Ah ecstasy… yet another one of Karen Cusolito’s fabulous and enormous sculptures. Causing us to take a moment and exhale upon viewing. Thank you Karen for continuing to inspire us.

Alas, Ecstasy has gone away. The next sculpture for Patricia’s Green will be arriving in May. It is «Future’s Past» by Kate Raudenbush; sponsored by the Hayes Valley Art Coalition(local grassroots group) and The Black Rock Arts Foundation(international grassroots group). Patricia’s Green was developed when the former freeway was taken down. The tenets of the park are that no permanent sculpture can be installed thereby giving us a rotating show. «Ecstasy“‘s visit was extended due to her popularity; check with the artist. I heard a rumor that she might be in Oakland near Jack London Square soon at a sculpture garden?

«Ecstasy» was on display in this space from February 2010 through October 2011. I assume she’s now in storage at American Steel Studios in West Oakland. If you like Karen Cusolito’s work, two(giant, steel) flowers from her«Infinitarium» series are on display in the Mid-Market neighborhood, an installation sponsored by the Black Rock Arts Foundation and the San Francisco Arts Commission. «Dandelion» is at the eastern end of U.N. Plaza and«Valiant Flowers» are across Market St. from that. «Future’s Past» by Kate Raudenbush will be installed in Patricia’s Green in early May!

Just down the alleyway from Blue Bottle, this is the perfect place take your coffee, sit, and relax if you’re not in a rush. This awe-inspiring 30-foot metal sculpture must been seen in person to be fully appreciated. Bring a camera, so you can capture this rapturous delight.
