We are so grateful that we found Candace Cavanaugh and asked her to design our new kitchen and bathrooms. We wanted someone with a great eye for design and polish, yet with a practical approach to cost(spend only where it makes a difference) and an easy, comfortable working style. With Candace we hit the jackpot. She had great ideas and superb recommendations for everything from overall look and layout to individual knobs and pulls. She listens well — and seems to get supreme satisfaction from solving our problems with our aesthetic. Our building presented some major challenges. It is a beautiful 1926 building, and we wanted to preserve everything we could, and make the new design feel compatible with that style. As is typical with older buildings, there were some«surprises» with unexpected structural elements, immovable pipes, «fascinating» methods of wall construction, etc. Candace took everything in stride, and came up with great design solutions for each issue as it arose. We were doing this job from afar, and could be here only occasionally to inspect progress, so trust(in every sense — design, polish, integrity) was key, and we quickly learned we could trust Candace 100%. Also, we made the very good decision to hire her frequent collaborator Mario Rodighiero of Rodi Construction as our contractor. He was a great choice(see separate Unilocal review), and there was an added benefit in their superb teamwork — great communication, collaboration, and together they took full responsibility for every aspect of the project. We interviewed a lot of designers for this project, and now that the dust has settled(literally), we are thrilled that we decided to work with Candace. We would enthusiastically recommend her without reservation.

Candace is a gem. She is very knowledgeable and draws from a wide array of artistic and architectural influences, yet retains a totally unpretentious, accessible and fun personality. I am highly sensitive to my home environs and feel quite strongly about my own eclectic aesthetics. I know Candace’s personal taste is quite different than my own, and though I could have decorated my home without the services of a designer — I cannot recommend ENOUGH, how Candace’s guidance helped prevent me from regretting one decision I ultimately made. And she did enable me to feel that we were in charge(even though we almost always acceded to her opinions ultimately). Candace always is honest and ethical, and I appreciate her candid opinions and understanding of our sensibilities to both décor and budget. amazingly, Candace is as comfortable and pumped about shopping at Ikea, west elm, Pottery barn and Crate and Barrell as she is at very upscale and refined places in the exclusive designer markets. I always find Candace’s decisiveness to be free of ego but full of well-reasoned point of view. I love each of the 3 jobs we have completed with her help and am embarking on soliciting her consult for another soon. Whether you consider yourself«conservative», «traditional», «country», urban”, shabby-chic or absolutely the epitome of continental champagne taste, Candace is a lovely member of your team to have on your side. I count my blessings for her partnership in my design endeavors.

I’ve been working with Candace Cavanaugh Interiors for the past few years and she has been an absolute pleasure to work with. As a contractor in this business, we find it often difficult to work with designers and Architects, however, Candace has been the exception to the rule. We will continue to use her for projects both large and small. Mario Rodi, CEO Rodi Construction Inc
