I saw Dr. Wilson for the first time about three years ago in late 2006. I had been diagnosed with Lupus and kidney failure two years prior and was still trying to navigate a low to no sodium diet as well as a complicated daily medical regimen. As a part of my condition, it was very difficult to accurately estimate how much lasix(the medication that aids my kidney function) to take without becoming too dehydrated or hypertensive. I took my blood pressure and weighed myself every morning in order to make the most informed decision on the amount of lasix to take. But those methods still left a lot to be questioned and I often ended up dangerously dry. Dr. Wilson was the first doctor who was able to put my medical care into the greater context of my lifestyle. He not only studied my diet and my medication list, but my daily activities as well. As I am a serious dancer, he realized that my workouts greatly influenced the amount of medicine I needed, since I ended up losing more water through sweat. On those days that I was most active, he suggested that I lower my lasix. Three years later, my body and water weight have remained steady. I feel as though I have a much greater understanding as to how my medicine interacts with my body, and I no longer feel as though I am making uneducated guesses as to my daily medication. Dr Wilson was also the first doctor I had who was available through email, which for someone with multiple doctors, makes coordination and communication blissfully simple. I highly recommend Dr. Wilson for any patient, especially those with more complex medical needs. He takes the big picture into account and enables the patient to be more self-controlling and self-educated in their medical care.
