I just had my first experience on Chicken John’s Bus. It will definitely not be my last. We went on a NYE/Day trip up the coast. The original plan was to head to Pinnacles National Monument, but this changed due to weather. Thus, I must implore you, do not cancel plans for a ride with Chicken John because you are afraid of the weather, activities, etc. Chicken will find the interesting and the beautiful. You can count on it. You can also count on good company. Everyone was very friendly, responsibly irreverent, and a good time was had by all. Chicken took us to: Bodega Bay, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma and Napa Valleys, a fabulous bakery, a cozy sailboat, and other places I would never have found by myself. We ate a scrumptious breakfast(egg scrambles, potatoes, bacon, pancakes, toast and delicious jellies, coffee) and had plenty of time to enjoy the group, as well as wander off on our own. The bus is comfortable, with bench seats that fold down into«beds»(2) that comfortably sleep 12, two 4-person table booths, and padded lofts running the length of the bus on both walls for sleeping and storage. And the man is an absolute pro at the wheel! Ride the bus. Ride the bus. Ride the bus.

I just got back to NYC this morning(10-27-2010) from a weeklong singing tour with my choir. Chicken John drove to LAX and picked us all up in his Green Tortoise for the most amazing tour ever! Chicken John is reliable, honest and doesn’t mess around, no sirree! If you want to get to your place on time and with no BS, get Chicken John as your driver. He drove our choir from Los Angeles to San Francisco. We made all our connections on time and his bus was a joy to sleep in except when we all got sick but that was from a choirmate passing on his stomach bug to the rest of us. If I had to do again, hell yeah, Chicken John! and kudos also to the Spaz bus because they are good bus drivers as well. Ohh yeah, It’s a good thing to jump on the bus with the music blasting. His first navigator put us all in a happy happy mood with all her early eighties punk pop music. Yay Bus!

For those of you who have never taken one of Chicken John’s bus trips, it is something to experience. For those of you who do not know who Chicken John is. Read the weekly. The bus is a 60’s vintage monster. An ex-Green Tortoise bus. It doesn’t have power steering, so don’t be surprised if your ordered to help turn the wheel. After saying that, your probably wondering why it gets five stars. The reason is simple. Chicken John is driving the bus. There is some of the worst karaōke blasting and some drunk just handed you the mic. Unlike more commercial versions(read Mission Mexican bus). This is the real deal. Also, as a non-commercial expirience, you can’t just buy the bus expirience. You have to get involved with San Francisco’s art scene and participate in your community. Chicken John is likely to be driving the bus to Mexico, a freak show, Death Valley, or in my case, a working hippie commune. Chicken John has created art as bus. If given the chance, get on the bus, sit down, and sing.
