Can I post twice? A truck ran into our car in an awkward turn and James Lok handled the entire claim and repair brilliantly. He not only contacted the insurance directly to explain they had not taken the proper tax rate or labor rate in the city into consideration with their estimate, he also took the extra step to handle the communication between the adjuster and the insurance company while I was on vacation. He moved and parked my car to my space (we are across the street) and just now, while he was on a well deserved vacation out of the country, followed up with me via text and forwarded me some additional documentation I needed to complete the claim. James and his team handle customer service like I have never seen — Ed, I know you are enjoying retirement but you can be assured your name is in good hands and the team who is running your shop is top notch. :-)

Who knew that a Prius is such a delicate creature. I just lightly kissed an island in a parking lot and BAM! my Prius c is shaking and shuddering like a poodle pooping peach pits. I climbed underneath and it was bent up and mangled, the front bumper was mushed up and the side had a little dent on it as well. Sheesh. Well it took me a while to get the car to the shop but these guys too a look at it, put a bid together, handled my insurance and fixed the thing good as new in less than a week. It looked brand freaking new. They also helped to set me up with a rental and when I got my car back it was cleaner then when I dropped it off. I would use these guys any day and if I decide that off roading in my Prius is a good idea in the future I know where to take it for repairs.

My friend highly recommended this body shop. My car was hit while parked and the driver didn’t want to go through insurance. Ed Arroyo Auto Body, worked with me to get the price down and to fix only what was needed but also ensure my car looked good. James Lok was very honest, knowledgeable and worked quickly. I am very pleased with the outcome.

I just picked up my Honda from Ed Arroyo. I was talking to a guy (James) in the office and he was friendly and straight to the point on what would be done. Unilocal reviews seem to be spot on with this place. They did a great job painting and repairing my front bumper. And they washed and buffed the entire car too! now my car looks better than before the car accident. Will definately recommend this place to others for body repairs and paint.

My wife had her black Toyota fixed at this shop. James helped her out. What an awesome guy he is! The front bumper was damaged in an accident and the rear bumper had suffered San Francisco parking casualties. James had the front bumper replaced and the rear bumper repainted. The car looks brand spanking new. The black color was matched perfectly. I would have never known the car had been damaged. I would return in a heartbeat. This was some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. My expectations were surpassed. Two thumbs up x5!!!

I just bought my Lexus in to get my front end repair. They did an excellent job on it. I was crying when i got into the accident, but when they fix my car it was better looking than before. Look for James, he is the man.

My car was side-​swiped on a rainy day, and needed some work to get it back into driveable condition. The Ed Arroyo staff was very honest and direct about the repair work and costs, and I never felt I was being taken advantage of despite my lack of collision repair expertise – in fact, the pricing was very fair and justified compared to other quotes I received. After I dropped my car off, I picked it up after a few days, and I couldn’t even tell where the original damage was!
Before I entirely forget about this situation and get back to my everyday routine, I thought I should return some good karma points to this place and recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonable, honest, and quick auto repair shop.

Ed Arroyo has repaired at least 4 auto’s for me over the years. and some more than once. I love the work. I just sent a friend to him and she looked up this site. I never thought of writing a review. He is as most people have felt about him. He is honest, does a good job and will give you a ride home when you leave the car. The auto is finished at the time he promised. NEVER HAD TO RE DUE ANYTHING. The price stays as estimated. HE DOESN“T TAKE CREDIT CARDS. lovely Man.

I’ve been a bit torn about writing a review here since Ed painted the tank on my motorcycle. On the one hand, if you were to look at the bike you’d probably say the tank looks great, and for the most part you’d be right. But the experience of getting it to that state, and the fact that it’s still got some problems (that only I will likely ever notice) compelled me to post about it.
The first thing you should know is that the last time my tank got damaged I brought it to Ed and he did a fantastic job. When I got it back it looked better than ever, probably as good as it looked the day it rolled off the line. I’ve had the bike for 13 years now, and I think Ed has repainted it 3 or 4 times in that period, and every single time it came back I was happy.
But this last time wasn’t so great. The tank had damage on one side and Ed quoted me $ 500. This price was a nice-​guy price, as I was having issues with my insurance company who had undervalued the bike and wanted to total it. Ed gave me a fixed quote price and said he’d take care of me. My mechanic removed the tank and ordered new decals for it from Honda. Unknown to both the mechanic and I, Honda had run out of the decals and sent a third party version which looked very, VERY different from the original. The mechanic didn’t notice this — he just passed along the envelope from Honda — and Ed painted it. Of course, now one side looked wrong; the colors weren’t the same and the one with the wrong decal stood out a lot. When Ed brought it back to the mechanic he pointed this out and said it wouldn’t do. Ed was upset about this and said he would repaint it if I would order the right decals, but he would have to charge me another $ 150 for the work.
Up to this point I wasn’t too upset. It was an easy mistake for all of us to have made, though frankly I would have expected Ed and his team to call us when they noticed the decal was wrong. I agreed to pay the $ 150 out of my pocket (getting more from my insurance company wasn’t an option) and ordered new decals. I ordered a set of 4 and had them sent to my mechanic who gave all 4 to Ed. I had intended to save 2 of them as a backup seeing as they were becoming hard to find, and this group of 4 I had to get custom made as you can’t get the originals from Honda anymore.
The second time they painted it they redid the whole tank and both decals. When I got this version back there were problems. There were some light scratches in the clear coat, some little bumps and whatnot, too. On top of that there was a lip of paint near the gas cap that look like it dried up against the mask for the cap and then broke off, leaving a little sharp nub sticking out. Finally, one of the decals looked great, but the other had a crease in it. This despite the fact that I sent four decals to him, of which they used all four (without calling to mention or ask).
So I went back to Ed and said that he needed to paint the tank again. He was very upset about this. «You motorcycle guys are all the same! F*** motorcycles; I’m never going to work on them again!» He said that the problem was the decals were old. I pointed out that they were brand new, custom made for this job. I also pointed out he had 4 of them, which means he burned through 3 trying to get it right. And finally I pointed out that even if he burned through them all, rather than just putting on the clear coat and hoping I wouldn’t notice, he should have called me and asked what I wanted him to do; to let me order more decals or come look at it before he finished it.
In the end they painted it again. By the time I got it back the third time a month had transpired during which my bike was unavailable to me. The final product looks pretty good but has it’s issues. There’s a white spec about half a millimeter in diameter, just below the clear coat right on top of the tank. There are still some little bumps and imperfections in the finish along the right side of the tank. They painted the petcock (a small valve that sticks out of the bottom of the tank), which is kind of stupid. Why they didn’t tape it over to prevent it getting painted makes no sense to me other than laziness. There’s paint smudged on the gas cap (which is affixed to the tank; it’s like a little door). That lip where the paint was snapped off near the cap is a little better; I think they sanded it down and painted over it. It’s no longer a sharp barb but is now a smoother, bubbly shape (that’s smaller than it was, so that’s better).
The main reason I would not recommend going back is that every time that Ed and his team came back with the tank and it wasn’t done well, he made me feel guilty for insisting on him doing high quality work. That his inability to focus on detail and to deliver the high quality results he had in the past were somehow my fault. That my expectations were inappropriate. It’s not the kind of treatment that, as a paying customer, I would expect from any business that expects me to come back.

I work on my old car myself, but on occasion, I’ll take it to a specialty mechanic with good reviews. On this occasion, I brought it to Ed to get 3-​point seat belts installed (it has lap belts right now). I figure if it’s a safety system, I’d rather have the pros do it.
After a 1-​minute discussion with Ed, he told me to go home and do it myself. Confirmed that the spot I had chosen for the new bolts were safe, and said that he’d just be taking my money. Then I picked his brain for another 10 minutes on some body problems that were bugging me. I told him I’d be back when I got body work for him.
Seems like a fair guy with a lot of wisdom. Also, you can usually trust a mechanic with a mustache.

i drive a 1965 chevy nova which is super unique, to the year. there are a shit-​ton of auto shops that really do not know what they are doing with regular cars, let alone vintage classic cars.
out of desperation, convenience and sheer ignorance, i have found myself at the mercy of many places (which will all remain nameless — for now) looking for help with my car. accidents which lead to crushed up body parts, poor electrical connections that lead to shady ass charging systems, and just plain oldness, with a leaky oil pan, creaky shocks, etc. sure, all serviced by mechanics with smiling faces, but the little ‘projects’ are never far in sight when it comes to maintaining an old school. and often times, the very projects serviced by these smiley men have become recurring ones, or ones that develop into more serious ones. trust.
in comes ed arroyo, referred by mike of classic cars west (in case you are looking to buy or sell a vintage car). someone had rear ended me and i needed some body work to be done. i had already been paid out my insurance check, and asked ed to see how much he would charge for my repairs. he did a very thorough estimate, stuck to the $ amount he quoted, got the work done very quickly and beautifully — without the extra parts my other ‘car guy’ suggest i buy from out of state for around $ 300. to top it off, i was able to get the work done at $ 1k less than i was paid out — sweeeeet!
ed is super honest, hard working and really goes the extra mile to make sure the job is done right, the first time around. no polishing of turds here. vintage car or modern-​y car! ed’s the man!

Ed Arroyo is a honest, decent, charming person and he runs his auto body shop with the utmost integrity.
I have always DREADED having to take my car into any shop for any reason and I approached going to Ed Arroyo with my usual anxiety. I don’t like to be ripped off — I don’t like talking about cars– I don’t like to deal with people with snotty, superior attitudes. I just don’t like going to car places. Well, going to THIS auto body shop provided the polar-​opposite experience.
Ed is funny and personable and does an incredible job at a very honest and fair price. I had a small problem with the work and had to go back. They apologized, shook my hand and redid the job for free. How great is THAT? I have had the BEST experiences here. I highly recommend it.
