Delicious, reasonably-priced, fresh sandwiches in a nice neighborhood. Can’t really ask for more, and there’s a great selection of good quality meats and cheeses. I get lunch here almost every Saturday and am not tired of it yet!

Great sandwiches and variety of goods, super convenient spot at the top of the Hill that can save you a trip to the grocery store for odds and ends. Ramsey, Beth, and Ali are all awesome too!

The pulled pork sandwich(special) is out of this world. I’ve had a sandwich from Ramsey before and thought that was hard to beat. But today he suggested I try the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. It was beyond delicious and among the top 3 sandwiches I had on my life — if not even number 1. As desert, I had a pecan bar(not sure if they made it themselves but I’m pretty sure they do) and it was amazing as well. The pecan bar was fresh, delicious and just the right size. The dough was just right not too dry and certainly not soggy. It’s really hard to describe but it was just right. If you’re nearby or want to try something new, I recommend paying Ramsey and his wife a visit!

Nice, cozy deli in Potrero Hill. Always friendly and helpful. Also their Rosemary Garlic Turkey Sandwich and Roast Beef Sandwich is great! No reason to not give them five stars!

How have I not written a review for Chiotras before now?!? This place is the heart of the neighborhood. It is the quintessential neighborhood market. Its where you go for morning latte, a quick delicious sandwich, a great bottle of wine for dinner. They have a diverse selection of groceries and supplies that run the gamut from laundry detergent to an unexpected boutique soda. The owners Beth and Ramzi are the perfect mixture of kindhearted and smartass(in the best possible way). This is the gathering place for the hood where neighbors meet, become friends, and make a community. As the neighborhood grows, I am sure this place will evolve into the BiRite of Potrero but for now I am content to have it be the small jewel of the hood. I highly recommend a turkey club on ciabatta, eaten on the back patio, while giving a little pet to one of the numerous neighborhood dogs who prefer Beth & Ramzi over their own home.

The BF and I head here at least twice a week to get our sandwich fix. We love their sandwiches and Elizabeth and Ramsey are awesome! It’s usually only the two of them, so if it’s busy be patient, pet their dogs & take a seat outside, your delicious sandwich will be right with you!

I would be lost without this place and their delicious sandwiches. So well stocked. They know what their neighborhood needs and seem to have everything.

I could write about what a wonderful neighborhood store this has always been and, if the owners, Beth and Ramsey, have it their way, always will be… and how great and convenient the food and service is… but I need to say something much more important: I miss Blue. Sweet Blue, the«store dog» who was always outside lazing around, waiting to be petted and treated, left us recently, and now there’s a hole in my heart and on the sidewalk in front. Blue was so sweet and he represented what we are missing today in so many ways — old-fashioned traditions to counteract all of the wonderful-but-sometimes-overwhelming progress in the world today. The corner store with the dog and the owners who know you and your name are few and far between. I feel so lucky to have bought a home on Rhode Island Street, where one of these still exists. Beth, Ramsey and Ali are committed to a genuine community experience. And Blue was a big part of that, at least for me. He will be so missed.(Beth and Ramsey — this is Tracy Moon, writing as «Grace L.» — my thoughts are with you, I know how much you loved Blue. I lost my Trowser last December, but I just rescued two puppies, Waffles and Monkey, and we will be by soon to meet you… life goes on :)

Such a great spot to have in the neighborhood – plus the walk up the hill makes me feel like I’ve earned my delicious sandwich. And Oh those sandwiches! I wake up most weekends craving a Chiotras meatball sandwich. I always like the sandwiches but the meatball sandwich has a special place in my heart. Someone once stopped me on the street to ask me where my sandwich was from because yes it looks that good. It tastes that good to. This is also a good spot to pick up odds and ends when you don’t want to go to a full grocery store. Eggs, pasta, etc. The people who run it are always very nice, and even let me open a tab one day when I locked my wallet in the house that I was locked out of. All around great neighborhood store.

It took them over 20 minutes to get us our sandwiches, and it wasn’t crowded. Had they warned us it would take that long, we would have gone elsewhere. Seriously obnoxious how long that took considering how empty it was and how we had places we had to be. Edit: They did end up comping our soft drinks, so +1 star for that, but upon eating the sandwiches later, they messed up the order, so –1 for that. Edit 2: I then received a message that I assume was actually from a loyal regular rather than the owners, but still it’s pretty unprofessional. The message said«try burger king next time… douche bag!!» and it was written by someone who wrote a 5 star review on this page…

Run by a pair of friendly Iranians, the fresh-made sandwiches are consistently excellent, if a little bit pricey. The thing to do is to go out onto the back porch on a sunny day and eat while watching the chickens in their backyard roam around and peck at things(yes, they keep chickens). They’re also a handy neighborhood store, and I frequently head up there to refill my stash of espresso beans, for a much more reasonable rate($ 11/lb) than Blue Bottle(~$ 17lb, depending on which variety you get). Yes, Blue Bottle is better, but it’s sure not 55% better. Also, bonus points for the friendly store dogs.

I’m reviewing Chiotras as a neighborhood grocery store that also serves coffee and pastries. I haven’t tried the deli sandwiches yet, but judging from the other review here, I might have to tack on a star after doing so! As a local grocery it’s fine, but you’re not going to confuse it with Bi-Rite Market. To be fair, it’s smaller and located on a residential street. It serves the purpose of providing essentials for folks within walking distance. The other markets within a short walk are all of the slightly scary variety; Chiotras is decidedly non-scary. They carry a good selection of the essentials. There generally aren’t options, but it’s a good call to have one each of a variety of merchandise than to offer 10 varieties of butter in the limited space. Prices are higher than in a super market, but quite fair for a convenience store /corner shop. The pastries on offer are good. Not great, but much better than at similar stores. The espresso doesn’t measure up to high SF standards. All the folks there are super friendly which makes it a nice neighborly place to visit. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Update. Tried a sandwich. It was good; especially for a neighborhood store.

I was walking, got hungry, and stuck«sandwich» on the Unilocal search engine. Admittedly, it was the rating that led me here over closer locations. The sandwich was beautiful. I came in after the deli had closed, and so my options were slimmer than normal, but tuna salad on toasted rye is tough — and yet so easy — to mess up. The tuna was perfect, the bread was fucking phenomenal. Walking around the space, it’s easy to see why: real food, nothing synthetically farmed or made. This place is run by people who care, and it makes it feel exceedingly more comfortable than any grocery store. I love this place.
