i was thinking about coming back, but it has closed! bummer. I remember ordering a fish dish… salmon or sea bass… and it was delicious. The appetizer we had was also good… carpaccio of some sort. my date’s dinner was good as well…3 stars for food and overall 4 stars for atmosphere. the butter was stamped with the silhouette of the golden gate bridge!

Wow, I had no idea this place closed. I was looking through my Opentable history and it said I made reservations at a place called Urban Tavern for Valentine’s Day. I was so confused. What the hell was Urban Tavern? And then I realized that Opentable had changed the name from Cityscape. This place had an amazing view, that is definitely true. It’s a romantic place, with hushed waiters, decent but not great food(think steak or lobster), and cute chocolates and desserts on your table. I’m a little sad to see that this place is no longer open for business, but I did enjoy my date here with my boyfriend very much when it was open.

After we got engaged(yay us), my now-fiancé and I decided we should celebrate somewhere. We had heard that Cityscape had spectacular views of the city, so we headed over there. Dinner service had already ended by the time we arrived at about 9:30, which was fine with us, and the host told us in a very bored tone that we could just sit anywhere and we’d have to get our drinks from the bar ourselves. The drinks were very watered down and definitely not cheap. The view alone merits at least 4 stars — it’s quite spectacular. The service and the drinks? Eh, not so much.

Friends & I decided to check out some hotel in the City. I remember, when I used to live in LA, I would hang with friends for some cocktails at the Bonvaenture Hotel. The closest comparison I can think of here was Cityscape. The view overlooking San Francisco was awesome, little bit of a fog & that made it more romantic. Friends were happy that I took them at Cityscapes. We ended up at the bar since we didn’t have dinner reservation. Our server was great, friendly and fast. We didn’t have to wait long for our orders. We had some Crème Brulee, French Dip, Fish & Chips(this is more Ahi Tuna Tartare and some salad, it was yummy. He accidentally given a Tiramisu whick looks delicious. And lastly, for my cocktail, chocolate martini is the best. At 10 Pm, they charged $ 5 for some night dancing. I would def. come back. This was my third time.

My BF was kidding around with me about this place he had been for drinks. He kept telling me it was called Cityscape, which would be followed with hilarious laughter. I began to think this was just a code name for somewhere else, but where I wasn’t sure.
One afternoon, while walking downtown, he suggested we go to this Cityscape for a cocktail. I’m sure he’s bullshitting me but I want to get to the bottom of this spot and all the mystique surrounding it. Is it really called Cityscape? Am I about to be made the butt of a joke? I can’t tell, but I’m game for the ride. 46 floors and lots of ear-popping later, we are in the foyer of none other than… Cityscape. Yes, that is really the name, and yes, that is really the most they have to offer.(With a view like that, your food has a bit of a right to suck.) I can’t say anything about the food and whether or not it fits into this assumption, but I can tell you about the drinks. If you have the view and the food isn’t great, then you have to know that lots of people will come here for the drinks. Make them tasty! But dear Lord, don’t put a Lemon Drop in front of me like the one I had last weekend. For fifteen dollars, I need more than one lemon wedge squeezed into my drink, and I need for it to not taste like rubbing alcohol. However, it was an enormous crappy martini, so for those of you who care not about flavor, or love the flavor of what’s in the well, this is the spot for you. The non-present fog when you board the elevator may be waiting for you when you get to the top, so don’t expect an entire evening of views. Snippets at best.
My recommendation? Sit, Escape.

You can’t go wrong when you are at 46th floor overlooking the whole San Francisco at night! This is even better than getting the glitzy view of NYC especially when there’s just a tiny bit of fog outside, giving it a mellow and soothing feel. Came here for dessert and wine so can’t comment on the regular menu. The Godiva Martini was very good, smooth, sweet with a very tiny sensation of alcohol. The Tiramisu was perfect, light and creamy. The puff pastry stuffed with ice-cream was also pretty good.

5 stars for the view, a lukewarm 3 stars for everything else. We went there for dinner yesterday and although the entire restaurant was empty, we were asked to wait 20 min for a table… hmmm… The décor is ridiculous which is a real shame because with that view, this restaurant could be paradise. Everything looks totally outdated… The service was good, the food pretty blah… I’d go back just for the view, it is quite romantic if you isolate everything else.

Occasionally I like go here for drinks(either after dinner, post shopping or just for the hell of it) because I absolutely love the view from the 46th floor. It’s a also a nice place to take visitors because they get to see a great view of downtown, that is, if it’s not foggy! The service has always been friendly and welcoming and because of that, I know that I’ll keep coming back here to drink and eat japanese rice crackers. Out of all the times I’ve been here(and they were all happy times), I’ve only had one bad experience which was entirely all my fault: Last year’s Joy of Sake event took place in one of the event halls in the hotel and we went here to drink afterward and I drunkenly lost my diamond ring in the bathroom! I didn’t even realize it until the next day! My heart still breaks at the thought of it.

Here’s what happened: 1. Ordered the prawn/avocado cocktail. The avocado was actually guacamole with little hunks of mango in it that had fermented. Had to send that back. 2. They brought me a complimentary cup of lobster bisque to make up for the prawn fiasco which was OK, but pretty dang salty. 3. Ordered the ribeye, and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Wanted my steak medium, but when it arrived, it was well done. Didn’t send it back because I didn’t want to be a total ass about it and ruin the nice dinner I was trying to have with my husband. The hollandaise was served on the side, and wasn’t hot and didn’t taste at all lemony. Isn’t hollandaise sauce like«Cooking 101»? Why the hell is it on the side? If I ordered it, I obviously want it! 4. Every single waitperson, busperson, etc who passed my table apologized about the fucking prawn incident. Can y’all not keep interrupting my dinner conversation and making it worse? Shut it! But, they gave me a nice Valrhona chocolate cake for dessert because it was my birthday, so I’ll give them 2 stars. One for the amazing view, and one because the cake was pretty good. I also liked the huge bread basket with the little Golden Gate Bridge butter pats. Always end on the positive notes, is my motto!

Can only add my comments about the great view, the ordinary(but tasty) food, and my sadness that they are closing this down. It’s just one of those spots and its a shame it is going away. It will be quite the convention banquet hall and make many visitors very happy. The validated parking is very handy when going to the Rrazz Room across the street!

The venue at Cityscape at the downtown Hilton is off the charts! The restaurant is located on the top floor of the hotel and you can enjoy 360 views of the city. As for the menu itself, there is nothing unique about it. For the price listed, you would expect some more exotic and creative menu selections. The quality of the food is good, but it is pretty hard to screw up prime rib. Service is attentive and the views of the city make it a great place to bring a date. After 10PM, the restaurant turns into a lounge with a small dance floor in the bar.

Apparently, Cityscape is scheduled to be turned into an executive ballroom, and the restaurant moved to the first floor of the Marriot. Bad move. If I could rate this on a few categories, it would get 2 stars for the service, 3 stars for the food and 5 stars for the view. Therefore, unless they plan on upping the service, they are in for a world of hurt for business. The View: I could not take my eyes off the city. We sat facing downtown and the bay and the night could not have been clearer. Absolutely unreal to see the city we all know and love from a 46th floor vantage point. The food: I had the ribeye, and it was a little undercooked. The wine was stellar. I also had the Ahi Tuna appetizer, and while really good, it seemed like the chef didn’t really know what to do with the dish. The service: We had 3 busboy-types come by before the waiter dropped in. And he had such a thick accent, we couldn’t even understand him. We ordered a bottle of wine and he sped off. Then minutes later, a woman dropped by asking to take our order and not making much sense at all. Talking about waiting for one person in our party to come back… and not knowing who the wine-taker was. At the end of our meal, we used those Passport dining cards and it took her 3 trips to the woman who wrote up the ticket, to comprehend what it said… and even after 3 trips, the tickets were still wrong. We just left after that, not wanting to wait. If I were to go back, it would be for a drink at the bar, and to see the view. And if you are looking to do that… do it in the next month as they are closing this location. If you are reading this review after it has moved to the first floor… sorry.

Disclaimer: I don’t come here for drinks or appetizers(though I usually get them), I come here for the view. Why you ask? I guess the kid in me never ceases to be amazed by how amazing SF and the surrounding bay area looks from such a unique vantage point. We spend most of our lives on the ground, so why not take a break from down there and spend it up here ;o) BESTTIME: Come on a clear day, close to sunset. Its beautiful watching the city go from day to night. SERVICE: Despite being an upscale tourist/business spot I have always had attentive and friendly service, with a smile. DRINKS: They’ll make whatever you want and the prices aren’t bad compared to many SF restaurants. APPETIZER/DESERT: I’ve had their triple crème brûlée and sashimi and a few other samplings and have loved them all. I’ll point out that I’ve never been here for dinner.

Yes the view is awesome. The service is great, the people who work there must know it’s a tourist trap so try to be nice to you. However, the food isn’t anything to brag about, and the overpriced drinks are smaller than normal. Here’s an example: I like any place that has Guinness on tap, but Cityscape gives you 8oz. for the price of a pint(and an expensive pint at that), they serve it in a wineglass like it’s a Chimay or something, and worst of all they pour it funny. Head too big, not enough beer underneath. If I was more Irish I’d probably cry in disappointment. My redneck sister and her hubby met me here over the various xmas holidays. Well, if you have friends who never saw San Francisco at night and they melt with oohs and ahhs over the helicopter level views, then go here for some over-priced drinks, let them soak it up, and be glad you don’t do this mediocre food too often. C’mon Cityscape, this was once a cool place, now it’s just. meh.

I met two coworkers here after work for cocktails last night. We totally lucked out that the rain cleared up because the views were spectacular. In my opinion, way better then both the Starlight Room and Top of the Mark. Considering it is on the 46th floor of the Hilton I was expecting inflated prices, so I was very pleasently surprised. Beers were $ 6 – 7, they had about 15 wines by the glass ranging in price from $ 8 – 15 and their speciality cocktails were $ 15. They also had a decent bar menu that looked, at least price-wise, consistant with most places. Items on the menu were $ 7 – 16. I sat at a table in the bar with my friends, enjoyed the view and the atmosphere — which was perfect for happy hour. The service was VERY attentive. To the point I was actually annoyed. I think this was mostly because there were two waitresses taking care of us(and we only had 2 drinks each, so that was hardly necessary) and they kept coming by to check in. 4 – 5 times over the course of one glass of wine. I felt like they were pressuring us to leave even though the bar area was empty except for us. One waitress and even came by and dropped the check instead of asking if we wanted another drink(we did). Of course, when we actually wanted our check they were no where to be seen.

I’ve been here quite a few times for both dinner and drinks and I can say that the quality and service is declining. Several of their bussers are rude and clumsy, not to mention the fact that I have been run over on more than one occasion as they busted through the walkways with their pitchers of water. There are only 1 – 2 servers who are knowledgeable and polite. The rest only seem to be fishing for tips. The food has steadily regressed, as well. Their shrimp was overcooked and needed seasoning. The halibut was bland and tasteless, while the pork chop was chewy and lacked any imagination. I definitely do not want to dine here anymore, particularly considering that the prices do not reflect the quality. However, I can say, the lobster bisque has been consistently excellent, as has been the tuna tartare, earning the third star. In terms of drinks, they are also a bit pricey, but I’m willing to spend a little extra on a good, dry martini that isn’t served in one of those tiny excuses for a glass. The view is spectacular, particularly during sunset and only on the east side, which is one of the very few redeeming qualities. I only recommend Cityscape for drinks and appetizers on a night where you feel like you want something a little different and special. Also, try to go on a night where there is no music or «DJ»(I include quotation marks because he really isn’t a DJ, he’s just a dude who puts crap on the PA system that doesn’t mesh or flow). The awfulness of that taints the whole night.

This review is for Cityscape’s Champange Brunch on Sundays. This buffet style brunch is always a regular destination when my parents are in visiting. The views are amazing with a 360 degree view of the entire city. Imagine! A view of the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge and all the other beautiful landmarks in the city. Overall, they serve a good brunch. Though, the unlimited champange didn’t hurt either. It’s priceyer at like 60 or so bucks a person but it’s totally worth trying at least once in your life! Also, I once saw a lady eating brunch with her little purse dog. Which is so cool in my puppy loving book!

This is a review for BRUNCH at Cityscape. I had a really good friend in college, who was after me. Things didn’t happen in the end, but in the process, he set the gold standard for dating. He’d always find some unique and fun adventure to take me on, and I’d always return home after a truly memorable experience. One of these was brunch at Cityscape. Ok, I’ll admit, we were still living in Berkeley at the time so I’m sure a great view of San Francisco was more appreciated than would be now. But still. It’s spectacular. With a full brunch, you can’t really go wrong with the food. It may not be jaw droppingly amazing, but it’s definitely great, and the variety is always appreciated. And of COURSE, you must do this complete with champagne. Will I return? Not often. Is sitting down with a 360 view of the city drinking champagne stuffing my face with crab, oysters, eggs, bacon, fruit, and chocolate cake an awesome experience, especially when it’s an unexpected, creative date? Most definitely.

Recommended Dish: Sunday Brunch. I brought my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday here on a Sunday to enjoy their brunch and I was absolutely awed by the unbelievable view of San Francisco from Cityscape’s wall to ceiling windows. It didn’t hurt that it was a beautiful Sunday morning, the water and waves were sparkling and peppered with sailboats and surfers. There was absolutely no fog or smog and everyone was excited in the restaurant celebrating Father’s Day. The food was average for the price but the view was unbelievable. The service was friendly, prompt, and what you would expect for what you pay. While the food flavor was average, the variety covered quite a span – caviar, prime rib, made-to-order omelettes, octupus salad, seaweed salad, lamb chops, rotisserie chicken and more. Since I’m a meat eater I had no reason to complain. But the view made it all worthwhile… absolutely GORGEOUS! I would definitely recommend anyone to come here for a romantic Sunday brunch. Make sure to sit on the left side of the restaurant, otherwise you get a view of the hills which though not any less impressive is a little less awe-inspiring.
