What I had: Red Velvet Cupcake Soy Chai Latte I would recommend the soy chai latte if you’re not a big coffee fan since it’s not bitter, but the cupcake was just alright. I thought the heart shaped foam on top of the soy chai latte was cute

Ordered my usual iced 1-pump Hazelnut Latte before I went to work. I had really high expectations for this café because of all the good reviews I read, but sadly, it didn’t come close. They packed so much ice into the cup that I could barely get my straw through to the bottom. I’m not a fan of sickly sweet coffee, hence me ordering my usual 1-pump latte. Regardless, my latte was still way too sweet(pretty sure it wasn’t only 1 pump). Don’t know if I’ll come back again, but if I do, I’ll go with the Chai Latte all these Unilocalers are raving about.

I have been here a few times for a simple order of a medium coffee. I ask for a «medium coffee with room, please.» I rarely, if ever, get room in my cup for cream. Minus points for that. Yesterday featured an event that will prevent me from getting coffee here unless I’m absolutely desperate. I ordered my normal medium coffee. I take it back to the office and I’m sipping on it for an hour or two before I realize that I’m not getting the caffeine I’m looking for. I get a different coffee from Starbucks down the block, and after a little while, I feel the effects of the caffeine. Café Amici gave me decaf! That’s just cruel and unusual punishment. I won’t be back.

Hot chocolate w eggnog is delicious! Nice service. Super cute tiny little coffee shop with some really excellent service. Love that they have some outdoor tables in the middle of the financial district. It’s unusual and entertaining.

Ordered the Soy Chai Tea Latte as recommended by most Unilocalers here. I have to be honest, I normally order hot chocolates in cafes, and am not an avid caffeine drinker(due to the taste) But, oh my goodness, the Soy Chai Tea Latte was realllllllyyy goood. It was absolutely delicious. It had a hint of vanilla, was the right amount of «hot» and had enough sugar to satisfy my taste buds. Will definitely frequent Caffe Amici for my Soy Chai Tea Latte fix.

I’m going to try to restrain myself and not be too rude on my review. I was in San Fran for a 2 day visit and was eager to try out this place solely based on the many reviewers who said this was the best chai soy latte they’ve had. We even walked 15 minutes out of our way to stop here. I’ve relied on Unilocal for many trips and many meals in NYC. I have rarely been disappointed. This place was the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had. Seriously, #1. And all I wanted was a damn soy chai latte, which I have come to absolutely love. I’ve had dozens of soy chai lattes in diferent cities, different places at home and this was literally one of the worst soy chai lattes I’ve ever had(and I’m pretty sure a regular milk chai latte would taste the same). If I wanted warmed up soy milk with a dash of chai powder, I would have asked for that. Inexcusable. I asked for a CHAI latte. Give me chai! Not just a gigantic cup of hot soy milk! Disgusting. It was so bad the Boy and I took one sip — I took several — and we threw them out. Hell even Starbucks makes a better soy chai latte. If you know what a soy chai latte is SUPPOSED to taste like, don’t come here.

Historical reviews demonstrate my bias for all things Italian; nonetheless, this is a solid 3 stars objectively I think(?) because(the order demonstrates descension of star-worthiness): 1) The location is great. 2) The food is great — my veggie panini was perfect. 3) The coffee is good, but the predecessor, Torrefaziane, was by and far better. 3) The servers have ‘tude. It’s like Argentinians trying to be Italian — the real deal is way better. 4) No bathroom. 5) No deal for refilling your coffee and being SF green. Maybe no bathroom is worse than no deal for refilling your coffee — but they actually kinda go together so I’ll say 4 – 5 are a tie. But I’ll prob be back, if only for #1.

The place makes the BEST Soy Chai Latte I have ever had in my life! Also, the service is fast because it’s not full of Financial District douchebags piled on top of each other the way all of the 457,345,874,3939 Starbucks locations in that neighborhood are. Come on guys! Forget about Starbucks and try Café Amici instead. The Soy Chai Latte may make you cast aside your corporate bloodsucking ways, don some Birkenstocks and appreciate life for once. Yes, it is that good.

This is a review by a vegetarian A very good chocolaty and creamy coco can be had here. Plus: alfajores in a glass jar next to the register. Neither worker knew what brand or bakery they were but they weren’t half bad. There are smokers outside and if the hot chocolate weren’t so good I would have ‘accidentally’ spilled some on them as a left.

Trying to wean yourself off crack? Or perhaps that nasty meth habit you picked up back in your gutter-punk days at 924 Gilman? Or maybe you’re just a 100%, lowdown gluttonous fat ass in the body of a yoga-mat-toting fidi goddess’s body(that would be moi *not*). Regardless of whether you’re trying to replace once addiction for another or just feed the fury in your ever-grumbling, frequently-neglected gut, Amici is now the top destination for you. I’m not talking the coffee, though it is delicious. I’m not talking the boringish selection of cookies they have on offer, I’m not even talking the sexy counter staff I’d go straight, gay, or bi-questioning for(not to mention the patrons…). I’m talking some CUPCAKES. No, I’m not usually a fan of these cloyingly cute, overdone creations but my god, Amici does it right. One bite of Red Velvet, Pumpkin Maple, or(the piece de resistance) Dulce de Lece, and you’ll be off the smack and back on track, albeit with a bigger bum and a nasty craving for their thick, creamy icing and crumbly, butter-licious cake. I’m totally hooked. So much so that today, upon discovering I’d left my wallet and credit cards at the gym(see? I really am a mat-toting goddess…), I practically FORCED a complete stranger to fork over around $ 7 for my two precious delicacies. And because I am a mat-toting fidi goddess, he did. I won’t be paying you back, friend. Girls like me never do. But my hips, my butt, and my bootylicious backside thank you. And you too, Amici. Keep it coming, Love. Keep it coming Love… don’t stop it now, don’t stop it now!(that was my tummy singing…).

Gotta give credit where credit’s due, my little Amici! A big 5-stars to Caffe Amici for their Latte — had a few now & they’re consistently super creamy w/the right coffee-to-milk ratio and heat is perfectly steaming hot w/out any tongue burning Throw in a dollop of honey from their condiments stand & we’re talking sweet, milky perfection! Go here for the lattes! PLUS — now it’s Fall, they’re offering a scrumptious-looking Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake… best I’ve had! Dense, moist, gingery, pumpkinny & intense choc!

Ohhhh… a heart shaped foam heart thingy to top off my latte… classy. I honestly think this is an undercover meat market. How could that many pretty people know to convene at 9:00am in the same location every morning. I barely get in under the radar. It’s only because I’m humble and don’t peacock. The coffee is delightful, but a bit more on the dessert end rather than hardcore like Peets, and the pastries are typical but good. I’d recommend their mocha, it really does taste like a little morning treat. I know that hott people don’t like to wait, so give yourself a little extra time in the morning because the line can get long.

It’s not Starbucks, Tully’s, or Peet’s, so plus one there. Free Wi-Fi, plus one again. Decent seating area with even some outside, another plus even if it is in the dark Financial district. Service — just OK. Maybe I had a trainee and perhaps her dismissive manner was from nerves, but that still doesn’t explain why neither the other counter person helping her, nor the woman who made/served the coffee couldn’t smile or act like they weren’t just counting down the clock. The coffee — again, just OK. Maybe it’s the beans, the roast they choose to use for the espresso, the way in which they brewed it, or the water. I don’t know, and I don’t really care. The coffee wasn’t anything special, being a little too acidic for espresso and a tinge burnt. Whenever I regret getting an Americano instead of just brewed coffee, I know I’ll probably go elsewhere next time.

You only leave out cream to put in your coffee? Lame. And it’s $.65 extra for soy milk, even if it’s just a little bit? Totally lame. And the tables are squished so close that you feel like your having your coffee with your neighbor? Well, I guess that would be fun for eves dropping. And just cause you work in the financial district, and yes I know it’s always dark and gloomy over there, doesn’t mean that you can’t smile, or act mildly friendly. Maybe it’s cause you are the only place open after 3:30 and you’re bitter about having to stay? Maybe it was just an off day.

Love their black coffee here. They also serve a variety of pastries, salads, and cupcakes. The line does get long in the morning so prepare yourself for the wait. Have a seat outside the café for a short gossip session =X

Still on a post-Obama inauguration high, me and some guy headed over here to get some caffeine before we created trouble in the city. Definitely a good time as we managed to hammer out a crossword puzzle, read Dear Abby, and I even wrote a limerick/poem. That last part wasn’t that great, but the high clouded my brain. They have a «dirt bomb» muffin(or a name similar to that, I can’t really remember as I had mimosas for breakfast), some other goodies, and cokes with the santas on them. Oh and the coffee wasn’t bad and at a reasonable price. They even did a little heart in my foam, which always impresses me. The place is tiny and I can imagine it gets crowded, but for a Tuesday morning, it was pretty bare. They also have tables outside. If I’m in the area, I’ll probably come here for coffee because I like supporting coffee shops that don’t start with an «S» or a «P.» I’m nice like that.

It was 12:45pm on a cold@ss Thursday. Lily and I both didn’t want to go back to work and decided to find somewhere to chill at to browse this coupon book we obtained from the farmer’s market. Amici looks cozy and a latte sounds great for a cold day. So we ordered a small latte each and kick it before we head back to the office. Wow. I didn’t care too much about the foam heart before since nice presentation doesn’t always equate to tastiness. But dayam! The heart foam is SOOOOSMOOOTH. That’s one of the best latte I ever had. Very creamy. I usually don’t like foam, but dayam their foam’s good. And how the heck did they make a heart like that? I’m very impress with Amici’s latte, and will definitely go back. The café is cozy, hey, maybe I’ll bring my harry potter and actually read it this time.

Excellent service and the best cupcakes in Downtown. Forget those $ 3 high-end cupcakes from Miette that always turns out dry. If you want real, humble cupcakes at only $ 2.50, come here. I am a bit biased because their red velvet tasted a little on the milky side and I like milk, but overall, all their cupcakes are moist.(Cupcakes are baked by Palio but sold here.) JONASAPPROVED!

The service and venue is excellent. I want to go back to try an espresso drink one day. For now though, I’m giving one star for location, one for nice staff and service, another for cleanliness and recycled products. The caf au lait was watery and empty. I could barely taste the coffee. I know what a caf au lait is and how to make it. You cannot go wrong with this drink, unless your drip coffee is extremely weak. Bummer.

I am currently drinking a 16oz non-fat double shot latte from Amici. I like the little heart on top in the foam. It makes me happy. Especially when I take my straw and stab it. Die little heart die! I will drink your soul! Muahahahahahha! Errr… did I mention it’s a double shot? Buzz buzz… for flavor, is okies. for style, it has flare, baby! Plus, it’s only two blocks away from work and they have those little cookies that while I have never gotten one, they look really good, stairing at me from their jar on the counter, with their beedly little err… coconut flakes. Okies then… do de do… oh, look! shiney!
