I walked by Café La Taza when I first arrived today and was excited to see the great reviews as it’s right around the corner from my hotel. I went for dinner. The place was empty at 7:30pm on a Saturday night. Gal behind the counter was friendly but preoccupied with what appeared to be closing duties. I ordered the«grilled» salmon, crispy brusell sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. I’ve had better from a grocery store deli. So disappointed. Mashed potatoes had been poorly reheated. Crispy brusell sprouts were just that — no yummy brusell sprout taste to these burnt offerings coated in an overpowering sweet marmalade. Salmon was sub par but I’ll give it a plus for actually being hot. The whole time I was there the staff emptied garbage cans(bare handed, the same hands that brought my dinner) within 10′ of me, snapped bags and generally made it unappetizing to eat. All could have been forgiven with a good glass of $ 8 wine. Alas, the bottle was grabbed from a shelf beneath the counter, far in the back, and I knew(although hoped otherwise) that it had been there for a while. My fears were not unfounded. Drat. Ick. Perhaps breakfast and lunch are the way to go here. Pass on dinner.

First time at this place… I ordered their Thai chicken with a spinach wrap. I was so delish! I ordered over the phone for pick up. My food was ready ready and waiting for me when I got there. Everyone was really nice and friendly there. I would totally recommend this place if your are in the downtown area and want a quick bite to eat!

Breakfast and lunch are the best meals at Café la Taza. For breakfast, get the huevos rancheros(fab ratatouille). For lunch, there are a variety of pretty tasty salads with meat. And the sometimes I just want meat and beans — the churrassco is perfect for those days and so is this place!

Stopped in for dinner because the 4 of us couldn’t decide where to eat. We got the Cubano sandwich with housemate pickles, roasted chicken with spinach & roasted garlic bread pudding, grilled salmon with crispy Brussels sprouts & mashed potatoes, and an arugula salad with avocado. Everything was fresh & delicious, and pretty inexpensive(although we are from Maui, so might be biased). We are totally going back for breakfast in the morning — their breakfast burritos & sandwiches look amazing!

Nice hidden gem! Found it while exploring area my hotel. Took friends there next morning and everyone loved it. Had scrabbled eggs«Post» with peppers, ham … etc. Great find! Plus it was under $ 12 bucks.

Café de la Taza is located down the street from Morton’s Steakhouse near Union Square. They were open early and we stopped in for a quick bite and coffee to start our day. I ordered a blueberry scone with the Mexican mocha. He had the Orange mocha with a raspberry scone. They have breakfast burritos here but we opted to go light for breakfast. Our drinks were made to order but the service was efficient. The minimum for credit cards is $ 4 but that’s easy to do if you order a specialty drink. They have seating if you are inclined to dine in but most people grab and go.

Quite busy and small but got to say one of the best salmons I have ever eaten!!! The fried sprouts where out of this world with the sauce!!! Credit where credits due! Presentation looked awesome as well! Looked like a dish served at a 5 star hotel but tasted so much better!!!

This was my first time going here on the recommendation of a coworker. Amazing recommendation!!! This place is great. I ordered the Thai Chicken Wrap and somewhere from the ordering to the kitchen there was a mix up in what I ordered… they fixed it for me at no extra charge! What amazing customer service! Totally coming back to try more!

The Mexican mocha is the best. Can’t find this at Starbucks. Not to mention the sausalito scramble burrito with smoked chicken mango jalapeño sausage!!!

Short and Sweet! It’s small, they have a pretty big menu for the size, I had an Orange Mocha? Weird, but great! Very sweet. The smallest size would be sufficient.

I left my heart at the Café La Taza Castro location… but this one will do :) Admittedly, there is a delta in quality /taste between the Post St. and Castro venues, but I’ll take what I can get. Legit spot for fresh salads, wraps, entrees, plus a bounty of breakfast options to boot! Size wise, it’s a bit tight inside, but still reasonable space if you want to eat in vs carry out. Generous portions and more than reasonable price points. No complaints here!

Omg. I’ve just had the best sandwich of my life!!! It was so orgasmic! !! I want another one but I’m full lol. It was the grilled salmon sandwich. It had different yummy flavors and they all meshed together and it was savory, salty, warm soft and gooshy! Haha. It had capers, lemon aoli, and the salmon was perfection. Omg it was amazing. So other than that, even though this place is in the middle of union square, it’s not filled with tourists. It’s really chill with people reading and doing schoolwork, which is cool. It reminds me of the coffee shops of the 90’s, where people would go there not just to eat but also to chill, so the vibe is comfy and cool. Plus there are cute houseplants around, and there’s an upstairs seating area. I love it!

I’ve been here on three different occasions and finally felt compelled to write a review. They are ok. Just OK and a bit overpriced for the quality of their food and customer service. Two out of three times I have visited here, the person at the cash register hasn’t been too friendly and I think I am a pretty friendly person! I expect a teeny smile when overspending on food. Here is an overview of my orders: 1. $ 17 for a bowl of tomato soup, small caesar salad and a can of soda. Crazy price for this kind of lunch but I went ahead and ordered anyway. Tomato soup was by far the most watery tomato soup I’ve tried but it may be just my taste that I like it a bit thicker. The salad was presented well but was a bit overdressed and the croutons were terrible. Can of soda was… a can of soda. 2. Hot chocolate — Their hot chocolate is good. 3. Sandwich — This was a while ago but I remember it tasted good but was still overpriced considering I could have went to Boudin’s and spent less for the same type of sandwich. My recommendation — Good place to stop for coffee, hot chocolate and a small pastry but I would go elsewhere for lunch.

We needed grab something quick to eat before leaving the city so we ended up here. My boyfriend came here two years ago and said it was pretty good so why not. It’s a really tiny café near Union Square. You order downstairs and seat yourselves either downstairs or upstairs. I recommend sitting upstairs because it is a bit more spacious. The menu consists of coffee drinks, some breakfast items as well as sandwiches, salads and wraps. I got the California Chicken Sandwich while my boyfriend got the Asian Chicken Salad. The food itself came out pretty fast. My sandwich came with homemade potato chips that were light and crispy. The sandwich itself was decent but not memorable. I just liked the ciabatta bread they used and the fact that they used large pieces of chicken for my sandwich. My boyfriends Asian Chicken Salad was whatever. Really not worth getting for the price of $ 12, I believe. The chicken they used in his salad was extremely dry and it was overall a really plain salad. Just lettuce, a little bit of cucumbers, dry chicken and a bunch of crunchy rice noodle topping on top. Sooooo yeah like I said, we we’re kind of in a rush. I probably wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone for sandwiches or salads. Can’t say for the other items they offer though.

Wow! Just tried their Grilled Salmon sandwich on Dutch crunch and it was amazeballs! Their home-made chips go well with this meal too.

Leckere Frühstücks-Varianten. Man darf sich nicht durch den ersten Blick täuschen lassen, oben gibt es auch noch Sitzmöglichkeiten. Alles wird frisch zubereitet und an den Platz gebracht.
