Camping at the Presidio

Gorgeous cypress and eucalyptus everywhere… Very very large and quiet.
Spotted two tents pitched, but basically they fill up VERY EARLY, so prepare to pay over $ 100 and let the good times roll for all who camp!!!

This is a great place for a group camping event. We wanted to throw a barbecue birthday party where our guests could camp for the night. Rob Hill worked really well. We chose to do it on a Sunday night in late October, betting that we’d get less crowds and decent weather. Since the whole campground is new, it’s very well organized and clean, with big fire rings, clean bathrooms, and plenty of space for kids to run around. There’s a great view of the ocean nearby. Since it’s in the Presidio, come prepared for fog and cold weather. With a nice big fire and plenty of warm clothes, it was a very cool experience to watch the fog blow in through the trees. Note that with the cost being $ 100 for a site, Rob Hill is definitely intended for groups, not for individuals.

Came across this by accident yesterday on our hike. What a hidden gem. Room for at least 10 tents and nice restrooms accessible via combination punch pad.
Opened to the public, reservations are handled through the Crissy Field Center. The staff person indicated yesterday that weekends are booked solid through the end of the year; however, weekday sites are available. $ 100 per night is what she said, but you should confirm.
The only campground in SF proper.
