Chase Bank

I had a very positive experience at this Chase branch. I needed a checking account and credit card for my new business and their business banker David was so friendly and very helpful. When I had questions afterward, he always followed up promptly for me, whether by email or gave me a call. Really first class service and their pricing and account features are great. Their current credit card promotions are recognized as the best. I highly recommend it. I don’t write many reviews on here because so many businesses have hundreds of reviews. But folks don’t seem to be all that passionate about banking and when I saw a lot of the older negative reviews I wanted to tell people about my positive experience.

ATM’s are located securely behind closed doors — bonus points for this amenity. The teller who helped me processed my transaction today was very nice and friendly. Nice spot for a Chase Bank Branch.

The teller at Chase was so nice today, I don’t remember his name – but he was so pleasant he made my day. Policies and mistakes, good or bad: these are all things you can count on happening at EVERY bank. Consistently wonderful people to come face-​to-​face with, that’s certainly a rare thing – and what I’ve found at Noe Valley Chase.

Everything got so much easier once I closed down all of my accounts here. Their strategy for trying to stop me from closing my accounts however was very frustrating. They made mistake after mistake when I was transferring funds. I do not want my bank making mistakes with my money! They made it nearly impossible for me to transfer my funds out of the accounts, I had to make 4 – 5 visits over 2 weeks to get it all worked out. They charge tons of fees and are sloppy, not a good characteristic for bank.
Switch to a credit union! You can avoid the fees and I’ve made more interest in 1 month than I did in a whole year at Chase.

I’ve always been a BofA customer and my wife uses Chase. They’re winning me over fast! Local branch manager was extremely helpful with some information over the phone and I love their ATMs

This bank is awful to deal with. Tellers are disrespectful and have attitude, manager is condescending, fees are inappropriate for this economy, and wait time for services is forever. I would suggest going somewhere else.

I used to have the pleasure of working at this branch and it is filled with the most wonderful and helpful staff you could ever ask for. I miss this branch and the customers I met while working here so much! This branch actually cares about their customers and that’s sometimes a hard thing to come by. Thank you Noe!

Chase’s Licensed Personal Banker, Tommy Kuwamoto expediently resolved my identity theft issues by closing my credit card account. Closing my credit card account stopped the E-​mail hackers/​thieves dead from ruining my credit. Nice. My credit history is safe with Chase!

How I wish you were still WAMU!
But your ATMs work beautifully, so I’ll cut you some slack.

If I could love a bank after the recession, I would love Chase. The ATMs are fabulous and a sign of the times. When you need to speak with a teller, they are smart, articulate (important!), and cheerful. Now I’ll admit I’ve created a SNAFU or five with my accounts, but this branch has made it all better. Always.

HORRIBLE!!! I lost my ATM card, and they were so rude!!! The tellers were nice, but they had to refer me to their manager. The manager was such a dick! I did not feel welcomed, I did not feel like I was being helped. I felt rushed, and just felt like an inconvenience to them. I’m taking my money out!

Any good that came out of my experience opening my new account was destroyed by the incompetence of one teller. Here’s my complaint letter to Chase:
I visited the Chase branch at 3998 24^th Street to open a new account. I had been pleased with my customer service experience when I banked with Chase previously in Chicago, and this is what drew me to open an account in San Francisco.
I did not experience the customer service I was previously familiar with through Chase. My new account session went well, but when I was directed to the teller, X, I found her customer service to be slow, incompetent and rude.
X is clearly a new employee, and I appreciate the learning process, but even for a new employee, her slowness was uncalled for. After making my initial deposit into my checking account, I requested a Chase gift card. I asked if this gift card could be used internationally, to which she responded, «I don’t know — that didn’t come up in my class.» An employee at the next teller station stepped in to answer that the card could be used internationally.
Another coworker stepped in to help X locate a box of gift cards, each containing a sixteen-​digit number. X’s coworker suggested that she write down the sixteen-​digit number on a piece of paper, so that she could look it up later on a 5-​page list of sixteen-​digit numbers in order to identify which card had been purchased. X asked her coworker if she could just look up the number while I was waiting, and her coworker responded, «If you want to waste the customer’s time, I guess you would do that». X then proceeded to look up the number of the gift card she was issuing me, and said to me, «You don’t have anywhere to be, right?» After a minute of unsuccessfully locating the number on my gift card, she gave up, and wrote down the number.
I informed X that I would prefer to pay with the gift card with my credit card, instead of using funds from my newly-​opened account. She said she didn’t know how to use my credit card to pay for the gift card, and encouraged me to use funds from my checking account. Finally, a coworker stepped in, and showed her how to complete the transaction using my credit card. When I presented my credit card (which is a Chase BART Rewards Card), she proclaimed, «BART??? I hate BART!» and provided me with a monologue about how BART is a rip off and she hates spending $ 6 on BART every day to get to work — all while she completed my transaction. I was so insulted by this whole interaction with X that I forgot about completing one additional transaction I wished to make before leaving the bank.
I had every intention of reaching out to the branch manager, Z, after this experience to express my concern about X’s customer service. The following Monday night, before I had a chance to call the branch, I noticed that a $ 10 transaction fee was charged to my Chase BART Rewards credit card. I called the credit card to dispute the charge, and learned it was a charge for a cash advance. Since the funds were released by the bank, I was told to call the bank to dispute this charge.
I called the bank on Tuesday morning, and told this story to Z, and requested that the transaction fee be waived. I had never been informed that my credit card would be run as a cash advance. I was never told that I would pay a transaction fee for paying for a gift card by credit card. I did not receive any paperwork that would have notified me of this transaction fee until after I was presented with the gift card (after signing the credit card slip to complete my purchase — the slip, by the way, also did not include the $ 10 transaction fee). Z told me that this fee could not be waived, but that he could offer me my first round of checks through Chase for free in order to make it up to me. This is not a satisfactory resolution, as I do not use paper checks. Z was unable to come up with another resolution. I requested that he notify all tellers to alert customers that their account will be charged a $ 10 transaction fee for a cash advance if they pay for their gift card with a credit card. If I had known this, I would have never paid for this gift card by using my credit card.
I have found that Z was unable to resolve my unsatisfactory customer service experience, nor was he or my Chase credit card customer service representative able to waive a fee that I don’t believe I should have to pay because I was not notified of the transaction fee at point of purchase.
I have been a long-​time customer of Chase, and have between $x — $x in investments with JP Morgan Chase. I also have a credit card in good standing with Chase. However, I am ready to close all of these accounts if this matter is not resolved to my satisfaction.

I have never experienced ATMs this slow. Painfully slow. So slow that other customers often complain about it too out loud when there is no one else around. Some times the service inside the branch is exceptional, but there have been times also when it has bordered on the rude. They seem to have gotten a lot better over the last year ore so though.

Choose another branch.
I opened a basic checking account there and it took forever. Every two minutes the banker needed to jump up and ask her manager for approval on something. A week after, they called me at 9am to ask if everything was ok, I was just so annoyed I said «sure.»
My «free checks» weren’t in my possession after two weeks, so when I went back, they just sent me more.
Their online banking is SO SLOW, it takes forever for transactions to appear (maybe not the branch’s fault, but still sucks compared to my last bank).

THIS IS AN UPDATE– Though I will leave the previous review up as well. … Very sadly, now that Washington Mutual has turned to chase, I hate it. … Such an incredible bummer that the nice guys got taken over by the bullies! (Though, the people who are forced to work here are still nice. Just the ‘company’ is not.)

NO JOKE— Multiple people remember me by NAME here! Seriously, I walk in and they welcome me, as if I am a well-​known celebrity or something. I have ONLY had great experiences every single time that I have stepped foot into this location of Wamu!!!

There is never a Wamu when you need one. I have encountered fees from other ATM’s because you can never find a wamu ATM in the city. Or if there is one you need to walk WAY out of your way to access one. I don’t have time for that and that is why I switched to BOA. Maybe once those Wamu ATM’s are at 18^th and Castro I will consider using them again

Sigh, you’re the prettiest of the WAMUs I’ve visited, but you’re probably the worst so far. And unless I somehow manage to get crabs or chlamydia from another location, you’ll probably remain at the bottom of the totem pole.
You’re nice to look at, but really, your service is so slow I could go through a pregnancy just waiting in that line.
I learned a long time ago that substance is more important than looks in men, and the same goes for banks if you ask me. The hotties are usually good for a quickie, but this bank doesn’t even give me that – it’s just a lethargic, sloppy, drunk mistake.

I had high hopes for WaMu.
I went into this Noe Valley branch on a weekday afternoon having allotted an hour to open an account and be on my way. There was only 1 employee at a podium. When it got to be my turn, I explained that I wanted to open an account. She directed me down a few steps where there were 4 or 5 desks with more employees on the phones (presumably for corporate banking or managers, etc.).
I proceeded to wait at least 30 minutes. To me, this was unacceptable. I’m a new customer. No other customers are waiting to open accounts, so why the wait? What else is more important than the profit machine before you? The only reason I put up with it is that I hate BOA and there really are no other good banking solutions in the Bay Area that have branches nationally.
Finally, an account rep asked me what I was doing there. We finally began the account process, but he was so flustered and clearly confused about options on accounts, and I had a meeting to get to, so I busted out of there. The rep gave me his card, but given my first visit, forget WaMu.

Used to be a fan, but not anymore.
Just last week there was a mistake made, via my employer, regarding my direct deposit. I called wamu and asked if I could give link a credit card to my checking account as to not incur any overdraft charges. They said no and gave no other options.
I then asked if I could link said checking account to a savings/​checking account at another bank. Again, the answer was no.
I asked if they could hold some payments I knew were going to post for 48 hours (time it will take to fix direct deposit error). And again, the answer was no.
So, wamu, will I continue banking with you?
No.

When I’m forced to visit the bank off-​line, this is where I head. Friendly staff, rarely a long wait.
