It looks likes my backyard. The one that I never care to visit. It’s an alleyway with bunch of plants

Unilocal newsletters can be quite educational. Through« Unilocal’s Just Not That Into You,» I learned of Cottage Row. It’s a one block long mini park/walkway, located between Fillmore and Webster, with entrances on Sutter and Bush Streets. When walking along here, you’ll see entrances to cottages(thus the name), as well as people’s backyards. Doesn’t seem too appealing, right? Well, it’s like a small, well-maintained escape from main streets, a public space that provides serenity. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but if you’re hanging out in Japantown or the Fillmore and have 10 minutes to spare, Cottage Row is worth checking out.

so this dude was really in need to urinate(at approximately 8:45pm after a wonderful dinner around japantown)…BADLY! and there it was… cottage row. dimly lit with healthy plants, trees and bushes that sorrrounds the charming rows of houses, it was too beautiful to use it as a bathroom! but what can you do if you really have to go… so there i was walking back and fourth, looking for passerbys and making sure this dude won’t be seen. i noticed that there’s a tiny park. it’s a small patch of an open space which is neatly enclosed with nicely trimmed bushes. quite private. completing the walk, we very much appreciated the adorable victorian houses/cottages. to make this review at least useful or cool, i copy and paste some visual/informational stuff: A) B) C) D) E) F) G) and in behalf of my dear beloved companion, i apologized for illegally using this historical place as a toilet.

It’s cute because it’s one of those non-street streets — like where there’s a sidewalk and houses, but no street that a car would drive down. Other than probably being a pleasant place to live, it’s not much to visit, but I’m happy to know that it’s there.

Lovely, but absolutely not wheelchair accessible and the lighting is bad at night. The north end runs along a building which is not very period. There are some lovely cottages along Bush St for those seeking architecture they can see without using stairs.

i, too, just adore cottage row… and absolutely want to live there someday!(one can dream, right?) very cute, very peaceful; a small oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of san francisco.

According to the National Register of Historic San Francisco: «The Bush Street-Cottage Row Historic District is comprised of twelve acres containing twenty-two buildings of historic significance. The residences on Bush Street and Sutter Street are typical of TREA Victorians built by William Hollis built during the late 1860’s and the 1870’s.» When you find this place, be sure to check out the Mini Park on Cottage Row, it’s such a sweet place. A romantic spot to walk through after dinner at Café Kati. Also pretty during the day after lunch in Japantown, or tea lattes on Fillmore.
