DONOTGOHEREUNLESSYOUWANTTOHAVEYOURTHINGSSTOLEN!!! I was at the venue for less than half an hour and my ID and credit card were stolen from my purse. The place is crowded way past capacity which makes it impossible to detect someone stealing your belongings. Luckily I had phone in my hand or it would have been taken too. When I approached the security he acted completely uninterested and apathetic which makes it seem like they are in on it. Trashy place with even trashier staff and crowd

Do not go here. I was there for less than an hour and 4 random girls had their phones, IDs, and credit cards stolen. Did anyone that worked there care? NOPE. If anything the bouncer yelled at me because he can’t deal with«drunk girls» when I’m sorry but having your purse unzipped, and someone stealing all of your belongs even tampons is a «drunk girl» well idk I’d like to re-learn the definition of «drunk girl» because girls/ladies/women/bitches don’t lose their entire purse. Not only was this a one time scenario but I was told that this happens on the regular. Just not acceptable. Thanks :)

When I was 21, I loved this place. Now that I’m older? Yeah… not so much. I’ll admit the music here is probably one of the better picks in the area. Any place that plays hip hop /r&b on the reg beats any of that EDM nonsense by a long shot. The aesthetic of the place is pretty neat too. Old boomboxes line one wall, old cassette tapes line another, and an assortment of other throwback memorabilia are either hanging from the ceiling or are artfully displayed on the shelves above the bar. Drinks were. decent? I don’t know the pricing but they tasted how they were supposed to, so I guess that’s a good thing. That’s probably all that I like about this place. Like most places in the Mission, there’s a cover after a certain time. The restrooms are filthy. I don’t know how it’s possible there are only like, 2 stalls when this place is consistently packed but if you can imagine how many people are going in/out there in one night I’m sure you can see why it gets so gross. There is a dance floor but it’s packed to capacity most all the times I’m there and despite there being a couple fans around the room, the ventilation is almost non-existent. Often times I feel like I stepped out of a steam room after leaving this place. Also worth mentioning that I’ve been here one time when a dude was literally peeing… on the bar. Disgusting. IDK. I used to find this place pretty fun back in the day but I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t know any better or maybe 21 year old me just had poor judgement. I will say that it’s worth going to early on in the night(& before cover) if you’re hopping around Mission but not somewhere that I would recommend staying for all night or even once it starts getting crowded.

I thought this place was going to be a little bit bitter for some reason. I came her a couple months ago, the wall of boom boxes were pretty cool. Other than that meh… dance floor was super small and crowded.

This place definitely needs to be double the size. It’s great until it becomes so packed you can’t move. The music is what sold me, so many bars/clubs only play EDM(which is fine), i like a little variety in my playlist.

Back when Mark Walburg was Marky mark, this is how we use to make the party start, go into a room unless its totally dark, and look for a cute girlie so you can try to talk! If your itching for a low key club with tribute to early 80s Hip-hop, this must be it! Everything from the Photographs placed on the wall, to the décor of used boom boxes which have seen their lives come to an end, from a block party or Breakdance battle. The place is decent sized, drinks are modest at best. You are coming here mostly to dance with your friends, and listen to cool vibes and have someone spill a drink on your new shoes and it be partly crowded. This place is like the hidden gem, or little sister to the Milk Bar in haight street. Milk bar use to give off this incredible vibe that supported hip-hop without being too commercial or overcrowded. Ladies and Gentleman I give you double dutch. A place crowded enough on a weekend night, but still cool and laid back enough not to have any riff raff, or no nonsense.

Very small bar but very cool vibe with radios all over the wall. Dance floor in the very back. The nights they play hip hop are fun!

Similar to reviews below, both my friend and I got our iPhones stolen out of our purses within 30 minutes of being in this bar. When I let the bouncer know, he said«it happens all the time». I would be willing to bet the bouncers are in on this since it seems to be the same story every time. If you want to have an $ 800 night, go to this bar.

Two friends and I came here last night, both of them had their phones stolen within an hour. Two iPhone 6’s stolen out of their purse on the dance floor almost immediately after walking in. One of them had a zippered purse, the other’s had a clasp. These aren’t careless people, none of us have ever had our phones stolen before and we’ve lived all over the world, in Europe, in many places with pick pocketers, etc. Double Dutch is something else though. We told the bouncer right away, and he seemed completely apathetic, said it happens all the time… Like what the fuck is your job then, you shady ass hole. Seems like this happens all the time, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it’s an inside thing with the staff. Too bad because the music and drinks were good, but not worth the $ 500+ you dish out for a new iPhone after yours gets stolen upon entry.

Seriously, be careful with your valuables in this place. My phone was stolen out of my purse while I was wearing it after being here for less than an hour. On Saturday nights, it is wall-to-wall people, and you can get ripped off really easily. Drinks ok, music ok, but understandably I will not be coming back here.

Went to this bar on a Friday night was hella crowed for one. The people seem racist. I was looked at up and down like if they stereotyped me. I got asked what was I selling. Shoes got dirty cause rude people would just get by with pushing you out the way. Even the guy at the front door said my name really funny and greeted my friend but not me. I didn’t like the atmosphere at this place. Have you ever felt not welcomed?

Imagine a Sunday night that is pouring rain. You and three girlfriends go to the Double Dutch for a drink. As you cross the threshold into the bar, a large, unfriendly bouncer pulls you back and makes you stand outside even though you already had your ID out. As your friends arrive, the same bouncer yells at them, «Get into the light.» He is demanding all four of you stand under a single bulb outside the front door in the cold, rainy night. He then yells at your petite friend for not having a large enough hand for his stamp. It was one of the most intense, bizarre experiences. In the nine years since I have turned 21, I have never been so insulted and physically threatened, especially for a raining Sunday night.

I give this place a 3-star because I really enjoyed the music they played. It’s hard to find a place that plays Hip Hop/R&B music nowadays(not a fan of EDM). They even played 90’s and early 2000’s Hip Hop/R&B which I think it’s the best music to dance to. However, this place gets way too crowded and we barely had enough room to dance. The crowd is a little too young for me, not sure if it’s because most college students are on winter break or what! I’d like to go back again but if the crowd is always this young, I definitely won’t go there again. They are either busy taking selfies, playing with their cell phones on the dance floor, spilling their drinks everywhere or simply just being an animal!

This place is AWESOME! I came here last Saturday night with my folks and we had a blast, I just turned 21 so the bartender hooked me up with birthday shots and had my ass feeling nice alllllll night long. The music was perfect exactly what I was looking for because I’m not a big fan of EDM/House music, lots of throw backs mixed in with current hip hop/r&b jams, I danced all night long. This place is casual I ended up changing shoes because I had heels on and you won’t need those because you’ll be dancing all night long. The crowd was a good mixture of all types of ethnicities and it was a fun vibe. It’s a small place and it was pretty full by 11 pm but it wasn’t shoulder to shoulder I had room to dance around, we showed up a 9:30 and got in no cover charge and watched the place fill up and get jumping. I would’ve given this place 5 stars but the bathroom was REPULSIVE, ive never seen a bathroom so disgusting in my entire life I was horrified when I opened the door. Only downside about this bar but I will definitely be back for good music and good drinks !

If you want to get down and funky without trekking to deep SoMa and waiting in one of the club lines, Double Dutch may be your best bet. With pretty standard Mission drink prices($ 5 local beers, $ 7 mid-shelf shots) and an entertaining if sporadic DJ spinning tunes out on the dance floor in the back, it’s hard to go wrong here if you’re with a fun group. Admire the music-themed décor on the walls everywhere and try to stay out of the black lights as much as possible, especially after a full day of SantaCon debauchery. Fun place! Just watch out for iPhone thieves and pickpockets…

Came to this bar Lounge for a friends bday and the place was packked to the fullest. It was getting hot in their. Pretty much shoulder to shoulder with everyone and it was hot. I don’t blame the bar because well their trying to get as much people as they can to go to their club. Music is pretty good with hip hip and RNB hits.

I came here with few of my friends on a saturday night. They played great hip hop songs — songs where the whole crowd could sing along to. The thing the bothered me the most was the space. The place was a lot smaller than I thought. It’s still got a bar but in my opinion with the given space it felt like it was a bar and they just added a DJ for people to dance(with very little room). It was super crowded on saturday night and I was always squished. What was worse is that a lot of people were holding drinks in their hands and I actually got drinks spilled on my shirt that night.

Came to Double Dutch on a Saturday night after going to other bars in the area. Even at 12:30am they had a $ 5 cover charge. The security was very biased. Letting in friends without checking IDs, waiving cover charges in front of people waiting in line to pay. Holding up the line to say what’s up to passerbys. It was a little disrespectful and made me want to take my business elsewhere. I know this kind of stuff happens everywhere, but you don’t have to blatantly shove it in others faces that you’re getting the hook up or preventing business from entering. The place was packed so the dancing was very smushed. Some people like that, I don’t. Drinks were averagely priced and pretty strong which is a good sign of a strong hand. Atmosphere is casual with the population about mid to late twenties. Décor is 80s Bboy, boomboxes, kangol hats and cardboard. It was well done to bring you back to a simpler time when disagreements were handled by dance battles instead of world star hip hop videos. The music started okay. By okay I mean they had the good throwback jams that bring you back to a time before clubs were all EDM. It made you feel good and you just couldn’t help your body from moving to the beat. Then the DJ starting doing shout outs and playing random songs nobody was feeling. Maybe he was trying to help his homie out by playing his new track, or he was trying to go underground. Regardless, it was apparent the DJ was not feeling the room and was just spinning for himself and a few friends. Eventually it was too much and we ended up calling it an earlier night. Not my first choice of places to visit in the area. A two star rating that means«meh I’ve experienced better» is a fair rating.

Double Dutch is my favorite spot in SF! Sure, the crowd is sometimes a little young(especially for this late-20s grandma) and the tiny dance floor gets PACKED, but the music is always on point. I love the old school and top 40s mix, and I always have an awesome time here! I’ve also never had any issues with watered down drinks. Parking is a royal pain here(like every part of the Mission), so I highly recommend leaving your car at home. Also, be prepared to wait in a little line if you plan to come around 11 – 12. See you on the dance floor!

Double Dutch is where you go when one of your friends says«I wish there was somewhere we could go to just dance our hearts out… it doesn’t even have to be that fancy.» That spot it Double Dutch. Amazing hip hop music and tons of people who’s number one goal is to dance their a$$ off. I am proper on the outside and ghetto fab on the inside so this is a spot where I can truly be myself. Sometimes a girl just needs to drop it low. My boyfriend and I are both pretty nerdy bad dancers but after one tequila shot we magically turn into the best dancers in the world. Or we at least think we are. Every girl needs a guy she can dance her heart out with. Even if you look completely ridiculous doing the sprinkler together but you’ll be laughing so hard that people will be jealous of your sprinkler. In summary, bring your date or your friends here because they will have a blast listening to old school hip hop and dancing all night.

Came here with my BF for his friends birthday. I was super disappointed. The place was run down, the crowd wasn’t quite my scene. I’m not much of a bar hopper but I can tell you, there are plenty of better options. Personally my preferences are — ghetto music, nice but cheap drinks, and crazy dancing. This place sometimes have a cover fee and sometimes not. When we arrived my bfs friend told him there was a 5 dollar cover, but when we were at the door, we didn’t have to pay so that was awesome! I think because we came around 1:20 am or so and they close at 2 am we were exempted. The margarita is HORRIBLE here. It tasted like water with salt. They didn’t have mojitos… One beer and one margarita came out to be $ 19! There are plenty of drunk men here breaking beer bottles. I saw one for myself being taken out by the security guard. The place say they open until 2 am, but the lights came on and music stopped at 1:41 am. It’s a squish scene in door. The only kuddos I give would be he wall of stereos for decoration. If you are looking for better and nicer bars, I saw try Polk street or Castro! Parking here is also HORRIBLE! You have to find street parking!
