Eliza’s used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant 5 years ago because I loved the food, while tolerating the horrendous customer service. The food quality has declined and the customer service is borderline unbearable. I honestly can’t wait for this restaurant to shut down… and be replaced by a top notch establishment like Patisserie B or Tataki. Can someone please start a petition to evict Eliza’s from our neighborhood?

I, too, have to agree with the others who wrote about the poor customer service. We rushed our other appointments to have lunch at Eliza’s today. We drove around looking for street parking, found a spot, paid for parking, arrived just before 2:30pm and was told the kitchen was closed. The posted closing time is 3pm which I checked before we left. Also, my guest was leaving town, so we could not return for dinner. I mentioned this to the manager who did not care. I cannot imagine running a business treating customers this way. And please let me know the good places to eat Chinese food in the Richmond!

Sigh. I don’t want to hoof it to the Richmond for amazing Chinese chow. So, we ended up at pricey Eliza’s. While the slightly modern setting is lovely, the dishes elegantly presented, the prices are so very Pacific Heights. Entrée prices hover around $ 10 and up. We liked our string beans with bean curd as well as the chicken stir fry with Chinese broccoli. The rice is perfectly fluffed and free refills on black tea was appreciated. The smart locals obviously come here for lunch, since they have their cheap, cheap $ 6.95 lunch deals.

The food is delicious, but they could definitely use some customer service skills! We ordered to go and they gave us the wrong order, then when I called asking for them to give me what I ordered/a refund, they absolutely refused, and they lied, saying that I never ordered what I ordered. Horrible customer service! Be careful when picking up!

I continue to love this place. Invariably get one of the specials at lunch. All lunches come with a cup of soup, tea and a fortune cookie. I have hit the trifecta when I come in and they have my fried eggplant with shrimp, brown rice and hot and sour soup. Richard knows it is my favorite. Grandson always gets house special duck. Veggies are nice and crunchy and plates are attractively presented with orange quarters(which I eat) for decoration. They do not take American express. We are part-timers on a limited budget and Eliza’s gives us a wonderful meal for a very reasonable price. The only thing bad about the place is that I am no longer satisfied with similar food back in Ohio. While the menu will not overwhelm you with way too many choices, you will have a hard time making a decision because everything sounds good. Just please, when I am in town, do not eat the last of the special eggplant with prawns!

Eliza’s is where I go. when I crave Americanized Chinese food. The hot and sour soup is really good. Come for their lunch. Any of their specials are good– cashew chicken, mapo. Service is always so pleasant here unlike a lot of the rushed service in Chinatown or clement street. Good place to have a family dinner with kids or friends. May not be a date place … Unless it’s a second date :)

Ordered a carry out rice, soup, and basil chicken. Greasy food that lacks flavor. Enough said.

My favorite Chinese food in SF. Not saying I’m an asian food pro, but I live off Clement St. and come all the way here for my Chinese, so that must say at least something right?! Usually get take out but they have always been friendly to me either way. Love their Eliza’s Spicy Chicken. Always huge and very fresh tasting.

Good God teach those people customer service. Food is ok. Place is clean bit customer service ruins it all. Is it that hard to say THANKYOU??? People choose your place to eat among thousands of others in this city. Waitress borough me chopsticks with such face as if I was asking to bring me her personal wallet. Come on!!! This is restaurant — at least be polite.

My financial advisor lives in Pac Heights and hails Eliza’s as her go-to Chinese restaurant so naturally, the first time I was asked to housesit for a week, had to try it out. If you dine in, you’ll be seated quickly. Although it’s not the highest quality of service by the staff, there’s nothing notably wrong with the service. If you take out, your order is ready under 30 minutes most of the time. Dishes worth mentioning: Eliza’s spicy chicken(extra spicy), potstickers, sizzling rice soup, won ton soup and string beans w/pork. A star off for the lack of delivery and lack of parking.

The food is delicious! I can appreciate their huge portions. I hate dining in because these people are rude. I never get a smile, and when I paid for my food earlier today the man took my money and sat my food down on the counter and walked off instead of handing it to me. It’s the little things people!!! And why is my total for the same thing I order always different?

This place is highly overrated. I have eaten here a few times only because my boss likes to go here, and I have tried many different items trying to find something that I like. Unfortunately I have yet to find a dish that was worth the price. The restaurant itself is not bad looking. Nice décor. But there is never any parking here. And don’t get me started on the customer service. It is the worst out of any restaurant that I have ever gone to. Sometimes you find a bad waiter at a restaurant but this is not the case. All the workers here are extremely rude. Even when I call to place an order for pick up for my boss, they never say thank you, don’t wait to see if you are finished with your order, and just hang up on you. If it weren’t for my boss who for some reason thinks this is the only Chinese restaurant in the city,(she is a 92 year old lady) I would never come back to this place.

This Chinese eatery in PacHeights is somewhat neglected on Unilocal — probably because it’s located in a very residential area between Divis and Richmond. Nothing else there other than apartment buildings. Surprisingly packed at dinner time on a Friday night, Eliza’s has an inviting yet a bit outdated interior — large colored glass walls, a small bar, and around 15 tables. Our party got seated quickly and glanced at the menu. The food seems to be tailored to the neighborhood — Chinese food for the Western taste, which is not necessarily a bad thing, if done right. The BROCCOLIBEEF w/WHITE RICE($ 12) was tasty and quite alright, the portion size however pretty small. I tried the HONEYWALNUTSHRIMP w/WHITE RICE($ 12) which was satisfying both in plate size and flavor. I’ll go back there to try some more from their menu but so far it has been an okay experience.

We only have been here a couple times but each time it was delicious. Chow mien, sizzling rice soup and vegetable Kung pow was very tasty.

This is one of my favorite chinese restaurants in the area. Sit down is quiet and quaint… the décor is a bit cheesy Chinese restaurant, lol. Instead, i just love to order their food or take out, take it home, curl up on the couch with a friend, watch a movie and munch on all the Chinese goodness I ordered from this place. It’s the best way to eat the stuff from here. My favorite is the pan fried noodles, so good! But I would have to say that everything my friends have ordered, or I have seen people order looks good and fresh. Definitely a must try. Make sure to grab a menu when you pick up your first order, so you have it handy for future take out orders. You will be back for more orders, I promise;)

I must confess. The lunch menu portions leave me hungry. I’m not a big guy and still if I dabble with the specials I feel like I just had an appetizer. So I do the sensible thing and order from the«regular» menu. For $ 10(pre tax and tip) I chow down on some delicious food and walk out happy. What else can you possibly want from a little place that makes no claims to groundbreaking technique and has zero pretension? It’s clean. It’s tasty. It’s really affordable. And the chicken or pork with long bean(and the hint of smoke that lingers on) is killer. I don’t care if the wait staff aren’t big on smiling. That’s not why I’m here.
