Nestled alongside a busy thoroughfare, practically hidden from view, is a community garden just a third of an acre in size, but well worth the visit if you’re in the neighborhood.
The obvious appeal of a community garden is to garden, but with a wait list 66 names long, you probably won’t get to do that for years.
Luckily there’s more to do here than admire other people’s kale and arugula. Sit on a bench, soak in the sun, and enjoy the view of the East Bay hills and Mount Diablo. Have a bite to eat at a picnic table. Listen to the songbirds. Watch a pair of hummingbirds float by. And amble through the park enjoying the calla lillies, snapdragons, succulents, lemon trees, and lavender bushes.
