Amazing food! It’s a very small place with good old fashioned slow service, so make sure you make a reservation and definitely don’t be in a rush when you go. Follow those simple rules and you won’t be disappointed!

I absolutely love creole cuisine, so I was super excited to try this place, especially when there are such high ratings on Unilocal! At 8 pm, my friends and I were able to get a table easily. To start, you get chipotle cornbread, which are pretty small, but packed with flavor. Some bites were spicier than others, though. For my entrée, I chose the fried Cornish game hen with garlic mashed red potatoes and sweet potato gratin. The sides were just ok and kind of on the bland side. And the game hen was a big portion, but I expected it to be super crispy and classic. But it was drenched in a sweet sauce, which reminded me of Korean fried chicken. I just wanted a modern take on comfort food, but this was too far off the traditional.

Love this place! We moved in around here a while ago & have been meaning to visit. Finally got around to it last weekend & loved it! The food is plentiful and tasty in a home cooked type way, and the place itself is cute and atmospheric. We’re from England so everything about it is fairly exotic to us. Can’t wait to bring my mom when she visits!

I’ve been to Cajun Pacific about a half dozen times now and know what to expect: a delicious meal created and served by the friendly owners in a cozy, kitschy, little space that feels like the kitchen of their home. There’s only 3 staff, the restaurant is only open for dinner a couple of days a week and it gets full. If you have an issue with the kitchen sometimes being slow or sold out of something, service being hectic at times, or needing to squeeze in for people to get by you when entering/leaving the restaurant, then don’t eat here and then go bitch about it on Unilocal. If you think the price/portion ratios at a typical restaurant in the Mission is out of whack, you’ll think this is too. Consider yourself forewarned. What we’ve experienced at Cajun Pacific are owners that are good people who’ve treated us like old friends they are cooking for in their kitchen /living room. Here are some tips to make your experience more enjoyable: — Call ahead for reservations or go later(after 9) if you want to try to just catch a table — Don’t be freaked out if you have to wait outside for your table to open up or be set up — Start off by immediately ordering a bottle of wine. The prices for bottles are reasonable and if the kitchen or Stacey is slammed you can chill with some wine and take in the activity in the open kitchen. — The bread pudding is fantastic. I don’t consider myself much of a dessert — or a bread pudding fan for that matter. But it’s great here. Highly recommended.

We eat there last Friday. I was disappointed that some of the items highly recommended by others were not on the changed-weekly menu, but we found other things to try. My husband RAVED about his steak with blue cheese; said it was tender and yummy… it was also huge. My friend and I ordered the same entry, the shrimp, and different sides. The shrimp was handily served with tails pulled off and the sauce was tasty, but the shrimp was slightly overdone and a bit chewy. The greens were, to my palate, so salty that they were inedible. The sweet potato gratin was good enough, but tiny portion. Dessert, bread pudding was excellent. Service was relatively quick. While I would not go out of my way to go again, I would go again if asked. Having eaten in New Orleans, can say this wouldn’t really qualify as a Cajun place, but some items were Cajun-ish.

Location and originality are important. At least to the people who go here. Sometimes an escape to NoLA is only a few blocks away.

Wow… just wow! Crawfish pasta, scallops, house salad(with tobasco dressing), trout, mashed potato, ratatouille + bread pudding dessert… drool! Literally everything was SO good. From the inviting service to the incredible food. this is a must try! I absolutely adore this place and would be a top 5 restaurant recommendation. It’s unique, inviting and the food really is a 10⁄10. Love!

I’ve been coming here occasionally for years and should have reviewed long before. Had a really great dinner this past weekend so clearly they’re still doing everything right! I lived in NOLA for a long time and Cajun Pacific would fit in really well. It’s a little neighborhood restaurant, full of individual charm, from a place where even neighborhood restaurants persist through the decades and are required to have awesome food. Not trendy, not high-end, not low-end, it just is what it is(and that’s a great thing). One thing about NOLA food — it’s not all jambalaya and gumbo and gator, some of it is just solid Lousiana-tinged, butter-filled treatments of classics like pork chops, chicken, pasta, etc, and Cajun Pacific does this well. I had the oyster po-boy and gumbo and my wife had the Cornish hen. Both awesome. The good friends we were dining with — who, frankly, are pickier than I am and have been known to leave food on their plates — polished off two servings of BBQ shrimp and were practically licking the plates. Finished with some excellent bread pudding and we left happy. Minus one-tenth of a star for not sourcing some of the Louisiana beers, like Ghost in the Machine, Hopitoulas, and Jockamo, that might appeal to the West Coast IPA-lovers!

Overall this restaurant and experience was good. The food was good and service was fast as the restaurant was relatively empty. The dish selections were diverse. However, prices are high for the style and meal size.

My hands down favorite was the gumbo with cornbread. Just get it. They change the menu regularly, so be prepared to not find everything you read about. We ordered the crawfish pasta to share and it was awesome, a creamy sauce with good chunks of crawfish and parmesan cheese. We got other things for the table to share and things just have that great comfort-food taste. Will be back!

This is the kind of small. Intimate, hidden gem in San Francisco that I love. The place is small, service slow and attentive, food is very good. This is not an industrial restaurant so if you enjoy the intimacy, try it. We had the crawfish pasta, the Cajun shrimp, and the fish of the day, plus sides. All three of us tried everything from each other’s plate and agreed, this place is excellent. You can tell from the enthusiasm of others in the restaurant that they are there for the food. Only open on the weekends and you might need a reservation unless arriving late. I will be back!

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while, and I finally tried it with my mom recently. The place is pretty small, and you do feel a little cramped. It’s a small garage that’s split between the tables and an open kitchen, which is kind of cool. For an appetizer, we ordered the crab cakes. It was just okay in my opinion. It was too hard on the outside, and I didn’t really like the brown sugar butter sauce that came with it. I did like how there was a lot of crab meat inside though. I ordered the crawfish pasta for my main dish, which I enjoyed. The sauce was pretty heavy, but good. They were pretty generous with the amount of crawfish they put, but I don’t think that it was fresh. I also got to try my mom’s hangar steak, which was pretty good. The sauce on it was a bit salty though. This place is run by a couple. The guy cooks while his wife takes care of the customers. It does take a while for the food to come out since there was only one cook(15 mins for the appetizer and 40 mins for the entrée). The wife was very friendly and attentive when serving us. I wanted to give this place one more star, but it’s more likely that I won’t be coming back here.

$ 75 for scallops, étouffée pork chop, steak, glass of wine, and non-alcoholic beverage. Took well over 30 min for our entrees to arrive. That was just too long. Both meats were cooked perfectly. Pork chop was moist, but the sauce was a bit on the salty side. Both entrees were over $ 20, but I felt it should’ve been under. It’s a small neighborhood restaurant that gets busy, so I recommend making a reservation.

Ventured out to check out this unusually seated Cajun place and while it was worth the visit, I couldn’t see myself returning. The food fell short to make up for the distance traveled. They started us with a spicy mini cornbread muffin, it was terrific. The appetizer I chose was a goat cheese filled fried soft shell crab and I chose poorly, it was pretty bad and just tasted greasy. The crawfish pasta was really good, creamy and spicy, but not epic. Service was friendly, very much a family vibe.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a long time and finally made it out here now that I live a few blocks away. It’s only open on the weekends since the owner couple does catering during the week. The interior is tiny and only seats like 15 people, but I rather like the coziness with the NOLA décor. My very credible source deemed this place extremely authentic in flavor, so you really can’t go wrong with what you get. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, crawfish pasta, and the pork chop. The pork chop was pretty darn amazing. The dishes are a little pricey though, and takes a little while for the chef to churn each one out. Worth the wait though. PS: the complimentary cornbread is BOMB.

Sweet couple owns this spot. I wanted to love it. Only open couple times/week. 5 – 6 tables in the restaurant. The cornbread is spicy. I started with the fried green tomatoes+remoulade. Good stuff. I then had the stewed okra risotto. It was ok. The sweet potato gratin was just ok, on the greasy side:/ Not a lot of veggie options, so I wouldn’t go back.

Recommended by a friend of a friend it took me a year to finally try this place. They are only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday depending on the week; highly recommend checking the website for the schedule. Menu changes weekly but they do have house favorites. Call for a reservation! Cajun Pacific is a small restaurant where the dinning room and kitchen are all in the same room(diner style!!!) Seating is limited and while they do accept walk-ins, it is not guaranteed. Call ahead. You’ll be glad you did. Bring a date, because while sitting at one of the two seats at the bar with a book eating New Orleans barbecue shrimp and corn bread is satisfying enough on its own, it is better to share this awesome meal with someone you at least like. We tried the zucchini fritters with buttermilk dipping sauce, complimentary corn bread(made with cayenne making it taste like pork!) The barbecue shrimps thing, and Southern fried Cornish game hen(juicy delicious!) No dessert due to the bread pudding being made too late in the day, heard it was good, maybe next time. Only two guys cooking and one heck of a lady managing the floor and serving. A conversation at one table can soon become a full room discussion each person adding their comments. Feels like eating at a friends house, only exception is I have to pay for the meal instead of freeloading. You want to pay pay for this meal, it is well deserved and worth it! Friendly, personal, professional, good food. Nothing else needed. Just shut up and eat.

Trying gumbo at another cajun place and it really does not compare to cajun pacific’s glorious mouthfuls of spicy, flavorful, well seasoned gumbo. Every time I’ve tried gumbo elsewhere, I’ve always been disappointed. I’ve tried replicating their recipe from what I could pick up of the flavors in every spoonful, but I’m definitely missing the magic touch! Food is always spectacular here and packed with flavor. Service is excellent. Chef and kitchen staff are beyond excellent. Highly recommend.

So this restaurant is one of the first things that popped up when I searched«gumbo» in SF. And it’s right around the corner from my church so I decided to give it a try one Friday! However, I feel kinda bad writing this review because I believe if you don’t sit for a full meal at the restaurant, then you didn’t get the full experience. My friends and I stood for a maximum of 20 minutes in the tiny restaurant for a bowl of gumbo. There are probably a total of 10 small tables in the restaurant. It’s a very cramped space and you really have to watch where you’re swinging your purse when you maneuver around the tables and people. My friends and I stood in the vacant little corner by the counter as we watched the waitress(or owner?) cater to her full house of customers. When she finally had a moment, I sheepishly ordered one bowl of the gumbo. As I pulled out my card, she informed me they had a minimum of $ 20 for card. But the nice lady took our business anyway. That just blew me away. She totally didn’t have to do that. And just because of that, I will definitely go back. Even though the gumbo is not as good as I expected. It was more spicy than any other flavor. Kinda watery too. BUT I will go back and order more than $ 20 worth of food next time for the full experience and to try the other food.

Cute neighborhood place without too much frill. The place closes on the early side — the clientele eats early here in outer sunset. The gumbo didn’t disappoint. Very balanced in flavor with a hint of spiciness. Not too much rice, like how I like it. i would stay with the seafood selection here. The bbq shrimp is excellent and very fresh — as someone who is slightly allergic to shrimp, I had thee pieces of shrimp. The lamp chop is a bit overcooked — I would not recommend. The scallop with lardon was quite tasty with little gem scallop and bacon bits surrounding them. I was surprised how solid the wine by the glass selection was. I had both the albarino and malbec and really enjoyed both. Alborino was crisp and less sweet than the pinot gris. The malbec is quite smooth and mild without to much sugar flavor to cast over the original taste of the wine.
