For the very original crepes they would get five stars. For service only 3 or 4. Normally is the service ok. Very fast is the crepes or baguette on the table. But in a place like this I didn’t expect a great service so I was always ok with the guys behind the counter. Last Tuesday we had a bunch of friends over from Germany and told them that we have a spot for very delicious crepes. As we know it has open until 9oclock. We’ve been there at around 8:10 just after dinner — and it was closed. Door a bit open that I could sneak in and the guy behind the counter was on the phone. I asked him if they already has closed. He said we always close at eight :-(. I got to Unilocal again and saw that they still have open at 9. So we have to find a different spot. And they lost a list of revenue cause everyone would have a crepes and coffee. But again the crepes are great!

I came here with my boyfriend and had TERRIBLE service. By this young woman with lots of tattoos facial piercings and gauges. Last night I had my wallet with my ID and credit card stolen at a club. Luckily I left my debit card home so I came here trying to get a crêpe and i come all the time so this lady knows me. She insisted on seeing an ID and refused to serve me otherwise despite me explaining the situation. Once I said well then I can’t get food, she got mad and belligerent that I was canceling my order and leaving, but what else could I do? Great way to keep loyal customers! I will never be back. Oh and also when you are allowed to pay with card she always says and emphasizes«please fill out ALL3 lines»(tip, total, and signature) and rolls her eyes if you tip bad, I tip but I’ve seen it with other customers. Unbelievable. I will stop recommending this place like I used to do so much.

Amazing. DJ’s Fav and Nutella-banana were the best. These aren’t your mama’s wimpy wafers, these are to be shared!

Stopped here to kill time before a wedding and so glad we did! We got a simple crêpe: Nutella, strawberries, and whip. It was sooooooo good though and the smell of the savory crepes made it real hard not to order another. We will be back to try the other crepes and I won’t be sharing this time. Minus a star cause there’s hardly any seating and the crêpe is probably best eaten fresh.

Came here for a light Sunday brunch with friends, and basically no wait. Crepes are reasonably priced($ 4 – 6 each), so much so that you could easily get a savory and a sweet crêpe and not break your budget. I got the one with Brie, tomatoes, and pesto. It didn’t look like much but was surprisingly satisfying. My friends who ordered one savory/one sweet crêpe were super stuffed by the end. Definitely not the most upscale of dining experiences, but nice if you want something relatively fast, made to order, and delicious. Note: $ 5 minimum for credit card orders!

i live right next to this place so i decided to try it out for the first time! the tie dye clad cook walked in from having passed her sitting on the sidewalk with street kids, let a dog lick her hand and proceeded to make my crêpe !!! uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Des crêpes par des français! Malheureusement pas terribles. La pâte est comme du chewing-gum et franchement le restaurant n’est pas propre. Un tour aux toilettes: pas de papier pour s’essuyer les mains.

I don’t really write negative reviews — my intent here is that the restaurant owner or manager reads this, and takes action on it. I’d like to start eating crepes here again. I’ve lived in San Francisco since 1999, and started going to Crêpe Express on Haight within the first month of moving here. I don’t often make it up to the Haight any more, but twice in the last few months I made a special trip to eat here. A few months ago, I walked in, and started to order. The cook then walked in from smoking a cigarette right out front, and went straight into the kitchen where she started cooking without having washed her hands. I stopped my order and left. Who does something so unsanitary, and especially in plain sight of customers? I went back in recently, and had the same situation occur. The same cook came in from smoking outside, walked into the kitchen and started cooking. This is health and sanitation concern. I am happy to amend this review if the manager or owner handles this matter and gets in touch with me either through a direct message or a reply to this review.

I don’t know why I have to give 1 star. Visit yesterday with family from the east coast. Haight street is always a stop when people are visiting. I just need to remember not to eat touristy food. My cousin ordered 2 crepes one cinnamon with butter and sugar, one with butter and jelly. I got crafty and ordered green apple with butter and cinnamon with sugar. No just no. First of all the crepes are too thick. There was no one in there when we went in his crepes took about 10 min. Five of which was the girl who was making them wasn’t even in the back. Mine took about 15 min. The crêpe was dry, and CAKED with cinnamon so much so that the inside was dark brown. I scraped off most of it with my fork. My mouth was burning from all the cinnamon. I think she hated us. Why else would you do that? A little goes along way! This is what I get for cheating on genki! I PROMISENOMORE! I’m shocked this place is still in business. I looked around at the other sad crepes. Seriously NOTWORTHIT! I wouldn’t eat these if they were passed out for free after a grueling 12 mile race.

Despite other reviews, I had an enjoyable experience here. Next time I’m in the Haight, although I do not feel the NEED to return, I will definitely contemplate it, because the crepes are good and cheap — especially for the location and quality, I think. To start, the cashier was very kind — she even brought out our crepes once they were ready, instead of barking out our orders(mine was a Saint-Germain by the way — I loved it! Very simple, but very well done as well). This place DOES have restrooms — which is awesome, especially in the Haight — and the location, like I said earlier, is perfect. I had a good time, and have nothing bad to say about this place. Cheap, good food, good location, RESTROOMS — I would recommend it for a casual day out with friends.

This place is trash. The cashier was moody && unfriendly. I ordered a spinach, feta && tomato crêpe. There was no spinach in it. The tomatoes were diced so small I bit into it && they just fell out && I think the cheese was fake because it didn’t melt. If it wasn’t fake then it wasn’t cooked long enough. Maybe feta doesn’t melt well? Idk. Either way, gross. The total deal breaker for me was opening the crêpe to see that the entire thing had been covered in black pepper. I didn’t ask for any type of added spice. I’m guessing they did that to add some flavor. It just made the whole thing peppery && potentially grosser. I will not be returning.

The crêpe is good. Will come back. I had a basic PBJ. Tasty. The manager(assuming) left for the day while I was there, and then the dynamic changed big time. The girl cooking came out and turned up the music pretty loud. Then kept talking about how pissed she’d be if it rained on her while she slept in the woods outside that night. It definitely changed the vibe. They guy at the counter seemed chill. Maybe new. For Haight st, vibe all good. For the tea drinking people trying to relax… maybe not. Ps. The baskets are sort of gross. They need to be washed.

I’m honestly shocked at how low of a rating this place has; I thought my crêpe was absolutely to die for! I opted for the brie, pesto, and tomato crêpe which seemed like a solid choice and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The crepes dont taste *exactly* like they do in France, but this is honestly the next best thing. I spent an hour eating this crêpe just to savor all that ooey gooey cheese! My friend got the crêpe with chicken and bleu cheese, which was decent, but overpowering. I don’t think it’s crêpe express’ fault, if you throw bleu cheese on anything it tends to dominate all other flavors. It was so yummy, that after leaving to get ice cream, we returned and got a dessert crêpe which– I mean, how can you go wrong with a dessert crêpe? I’m surprised to see all the complaints about poor customer service because when we went there, the cashier was really friendly! Hopefully they’ve gotten rid of whoever is bringing the ratings down because they DON’T deserve such a low rating!

Rude staff ruined my experience. Customer service should be a focus. Crêpe was good otherwise.

Customer service wasn’t very enthusiastic. I had a crêpe with strawberry jam and cream. The crêpe was a bit dry and the whipped cream came from a can and was put on the hot crêpe, so the cream melted and turned into a puddle. I have a sweet tooth so I did somewhat enjoy my crêpe even though I make better ones myself. Place was a bit dirty and filled with flies. I wouldn’t come again necessarily.

I came here with 4 of my really good friends. We were not in a rush and even managed to grab one of the four tables in the restaurant. When we ordered we were greeted with surly looks from both the cashier and the baker. Neither looked happy to be there, but honestly that didn’t bother us. We ordered and took our seat. The range of time between when we got our first crêpe to our last crêpe was ENORMOUS. We honestly were waiting about 10 minutes for each crêpe and by the time we got all of them, those who had waited were left with a cold, brittle meal. I personally didn’t wait because I was last to order. I felt like the crêpe was okay, but definitely nothing special. It’s hard for me to imagine nutella, peanut butter, bananas, and a crêpe not tasting amazing, however this place delivered on that note.

Super chill and since never having eaten a crêpe in my life, I was delighted by the full-flavored goodness that met my mouth! Joe suggested the pesto, brie and tomato crêpe. His suggestion was very well made, and I ate two pieces of the shared square awesome thing. I was only planning to have one. The staff is superb, super cool and chill too :-)

Come quick. As you won’t believe build your own crêpes start at just $ 5. Adding in turkey, chicken, tomato and spinach made it a delicious and reasonable $ 7. On the sweeter side is the La Suzette with Grand Marnier and sugar. Butter comes standard too but you won’t need it with such a rich orange flavor. Only $ 5. Americano is the only thing that fell short. Unmemorable blend could have used sugar free syrups and nonfat milk. Both were not present. Fortunately this review is for Crêpe Express not Caffeine Express. Great food and prices combined with a stetched but friendly, relaxed and efficient staff earn that fourth star. Grab a crêpe. Grab a table. Do it soon.

Tasty crepes and tiny clean place. The guy who makes the crepes behind the open arch is very slow and takes his time. A few more people entered behind us and within minutes there was a traffic jam of people filling the tiny space. They have a couple tables but since people were standing above us we took our crepes to go and ate it while walking down the street. The guy who prepares the crepes has a nasty attitude to clients including unfriendly faces and head nods. The girl behind the counter was more helpful, but still gave the obvious feeling that service is definitely not their strength here. It took a star or two away from my rating. There’s another crepes place down the road with live music in their back room. Next time I will go there to try their crepes.
