AMAZINGGGG cocktails. Absolutely a 9.5 on presentation, flavors and strength. Bar food was top notch during the lunch rush as we were sauntering about the town on the weekend. I would recommend to anyone, it has somewhat of a dark atmosphere so good lighting for those dates and meetups that we all do nowadays ;) If you’re in hayes valley and its not crammed when you walk by, definitely give it a whirl!

Bartender: «what do you want?» Me: taking off my headphones«sorry?» Bartender: yells«what do you want?» Me: «got a menu?» Bartender: says something so quick I can’t comprehend Me: «sorry?» Bartender: «if you didn’t have those headphones maybe you’d hear» Me: «everything alright man? Seems like you’re upset» Bartender: «no not upset. I just hate repeating myself» Me: «appreciate it, later.» Granted I am a bit hard of hearing but your own mileage may vary. Just pay good attention if you want good service if the experience is similar to mine. Menu sure did look good though.

I always enjoy going to this bar right before a show at either the Bill Graham Civic Center or Rickshaw Stop. It’s got a fun pub atmosphere while being in the center of extravagant Hayes Valley, and the prices are actually pretty good too! I’m also surprised how inexpensive this bar is compared to other ones in the area. Any sports game you wanna see will be on one of their tvs, which is always a fun conversation starter, especially if you’re a fan. The bartenders are really nice too, they gave my friend soda water for free for being DD. And they make a killer Dark & Stormy. Their beer selection is pretty moderate, a few local beers and a few others. Last time I went I got the Hennepin Farmhouse Saison which I really enjoyed! All in all, this is probably the best priced bar in Hayes Valley and a really fun place to grab a beer before going to a concert, where the prices are crazy expensive and cash only! Definitely recommended.

I’ve been going to Dobbs Bar for awhile now. It was a nice, quiet bar near work where I could get a drink after work and watch the game. But the last few months, the service has gotten pretty terrible. The waitress/bartender can’t be bothered and if you do get her attention, suddenly I’m the worst person in the world. Can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon

The wife and I were in the neighborhood running some errands on a weekday afternoon. We wanted a drink(or two) and Absinthe seemed a little too upscale so we decided on Dobbs. There was only a handful of other people there so the bartender always had our attention — drinks were poured swiftly and she was quick with a refill when down to our last sips. Decent microbrews on tap and mostly mid to top shelf liquors available. I’d definitely come back here when in Hayes Valley

This bar was nice and the drinks were good. The service from one of the bartenders sucked! I am a fat tipper, 40% or more… my bartender was rude not only to me and my party but to other customers! The blonde girl with a bad attitude needs to check herself!

I’ve been here many times for sporting events and every time it sadly loses a little luster with me. When I first started coming here there was a certain charm with the kitchy things on walls behind the bar but those are no longer there. They removed some seating as well so it has a kind of empty feel. There’s a ton of standing room more than anything. I remember the bartenders having fun talkative personalities but the ones this night were very machine like and almost robotic. I always enjoy bartenders that overhear jokes or banter with guests where these just keep to themselves. Maybe it was a bad night but it just added to all the things that have gone away. The food service was good and still some of the better bar bites around. I just wish the surroundings were complimentary to the meals. Not a lot of good options in Hayes Valley to pull up a stool and watch a game so it sucks when the experience dwindles a little every time.

To be honest, I had know idea this bar was called, Dobbs Bar. I literally just called it, the Bar, because there’s literally a huge light up sign that spells«BAR». Okay, back to what’s really important here — the alcohol. The drinks here are made okay, but can be unbalanced. One round was a bit too sweet, another round was good, and the last round of drinks was just okay. The price point for the drinks wasn’t bad, but for the inconsistency, it wasn’t great. I will admit, where their drinks lack, that rigatoni pasta with sausage more than made up for it! I know what you’re thinking — and I thought the same thing — «you ordered pasta at a bar?» Yes, my friends and I did and it was actually really good. Pasta was al dente, the sauce was robust and zingy, and the cheese made everything creamy and rich. Completely blown away. If I go back for anything, it’ll be for that pasta and maybe a cocktail.

The food was surprisingly good. There isn’t so much of an atmosphere but its a great place to go watch a game on the weekend and the drinks were great.

My favorite bar in San Francisco, hands down. I have been coming in to Dobbs regularly since moving to Hayes Valley almost four years ago. Evans and Tony are my favorite bartenders in the city and the Dobbs Burger and Dobbs Fries are easily the heavyweight champs of the burger/fry circuit in San Francisco. If you like local beer and not just SF local but Chicago and NYC local, then there’s another 4 – 5 reasons why you should make sure that the first place you visit when you come to Hayes Valley, is Dobbs.

It was really odd. My friend and I were in the neighborhood for an 8pm show at Davies Symphony. We came to this place since it was practically completely empty at 5pm. They couldn’t seat us because the place was packed(with reservations), but we were free to sit at the bar. After 2 glasses of wine between the 2 of us, we decided to head over to the biergarten.

So this rating would be higher, but the service let us down. We had to flag someone down to order drinks after sitting for almost 10 minutes. The drinks were exactly what we asked for. We decided we wanted to order something else, but no one came by. We had to go up to the bar to order the app. The chicharrones were good– pork and chicken skins yum. Took a LONG time to get the check. The person that was supposed to be our server walked past us about 30 times without even looking at us. Not sure if we will come back

Great Breakfast and even better Bloody Mary’s We went around the area as it was busy on a Sunday morning — sat in the Bar vs the restaurant. Great food and Hayes our Bartender was great. He made the best Bloody Mary’s on our San Francisco trip. Food was very good — service was great –fast service — Great drinks and very friendly service. Never rushed even when the bar filled up. Thanks for our best Brunch on our trip!!!

Well isn’t this a divey gem if I ever did see! Place is cute, the décor is traditional-SF-post-1969 with Greatful Dead posters and the like covering the walls. Enjoyable. Overall this place was great and pretty well priced for San Francisco. $ 20 for two Hendricks and tonics! The tables were a tight squeeze and the people watching was pretty stellar, especially if you got a seat that faced a window. I would come back again if I’m in the area.

Came in here after dinner because we saw the big flashy sign that said Bar. Ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and surprisingly it was light, fruity and refreshing. It’s dark and chill at this place and not too loud which could be a great date place. We sat at the table next to the windows and the bartender constantly checked up on us. It’s definitely a great place to watch some sporting events since they have plenty of TV with varieties of sports on. The music was light and jazzy and exudes a sexy and warm vibe. I will come back again and try their food next time.

Dobbs SF Hayes Valley 6:30pm Tuesday 14th April 2015 Four Stars Second stop. This place was more divey than the last place but the drinks were strong and affordable. We posted up at the little railing on the right hand side of the bar. We were able to obtain three bar stools by borrowing one from a woman«who had a friend coming.» I had a couple JD whiskeys. The wait staff was very attentive — taking orders, clearing glasses, and bring us food. We got the potato chips and spinach dip with the bacon on the side. The chips were crispy, greasy, and the perfect snack to slow down the intoxication.

I’ve been to Dobbs Bar more than 3 times. I usually end up there to watch college sports. Every time I go there I think, man, this place has potential, and then I get annoyed and vow to never return. Why do I get annoyed? Well, every time I am there, the same bartender is there, and he is a major douche. He is rude, unfriendly, and annoying. I can’t believe they can’t find a better bartender. The beer selection on tap is average. I like that they have Ommegang Hennepin. Everything else on tap is boring. Also their beer often tastes flat. Maybe it’s just me? There are generally a bunch of drunk d-bags. I know, «it’s a bar» you are saying. Believe me, I’ve been to a lot of bars. This one is particularly full of [annoying] drunk people. Maybe this relates back to d-bag bartender? I’ve only ordered food once, and from what I remember, it was pretty decent. They have a bunch of(smallish) TV’s for watching different games.

So we thought this was Dobbs Ferry, its not, although it is connected. this is Dobbs Bar. Service was amazing, great local crowd, staff is very helpful and friendly.(didn’t try the food, but it smelled delicious). Very few seats, but lots of standing space. Worth going, and meeting the locals. Definitely will return.
