s a big deal to have your bread delivered daily.

This place has been my go to for cheese steak satisfaction for some time now. However, this last time I went I don’t know what happened. They changed the lighting so it is very bright now. They were playing horrible music. The cook was the same but the people working I had never seen before. The girl who took my order seemed like she was brand new. My fries were underdone by the guy who pulled them out and the cheese steak was not nearly as good as it has been before. They were definitely not as busy as they usually are. I asked if they were under new management and I had a hard time getting a straight answer. Something has definitely happened.

Forgot my jalapeños in the Phillapeno and witnessed the cook not giving a shit when I ordered cheese on the side of my fries. Otherwise, salty and average subs. I would definitely reconsider late night food.

It was raining and we were late to our flight and needed a quick bite to eat. Glad we chose this place. The cheese steak and the garlic cheese fries had so much flavor. The place is pretty small but hey, the food’s great!

I love this place! I order here at least once a month. Tonight, I ordered my usual Mushroom Cheesesteak for a friend and I. The food arrived hot and fast, as usual. As I unwrapped my sandwich, I miscalculated its position on the table and the sandwich fell on the floor! I called Busters to ask if I could purchase another sandwich, but avoid the delivery minimum. Busters instead delivered me a fresh sandwich free of charge! And it was still amazing! I will continue to buy from here as often as my body will allow.

Who goes out for burgers on Christmas. That’s right this guy. Yeah it’s a whole in the wall but I’d rather eat here then anyone of those spruced up turds in the Bay Area. Fries were great and the burgers too serves was super

Fast, easy, fair prices. This is a pretty casual place that does just what you want. Meat cooking up right there in front of you. Longish bar at which to sit and eat. Few cold beers in the fridge. Served its purpose. My belly was lined, and I went away happy.

This isn’t a good cheesesteak. This is a good thing to scarf down drunkenly while you and your bros are broing it up in bro beach. If you’re looking for the classic Amoroso Roll, Philly style cheesesteak, you won’t find it here. Really lacks the«it» factor that makes cheesesteaks so awesome and addicting. I would say hard pass.

Best cheese steak in Northern Cali. I also really dug the Chicago dog, super good fresh hot dog with all the fixings & the prices are reasonable. It’s a great little spot to sit, eat and people watch from the counter facing the sidewalk or a small table out front. This is down to earth East Coast comfort food folks so the grease should be welcomed & expected ! Fugettaboutit

Buster’s a another one of the typical late night jaunts after an evening on Broadway with the crew. When you walk in you will have a sensory overload of the smell of grilled onions and peppers and of course, the steak. Depending on what time you arrive you will get a decent cheesesteak or a sloppy-steak, that will assist you in your quest to sober up. Mind you the onions and peppers will cost you extra. Yeah, that’s right, things that are standard fare at other similar establishments will cost you extra duckets here… A point deduction by the Philly judge. I have been lucky enough to get several A-OK steaks so I can’t complain, however I must say it’s not my first choice when it comes to fulfilling that craving that you get every now and then for a classic Philly cheesesteak. With that being said I am sure I will find myself here again, and I won’t hesitate to order up another grease laden cheesesteak hoping it allows me a chance to head back to the bar for another round… Great service + late hours + a good sandwich = a place worth giving a shot. Now the ball is in your court. You make the call.

Tourist trap! They must pay Unilocal to keep thier reviews good beacuse it is a tourist trap! The fries tasted like they had not changed the oil in a month– un edible! $ 18.50 for a large chesse steak(which was dry and very salty on an old piece of bread) fries and a soda? Are you fricking kidding me? With all the great«grub huts» in north beach — this i «greasy garage food» should be avoided llike a parking ticket! Oh my aching colon …

reminds me of visiting Philly with my grandpa when I was younger. Last time that I traveled, I had a layover in the philly airport and ate a cheesesteak that wasn’t even half as good as busters, so I ate at busters as soon as I got back to SF. A+

The Chili Dog definitely has something going for it. Wasn’t too hungry and for about $ 5 – 6 definitely filled the hole in my belly that was left from a long day of SF tourism. The best part is the variety of sauces they have at the counter. everything from super spicy to tangy to sweet and sour and everything in between! The Louisiana sauce was the kicker… definitely throw whatever you feel like on your cheesesteak/dog and see whats what!

Busters… I can sum up how much I adore this place. Buster’s Cheesesteaks have totally heightened my expectations of what a great cheesesteak should be and is. The best part is this isn’t a Cheesesteak joint in Philadelphia, it sits between Columbus and Vallejo in San Francisco’s own«North Beach» neighborhood. Let’s get this review started! I first visited Buster’s back in 2008 with some buddies. We decided to have some fun outside of our normal fun, so we decided to take in SF. To be honest I was eger to go to San Francisco that day, because it was going in, the daytime, also it wasn’t Pier 39. So an all around great day. We got hungry while walking around North Beach. And wanted something… down to earth so to speak. My friend suggested a place he stopped by while on his lunch break… this is where he started a love affair between myself and Buster’s. We walked to the small yet great smelling Cheesesteak shop, I was excited because I happen to love cheesesteaks, especially good ones. So I ordered what now would grow to become my regular… I ordered a large Mushroom Cheesesteak with added Bacon and Swiss Cheese(btw I don’t like cheese wiz so. there) and a Pabst Blue Ribbon. Nothing better than a juicy, greasy, meaty cheesy sandwich with a nice cold brew to go along with it! My first bite made me forget all about the Cheesesteak Shop, like they have. good cheesesteaks, but, Buster’s have great Chessesteaks. This is what a Cheesesteak is suppose to be. This is a real deal Philly Cheesesteak in California. The meat was prefect, it wasn’t too thin or salty like I’ve had at some places. The added bacon was crispy and the grilled onions still had that light crunch…“FOODGASM”(Food & Orgasm) The Large is indeed large, I was indeed full and then hungry again about 2 hours later. Guess what I and my buddies and I did… went back for another round. Round 2FIGHT! I got the samething but small… The small wasn’t much smaller. I wasn’t disappointed though, this place was great enough for me to come back twice in a day. I took the second to go though, they say this about cheesesteaks«If the bag doesn’t get soggy from the greese and juicyness. It’s not a Cheesesteak!» This all happened may I add! The prices here are amazing, they also have burgers and veggie burgers for the non meat eaters. They have regular or garlic fries, which you can have smothered with chili or cheese or both! This place is just perfect all around… In conclusion, Buster’s «is» probably going to be the best cheesesteak you’ve had in Northern California. If not point me out to better! Bold me saying that, but it’s true. I recommend them if you want something different then what the usual North Beach eating options are. Go in Hungry and Leave Full! That’s Buster’s! And as always Unilocal your own experience. If you like it Unilocal about it. Even if you don’t, Unilocal about it!

The philly cheesesteak tasted how a real philly cheesestake should. The consistency was on point.(: Would definitely recommend and it was a plus that the delivery charge was free(might have been because of our location, but still yay!) The chili cheese fries were also really good, they came in a chinese food takeout box which I found really fun. Those things also unfold into plates so woohoo for convenience. The food is really heavy so think carefully before you order or be prepared to have leftovers. It was really great American Diner food!

It’s like a eating a heart attack in your mouth! This place was the only thing open after 11PM near my motel. Got the Large North Beach Cheese Steak and Garlic Fries. The cheese steak was pretty good, but really greasy. Also I felt like the sandwich needed more flavor. It was not a problem for me since they had over 6+ different sauces for you on the side just in case there wasn’t enough flavor. As for the garlic fries, I asked for extra garlic and there was still barely any garlic in it. It was fine, I had the extra 6+ sauces to help me out. As for the seating, this places is REALLYREALLY small. Like 6 seats inside and 2 tables outside. I got a table outside. From what I saw, most of the people who come here get it Togo. If I was in the area again, I would come back. It’s a prefect way to end a night of walking around the city all day.

Due to its late night hours and proximity to North Beach’s finest watering holes, Buster’s is a prime spot for late night eats. Years ago, when I lived nearby, I would preemptively go to Buster’s after the bar so as to attempt salvage my productivity for the next day. It didn’t always work, but I thoroughly enjoyed the attempt. On my recent visit, my wife and I visited Buster’s after her work holiday party’s afterparty. We both ordered regular Phillapeno Cheesesteak Sandwiches. I did because I love spicy food, and she did because she loves to live in the moment. I chose steak and she chose chicken. After receiving the sandwich, I added hot sauce and BBQ sauce because I tend to find cheesesteaks bland without any sauce. The Buster’s crowd waiting in line is always quite lively late at night. They were blasting music by Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, so I saw some smiles and head bobs as a result. With respect to the food, the cheesesteak hit the spot. It was very spicy. My wife tapped out due to spice, and she didn’t add the additional hot sauce as I had. I powered through because, as I mentioned, I love spicy food. I also dislike wasting food more than I love spicy food. Ate the wife’s leftovers the next day.

I had my first ever cheese steak experience in Philadelphia when I was 15 years ago. My first encounter with the Philly Cheesesteak was just like the time I lost my virginity. My experience was memorable, beautiful, engaging, tantalizing and smelled delicious. Since then I been trying to find a restaurant in the West Coast that would revive my first cheesesteak impression. Others have come close, others have failed miserably. Unfortunately for me, my visit to Buster’s Cheesesteak falls short of my expectations. Upon setting foot inside Buster’s late Saturday night, they had a sign on the counter that said«No more burgers». That already caused some doubt in my mind, how could management be ill-prepared and not have enough burgers on a busy weekend evening? Lucky for me, I was there for a cheesesteak. I was helped by a young woman at the counter and I ordered the Mushroom Cheesesteak Sandwich with cheese whiz and an order of cheese fries. As I received my order, I realized everything smelled so good. Sadly that was the peak of my cheesesteak experience. As good as it smelled, the execution of my sandwich was flawed. 1) My sandwich came with provolone cheese, not the cheese whiz that I ordered. 2) The roll/bread that it came in was too tough to chew. I like the soft amoroso rolls. The rolls here are too leathery, depressing my experience a little bit more. Everything else was fine. The steak and the mushrooms that accompanied it were grilled perfectly and abundant. The cheesefries were placed in a giant chinese take-out box and doused with cheese on top. I love to eat unhealthy food when I know it’s delicious or addicting. Sadly, I feel that the cheesesteaks at Buster’s are not worth eating and getting fat over.
