terrible -$ 8.50 for black beans rice cheese and lettuce burrito — terrible atmosphere, terrible customer service — no flavor at all. zero stars

Pretty decent burrito and definitely was a great place to be to beat the crowds after Bay to Breakers. Nothing fancy, but a solid lunch overall.

First time here and I was so disappointed with this place. Unfriendly service, long wait time(for one California burrito on a Sunday morning with NO line) and very mediocre food. Have to agree with other reviewers on here, my California burrito was mostly fries and hardly anything else. Carne Assad wasn’t anything to write home about and all salsas offered were blah — some heat but no real flavor.

Almost $ 10 for a burrito with everything… Taste like a microwaveable burrito… No thanks!

I will never return to this place. Ordered a california burrito and it was at least 50% fries. I barely saw carne asada in the entire burrito. The quality of the food I would rate at 2 stars. The salsa bar was pretty BASIC with the classic sauces, mild, chipotle, and avocado salsa. The salsa was decent, but not good enough to return here because the burrito was so horrible. Like others are saying in the review, they put very little meat and lots of fillers such as fries, rice, beans.

Just terrible. Paid $ 10 for a «super» carne asada burrito, they forgot to include cheese, guac or sour cream. Meat was gristly and gross, way too much rice and the flavor was totally bland. Go literally anywhere else.

I gave it three tries… And it struck out. Very slow service and not friendly. I tried eating in, taking out and ordering ahead and none of the orders were done without me reminding them I was waiting. Quality of the food once I finally got it would be 3 stars. Not worth it

I love this place and it’s great for vegetarians. Their black and pinto beans are both vegetarian, and they have lots of grilled veggie burritos and tacos. Chips and salsa are yummy! Tostados are also very good. Come here and try them.

It pains me to write this review. I love burritos more than just about anything, and I wanted nothing more than to have a dependable, tasty burrito in the outer sunset. El Beach Burrito in its current iteration is not that burrito. I’ve eaten here a few times now, each time hoping it will rise above mediocrity but it hasn’t. None of the ingredients are stellar; most are bland. That’s about it. A bland burrito in a city that has delicious burritos in almost every neighborhood. I’m rooting for El Beach. I’ll probably visit it again in a month or so because I’m a sucker for self punishment, and I want to be proved wrong in my current assessment.

TL;DR con: Sub-par customer service, understaffed, expensive meal. pro: Decent serving size, pretty tasty, sit down location. I went here with a couple of homies since this was the closest burrito joint. The vibe and atmosphere was chill and we had a table to sit down at. It was a hot day and i decided to get a regular chicken burrito with an ice cold Arizona green tea to go along with it. You know how Arizona green tea is a dollar everywhere you go right? Well, here at Beach Burrito, it’s $ 2 even though the can says $ 1. I didn’t know this until the lady at the checkout counter told me in an apologetic voice that«sorry, it’s the boss’ decision»… To me, that’s deception and just shady business. Other than that, the burrito that i got was tasty albeit expensive. A regular burrito here costs as much as, if not more, than a super burrito elsewhere. The place was understaffed and I had to wait a relatively long time for my burrito. Overall, the burrito left me full but I’m still disappointed at the price and service. I’ve definitely experienced better and won’t be eating here again.

Enjoyable place and I love the food here! Great décor too… Love it!!! But honestly I only come here for the food… Why would you come here for anything else? Gimme a break its a Burrito Spot not a Bistro!!! The Carne Asada is on point, seasoned to perfection, I always get the Platos. The employees are always friendly w/me!

Their food is delicious. I love love love their burritos and quesadillas. Only down side– it took forever to order and then receive our food. When we got there I believe there were 5 people ahead of us and it took us 25 minutes to order! Only two people were working– someone cooking the food and someone handling the orders/checking people out(you don’t do this together oddly?). They might benefit from some more help.

This place is incredible — granted, it’s probably not as authentic as some«taco shop» in SD, but for where it is, el beach burrito brings the flavor. A little expensive, but worth the price. Their carnitas are always juicy and never fatty. Their portions are generous and their guacamole is so fresh — I could eat here every day.

We ate here after getting off the MUNI, arriving in town to start our vacation. We tried to go to Outlanders but they seated multiple tables before us(I assume because we had suitcases and requested an outdoor table). I should have known better than to try Mexican when I live in SD which is known for its taco shops, but we were on vacation and I wanted to live dangerously. We ordered the super nachos to split. It was annoying trying to order as the menu is on TVs and it changed screens every so many seconds. When we went to order the super nachos the person taking the order did not know what they were and looked confused. I pointed to the menu and the other person working there explained to them what it was, which apparently is carne aside(maybe just beef) beans, lettuce, pico, sour cream and guacamole. The meat was not very flavorful, nor the beans. The chips were nice and crisp. They had a salsa bar and I tried the spicy salsa and the green chiles salsa. The green chiles salsa had almost no taste and was watery. The spicy was not very spicy. Overall it was a disappointing experience. The restaurant was not busy when we were there)2 other tables full) had 2 employees working and there were dirty unbussed tables in the dining room. Also lots of flies in the restaurant which may have been because the front doors were left open and it was close to the beach, but not appetizing when dining.

Not bad. Meat wasn’t dry. Rice was a bit bland. Not overly salted(I hate when restaurants do this). Had a variety of tortillas. Chips were crispy. Salsa needs improvement 2 starts for that. Green salsa was sweet and hot. The darker roasted salsa was the best, but having tasted superior salsas not enough to give 3 stars. If you live on irving close than a trip to the mission. Go to the mission.

I can get with this place. The gentlemen working here today brought their A game. Good fresh salsa and really good carnitas. I ordered Nachos today. I was expecting a lot from this place just because I had gone to Sea Breeze yesterday and they shined bright! I just asked for a Super Nachos with black beans to go along with the carnitas and kept it moving. As I waited for the food to be prepared I noticed that there were a few other folks enjoying their meals. There is a bathroom here which is nice. Not sure if it is open to anyone and everybody but having one available is a plus. You’ll know how BEANS be moving in the body in such!!! The cooler here has a nice selection of drinks. The freezer has some ice cream. Not the kind that I would want but a good option to have here for those hot days. Two big TVs here for sports games. I watched some replay sports games while I was here. My food was incredible! The nachos had all the right portions of everything. From the salsa to the meat to the beans! This place understands distribution and quality. This may be the first taqueria that I have been to in some time that has done this properly. The meal was sensational. Oh, the menu is on a LCD screen as well. That is super cool! The prices are very respectable and appropriate for what you get.

This place is the absolute WORST. Aside from possessing no customer service I’ve watched the employees mean mug my boyfriend and call him inappropriate names in Spanish not knowing I understand spanish. If they spent all the time they invest in making the customers feel unwelcome and uncomfortable they may have semi decent food. Just go to Celia’s down the street, their food is way better anyway. I wish I could give El Beach zero stars.

TL;DR: pretty expensive joint for mediocre-decent food that you can get much cheaper and better somewhere else. I sometimes come here right before going to the beach since it’s so close, but my trips will probably be coming to an end. I usually order the steak and prawn quesadilla which are pretty good besides the fact they’re usually drenched in oil. I tried the carne asada nachos for the first time, and it didn’t meet my expectations at all. I was hoping for nachos with large amounts of toppings like most other places, but it fell short. There wasn’t much flavor either, it was pretty bland… The steak and prawn quesadilla, carne asada nachos and drinks came out to $ 24. Maybe I’m trippin but for a high price, I feel like we should have gotten a bigger portion, more bang for our buck. 3 stars for the convenience because it’s right next to ocean beach, if anything I would only recommend the steak and prawn quesadilla. Just bring a lot of napkins!

The staff attitudes are as lax as that of the Sunset neighborhood, which could either make you feel at ease and at home, or nervous about if your order was taken correctly. The burrito itself was incredible. Crispy and rich. Even the extra $ 2.20 for vegetables(!) seemed worth it in the end because the finished product was so good.
