Note: I’m saying 5 stars for what it is, compared to other little cafes and things like it. I don’t have some kind of system where only gourmet places could ever possibly get a 5. I think that’s just unfair. They were quick, the ingredients were freshly prepared and tasty and they were very personable. Also, it’s a really beautiful old deco space that’s pretty much exactly as it was built forever ago. I love that about it – not a cookie cutter mccorporate place at all.

Ordered a latte for here but received it in a to-go cup because, they explained, they don’t have any glasses big enough. Absurd that a coffee shop doesn’t have glasses/mugs for the coffee on their menu! Pastries were processed, wrapped-in-plastic. Interesting décor, marble tables and floor, friendly staff.

I stopped by here in the morning for a latte to go. The caffe is super cute with ample seating, great natural light through bay window, and beautiful chandeliers. The coffee was good as well. I would have totally enjoyed meeting friends here for a cup of coffee. The only downside was that service wasn’t the fastest. I wouldn’t come here if I were in a huge hurry.

The best espresso I have had in SF. I definitely recommend there mocha, chai, and dirty chai. Plus, fantastic customer service. The owner and barista are very personal and the barista makes amazing drinks with amazing ingredients. I always come after the farmers market for a pick me up. I look forward to trying more things!

Great cappuccinos that I can honestly say I’ve had in a long while. The cappuccino was deep and complex, just like I remember the coffee I had in Europe. Classy and quiet atmosphere without the Starbucks/Philz kind of crowd. The service was A++.

A very cute gem in SoMa! Passed by it last night while it was closed and stopped in today. Good Americano and nice servers! The décor is very relaxing.

Caffe Trinity is definitely open, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for an elegant, leisurely place to have coffee and actually be able to relax and talk with a friend – or come alone and enjoy the beautiful chandeliers and paintings on glass. It feels like it should be on the Piazza San Marco, not U.N. Plaza. The coffee drinks are excellent and the service is very gracious.

This café is still open and well! I walked by this morning and had lunch there. It is small, but interior is gorgeous and people are nice. This is a good place to drop by for a short break or simple lunch. The only problem is that it is open only from 7am to 3pm.

Excellent cappuccino, very nice décor, and really professional service. It’s a small cozy place but one with a lot of class. Escape to Europe while strolling down Market! It’s a nice addition to the area.

I discovered Caffe Trinity a couple of years ago as my office is right down the street. Definite 5-star for the coffee and service! Although they are currently training some new staff members, they have a solid core group that greet me daily for my morning latte. They are however, a bit slower than the average coffee shop so don’t be in a hurry when you swing by. This is more of a relaxed atmosphere. But I walk past three coffee shops to get to this one — definitely the best in the Civic Center area! As far as lunch — why the 4-star — the food is exceptional but again, sometimes the selection is small or the sandwich you may be craving is not available. Bread is fantastic and tastes homemade!

Their mochas are really bad: they don’t use enough chocolate.

I’m going to give this place 5 stars because it’s 1) a convenient surprise when walking down market 2) warm 3) got great coffee and treats 4) a cool looking place with(real) patina-ed copper This old building is beautiful and a nice little place to duck into on a rainy day.

why call it a café when it’s only a caf-? café trinity has big potential, yet falls far short. the exterior looks real cool, and upon walking inside, i realized that’s where the cool stops and the whatever-ness starts. i played 20 questions with the guy behind the counter in order to find which sandwiches on the menu could actually be purchased and consumed by me at the time i was there. do you have sandwich #1? «no», ok, do you have #2? «nope». how about #3? hmm, yea we have that one! ok i’ll take that one, and i don’t think i’ll be back, the sandwiches were mediocre with above mediocre prices. the coffee followed suit.

Simply as a place to eat, Caffe Trinity would get only 2 stars. There’s a small selection of sandwiches and salads which are all pre-made and decidedly average. The coffee is nothing to write home about either. But it gets a major bonus star for the décor and architecture. It’s a tiny sliver of a place inside an obviously historic building, full of(as Joe G points out) «marble, dark wood, and trompe l’oeil wall paintings». Plus those tall bay windows looking out at Market St are too cool(though admittedly, there’s not much to look at). So, if you’re the exploring type, and you ever pass through the Civic Center Muni station, grab a latte here and soak up the graceful ambience for a minute(if you’re lucky they’ll be playing some pre-disco Bee Gees). But don’t bother with lunch.

i emerged from my free bart ride yesterday to see that the line in which i was about to stand and wait for my free conan o’brien tickets was about two blocks long. realizing quickly that i would be spending a majority of my day on my feet in the lovely california sun, i popped into the first café i could find to grab a little food. the men behind the counter at caffe trinity were quite kind and joked in a very sweet way with the customers. i ordered a three bean salad(kidney beans, garbanzo beans, and… well another kind of bean, parsley, and an oil vinaigrette), a small slice of coffee cake(crumbly top and all!), and a cup of coffee(surprise, surprise). while the salad was a little oily, it was quite fresh and mostly healthy! this little lunch made standing in line for three hours much more bearable. if you are in need of a quick lunch with no fuss– head to caffe trinity. the have a selection of about six salads, four different ready-made sandwiches, desserts, coffee, and more. a perfect place if you are in need of a temporary escape.

I guess Caffe Trinity has new owners, but the décor & food selection are basically the same as they have always been. The problem, though, is that the food isn’t very good anymore. I used to get good, fresh, large salads here. I ate there yesterday, and I was very disappointed. The«large» salad – which cost $ 7– consisted of a handful of mixed greens, a tablespoon of white beans, 4 tiny tomato slices, and a tablespoon of couscous. I hadn’t paid much attention while they were making the salad, but once I took it out of the bag, I was shocked at how little food I got for $ 7.00. Now I’m no portion queen, but if I’m ordering a «large» lunch salad, I expect to not be hungry after I finish it. After I finished this salad, I went out in search of more food. Also, I got a soy latte that was terrible. Couldn’t taste the coffee at all.

Just ran across this little place yesterday, and was surprised. No wider than a hallway, but packed with more style than union square. the floors, countertop and table tops are solid marble. the counter paneling and table stems are carved and inlayed hardwood. The chandeliers are esquisite blown glass. Everything in here must be left over from the 1930’s or something, because they ceratainly don’t make tiny coffee shops like this anymore. all the décor in here has quality way beyond it’s function. Unfortunately, on top of the counter was a note saying that they are closing on march 24th. a sad day, and I hope whoever takes over this spot preserves the interior, since I’m sure the whole spot is antique. oh yeah, and the coffee was pretty good, too.

This tiny café is an enclave of marble, dark wood, and trompe l’oeil wall paintings in the midst of UN Plaza. The tables, though lovely, are cramped for groups larger than 1, and the food is acceptable, priced above what you’d expect for the quality. The coffee and baked goods are very good, though.
