Amazing food and service and sake! Everything I’ve tried here has been really good. You get more for your money than any other sushi place I’ve been to in San Francisco. And they are really nice. With chocolates, gum and oranges to finish off the meal. An incredible experience overall.

My sister lives a block away, and we decided to go here based on it’s fairly good Unilocal!reviews… turns out you can’t always trust Unilocal. It feels hella shady, to start, and it was pretty empty on a Sunday evening. We were excited about the $ 12 combo, so ordered the sea bass & chicken curry. Then the Caterpiller roll. The salad that comes with the combo was the weirdest salad ever… not the typical delicious crispy lettuce with orange/citric dressing. I was not pleased. The accompanying soup was decent, but had minimal/tiny pieces of sushi. The sea bass… was cod. So that was bullshit and it wasn’t good. The chicken curry was insanely underwhelming and I was not happy about it either. The roll was typical sushi fair, so enjoyable. I won’t be going back here! I suggest trying Ejii( ) or Takaro( ).

This is a place where the dishes are made with love. Each dish is served in a unique tray. The salad has a glaze tastier than the typical bottled dressing. The miso soup has spring onion in it. Each customer is set up with their own black teapot, warmed by a candle. For dinner, you can choose any two items from three dozen entrée combinations for $ 15.00 after tax. They all come with a small salad and miso soup. I had grilled mackerel and chasu ramen.

I was very disappointed with this place. The service was actually good but the food was less than mediocre. First off, did I taste ginger in the miso soup? It tasted like something extra in the soup. Sorry I’m a pureist when it comes to some things. Miso soup should have fish stock, miso, tofu, green onions, wakame, nothing else, unless you want to throw in something like bits of fish, or seafood, which is acceptable, but nothing more. I ordered the chirashi sushi. It was a joke. It had maybe 6 small slivers of sashimi, & spicy tuna on it and the rest of it consisted of pickled vegetables like cucumber, gobo, takuan, ginger, spicy tuna and that imitation crab meat stuffing that they put into california rolls. I paid over $ 20 for a rice bowl with majority tsukemono on it? That is laughable. A real sushi chef wouldn’t dare put out a chirashi sushi with over half pickles. Sorry, not a fan.
