This place is a cornerstone for all of us in Cole Valley who were not blessed with a washer/dryer in their apartment. Rumor has it that even some of those who were, still come to Doug’s Suds for a more reliable«spin». Usually all of the machines are functional, the place is clean, and the change machine gives you change when you ask for it. It’s got a Spartan vibe about it – nothing unnecessary here. As of Sept 2015 there are: — 10 washers($ 3.25 a pop) — 10 dryers($ 0.25 for 6 min) — 4 chairs — 3 carts — 2 change machines — 1ATM — and of course a folding table I cannot speak for the quality of the detergent vending machine, but it does look like its from the era of Jukeboxes. I’ve never met Doug, but I am convinced that he’s a great dude. He kept the place open in spite of threats from the landlord not to renew his lease, by leaving a notebook around asking for stories about how people find it to be a necessity. Needless to say, the booklet is gone, we got a few new chairs, and it looks like I can have clean clothes for the next little while. Thanks Doug! P. S. Thanks for not being a stickler for late launderers such as myself. Many sock related apocalypses have been avoided.
