I could go on and on about how great the food was, because it truly was, but I won’t. One can easily find great food and steak at many places in SF area. However, when you are spending as much money as we did for that great food it had better come with something more, far too many high priced places have a «you should feel privileged to be here» elitist attitude. The service, Staff and overall ambiance was outstanding!!! Kind, attentive, personable. We called in a day prior to reserve a patio table to accommodate our German Shepherd. When we arrived we were graciously greeted, and were seated at the perfect table with an awesome view of the bay bridge. Our waitress and many other staff were very kind to us and to our four legged companion, the manager even stopped by to make sure we were happy with our experience, very cool guy. I really cannot say enough about this place, we plan on, and look forward to returning here every time we visit this beautiful city. The only negative I can say is that most high end steak houses I have been to serve the steak on a very hot ceramic or cast iron plate to keep the steak nice and warm throughout the meal. That would have been nice especially considering we were on an outdoor patio.

I’ve been to Epic dozens of times over the years and have always gone under the pretense that the cost of real estate is built into menu pricing, which is cool. What isn’t cool is having a hungover/drunk server who messes up your drink and food order to the point where you just want to leave without eating! I expect more from a restaurant with this price point and I’d highly recommend that management start sobriety checks pre-shift moving forward! Luckily the views from the outside bar area kept us smiling, but there will be hesitation next time I’m deciding on outdoor seating in SF for brunch.

Epic Steak was nothing shy of phenomenal! The wait staff was on point from start to finish! We started with a couple of crab cocktails and shrimp cocktails followed by a couple filets with family style sides(must try the Julia Child potatoes)! It was such an incredible meal filled with so much flavor from start to finish! I’d highly recommend Epic if you’re looking for a steakhouse while in SF!

This is only 3 Stars because of the menu choices. The service was Very Good, the view from the upstairs bar and the dining room are Awesome and the prices are fair for this location. I had a large corporate group and we had several appetizers: Shrimp Cocktail(Fair), Tuna Tartare(Excellent) and the Dungeness Crab Cocktail(Very Small and Not Great) The entrees varied in the group but the best steak was the the Prime Dry Aged Ribeye. The Filet steaks were good but small. I strongly advise the Side Items at Epic Steak. The Spätzle Gratin and«Julia Child» Potatoes should have lights around them on the menu, both are that good! I would return for the view, the side items and the drinks.

I have lived near by Epic for many years, enjoying the view and service since their opening. The Roasthouse is a pretty good choice if you are within walking distance but there are other better places for a steak. Strengths: Views Valet parking Predictable dishes Needs Improvement: Management appears to be over worked and stressed out Service is off and on I will drop by again in a few weks and update this review. I like the space and my guests love the views.

Unfortunately — as noted before — this place is just not the same since the re branding. Three times in a row the cuts and temps on the steaks are just not what they were. Too bad.

You really are paying for beautiful views, and not the best food. I do have to say that I made an appetizer and side dishes a meal. Even if I just ordered an appetizer and 2 sides, I still paid a good amount of money. I should have just ordered an entrée. I ordered the foie gras appetizer, some type of rich potato dish(can’t remember the name) and broccolini. The foie gras was small and it wasn’t cheap. For a very small portion of foie gras, I believe it was at least 25 dollars. Yes, it’s to be expected. I just miss the portions in Europe. I really didn’t think it was a good piece of foie gras. The potato dish was very rich and cheesy. I barely could eat a quarter of it. The broccolini was okay. The food was not memorable. All I can remember was how beautiful the view was. How sad!

Love love love this place !!! I just don’t understand stand how a bacon cheese burger can be so good and so ?? Soft ??? I don’t know how to describe it, I took a bite of my son’s burger and I didn’t want to give it back lol man was it good. So both me and my husband got skirt steak, his got his well and mine medium well … THANKYOU to the cooks for actually cooking them correctly ridiculous flavor and cooked to perfection. Samuel was our server and he was absolutely great !! Never forgot about us, always checking to see if we were OK, just a really great guy. We were a bit skeptic to stop in for lunch because we had been driving all night and got to San Francisco a few hours earlier than our check in time and wernt looking our best lol and this is a very nice place but we came in anyway and so glad we did. Thank you all for being great !

We have eaten in many fine steak restaurants over the years, but never have we had a steaks as good as these! Just incredibly flavorful. Honestly, I don’t eat a lot of red meat, and when I do, I want it to be the best, and this was! The view of the lights of the Bay Bridge was second to none, it feels almost 3D! The wine and salads were also excellent and the service was top notch. We had actually met our waiter at another restaurant he had worked at previously, and he remembered what drink my partner liked to order. We thought that was awesome and we felt very well taken care of. This is also a great spot for small wedding parties and special occasions.

What a great dinner! Was not expecting it to be so crowded on a Wednesday night but good thing I made reservations. Beautiful restaurant with beautiful views of the Bay Bridge. It looked as though there were tons of different options of places to sit(main dining room, bar, outside, etc.). Our host was very nice and asked us which are we preferred to sit it. Once we were seated, our waiter came right away and opened our bottle of wine to breathe(corkage fee: $ 25 for your first two bottles). We started with seasonal drinks… I got the cucumber martini. SODELICIOUS. I was apprehensive because most are too sweet but this was perfection. We also started with oysters and tuna sashimi which were both really good. The sashimi was a bit too salty but I still enjoyed it. For our mains, I had the short rib with fettucinni and my boyfriend had the New York steak(on bone, 20 oz!). The short rib was fantastic, amazing flavor. The steak was great too. Perfectly cooked. Overall great experience. Good service and good food.

While not spectacular, the steaks here are better than the chains and worth a visit. It could be better for a steakhouse but I wouldn’t avoid just because of that reason. The location and dining room atmosphere is top-notch since it doesn’t feel cramped and chaotic, or too swanky to not feel welcome. The view of the Bay Bridge is a given, so go here if just for that. Upstairs will give you an outdoor/patio closer view! Also, there is bar for drinks and HH so can’t go wrong. Good place to catch up or hang out after work. However, I wished their two TVs were larger; basically they’re monitors. Don’t expect a sports bar if you’re visiting. Their Burger Beer & a Brownie for $ 20 is a deal and it’s always available! Their HH ends at 6:30pm, reasonably late considering it’s a steakhouse.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening for happy hour and dinner. The shrimp cocktail and oysters were excellent, and the chicken wings had a thin crust with the perfect crunch. The mint mousse was different and delicious. However, the steak was disappointing. My coworker and I had both gotten a petite filet. Her rare petite filet arrived medium rare and my medium rare filet arrived medium well. The meat was neither flavorful nor juicy, and while it was tender, it was extremely bland. The quality of the steak was shocking for price point and for place with«steak» in its name.

Stopped by the bar upstaris for drinks. They seemed to have some good specials, and the food looked good, but we just had a lot of wine. The wine selection was excellent, service was decent overall. The place is nice, but a bit dated. Nice views of the bay(but we didn’t have them sitting at the bar).

Solely went to EPIC Steak because of the location along the Embarcadero with stunning views of the water. This place is great on a beautiful day to enjoy a cocktail or two. When I went, it was a beautiful Wednesday evening, and it was happy hour(boy was I happy). They have decent food and drink deals, with a daily beer special, cocktail specials, wine of the day, etc. I didn’t actually order from the Happy Hour menu because my drink of choice that day was not included. I really really wanted a mojito, and I got it, and it was delicious(despite costing $ 12 but that’s kinda standard around there). The food that other patrons were ordering looked delicious and fancy — wasn’t your typical happy hour grub, but was more upscale — saw some tartare in there. I would absolutely recommend EPIC Steak if you are looking for a Happy Hour in the FiDi and want to enjoy the weather. The restaurant has lots of space for seating both upstairs and downstairs, great views, and delicious drinks.

EPIC has the best restaurant view in San Francisco. With sparkling water, the glimmering light show of the Bay Bridge and sweeping panoramas, it’s hard not to fall in love instantly. When I was visiting San Francisco, I visited EPIC for dinner with family. The food is standard for a steakhouse. My uncle loved the rib eye, and I opted for the pork shank. We started with the lobster bisque and shrimp cocktail, which did not disappoint! The food is pricy for the already pricy San Francisco, but the service in the restaurant was top notch. The staff were very knowledgable and engaging, and I always appreciate when the service is fast. The inside of the restaurant was physically really warm, which seemed a little odd given the lovely weather outside. This can be a pet peeve, as I’d always rather be a little chilly than hot. Regardless, EPIC also has an outdoor patio that overlooks the water, and you cannot beat the chic vibe it exudes. Would love to come back here for happy hour and enjoy the view!

Came here for Valentine’s day with my bae under the bay bridge, and let me tell you that view did set the mood. Appetizer: I wanted the squab breast with foie gras dumplings because I love foie gras. The broth is came in was room temperature and the squab was great-the only thing that I didn’t like was the tail that was with the breast? It was fatty and chewy and I spat it back into the plate-classy I know. I really liked the appetizer actually-except the tail. Main Course: For the entrée I got the braised ribs that were atop a small pile of mashed potatoes and he got the filet mignon. Thinking it was one of those places that have small portions and you won’t get full off of one entrée, I decided to order more food. We got the broccoli raabe side with the Julia Child potatoes. We tried 2 sauces for the steak-the epic steak sauce(yum yum yum, 4 stars for this sauce lol), and the chimichurri. Could have cut out one side because by the end of the night we were suppperrr full. The potatoes were worth it though, if you had to pick a side I would have gone with that. We didn’t even have room for dessert, but the menu was offered. The bill was… not paid by me but I would say 3 $‘s haha. TLDR: Get the braised ribs and Julia Child potatoes with a glass of red wine. additional sides and appetizers are totalllyy optional.

Had Happy Hour drinks here outside. Wells are $ 5 bucks and really great options for snacks too – though we mostly went for the liquid diet. Perfect place to catch the sunset & catch up with friends/colleagues basically on the water. Great service, will be back for dinner very soon!

Vegetarians should go nuts for this place. I had the pleasure of dining at EPIC Steak over the recent holidays and it was out of this world outstanding in every imaginable way. The server was quick to accommodate and provide additional non-menu items, as well as the confidence that the chef had an on-hand vegetarian special. Needless to say, it’s nice to know that the kind folks in the kitchen are on top of it. We ended up ordering many things, and the chef’s special was among them. I was skeptical at first, but everything was incredibly delicious and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Meh… I’ve had better. Came in today with a buddy for an early lunch(2:30pm) and we both decided for the $ 20 burger special. We were seated outside but they had a adequate amount of patio heating. We both ordered the burger special. I have to admit, we were both disappointed. We both requested medium and got close to well done. I would have said something but our server didn’t swing by for a good minute or so. My friend mentioned that his burger was way over done and all he got was an acknowledgement that they would notify the kitchen. I’m no keyboard warrior but a simple apology would have been just fine. Case and point, it wasn’t that great of an experience. I think what happened was our burgers were given to the party next to us which likely was the cause of getting the two well done burgers. I think I“ll pass next time. $ 75 for two burgers, no alcohol, and one salad split. No thanks.

To be clear, I enjoy coming to this place and going straight to the bar. They offer an small selection of bar eats that includes the best burger in this part of town. I also recommend the meatballs and the nuts. I all, the food is great but can be pricey. The house cocktails are fantastic, specially the White Dog Sour. I think the Old Fashioned could use some work though. They have a good beer selection

We came here the night of New Year’s Eve to beat the cold while waiting for the fireworks. We wanted to go up to the bar but they were at capacity so we all used the restroom & by the time we finished, they told us we could go up. The bar was full but not overcrowded which I liked; they did a good job of monitoring that. The drinks were a bit pricey which is expected from a steak house but the atmosphere was cozy. We stayed long enough to finish our drinks then walk right outside to see the fireworks just in time! Happy New Year!!!

You will be overpaying for the view and I typically don’t mind except the recent menu is just not that great anymore. For example, their salads used to be much better with larger portion(I weigh about 104lbs and left the restaurant hungry 2 weeks ago!) — can we get the yummy kale salad back WITHOUT the yogurt sauce? Expect to pay $ 30 – 35 for a salad during lunch(after you add steak or prawns). Burgers used to be better as well — can we go back to the old menu and recipe? Positives: outdoor seating is super nice. spacious, dog friendly and the view is always stunning.

Perfect refuge on a rainy day. Sit inside, stare at the bridge, drink, eat some fries. Repeat. Cool spot to hit up on a sunny day as well. Def hit this spot up, and avoid Water Bar(where they’re full of themselves and have poor service). I’d just order apps at Epic tho, and vino. Enjoy the view. Have some bread. It’s yummy. Drink. Stare at the bridge thru your wine glass. You feel me, just relax.

Technically, Monday was my second time at EPIC. Technically, I was here once before, in October on a date that went horribly wrong in a hurry. We were having drinks outside and watching the Georgia/Alabama game, and the next thing I know she’s yelling at me for texting during our special time. I’d love to blame EPIC for that, but it probably wouldn’t be fair to them. The bartender tactfully pretended not to notice my crazy date, so bonus points for that. This time, though… I came here with my friend to celebrate his thirty-somethingth birthday. My experience this time around was substantially better. It was borderline EPIC.(hey, if everyone else is going to use this pun, why not me?) I really liked the steak, the service, and the customization options — what more could you ask for? We were seated at a nice table away from the windows, but we still had a fantastic view of the Bay and the Bay Bridge. I was thinking about all those people stuck on the bridge on a rainy winter day, and I was glad I wasn’t one of them. I started with a build-your-own-salad. While it sounds cheesy and Sizzler-ish, it’s actually quite amazing. Everything you want on your salad and nothing you don’t for a low, low price of $ 16. Seriously though, you get to pick your lettuce, your dressing, your mix-ins and your add-ons, and they make it for you. I certainly enjoyed my creation, and I didn’t even have to lift a finger. That’s my kind of salad. For my main course I had the bone-in New York strip. Our waiter, who was pretty amazing in his own right, promised an 18 – 20 oz steak. I ordered it rare plus, but my steak arrived rare. I didn’t complain, because it was a perfectly prepared rare steak. Be forewarned, though, as EPIC’s version of rare is indeed rare. I am talking dark, dark red in color and cool to the touch. I am not sure if they didn’t hear me ask for rare plus, or they just don’t accommodate rare plus requests, but… whatever they did, it worked. The meat itself was one the fattier side, so be prepared for that. We had Julia Child’s potatoes(think au gratin) and spätzle as our sides, so the carboloading was in full effect that night. The sides were good, but not EPIC. For dessert, I had a «make-your-own» sundae. If you are thinking it’s a bit Chuck E. Cheese-y, let me assure you that it is not. At $ 10, you get some very upscale flavors and toppings. It’s not your average ice cream dessert. My creation was delicious and Christmas themed(peppermint bark, gingerbread, etc). In spite of what my wallet and my waistline might tell you, it was a wonderful meal. I woke up the next morning with my stomach very full and my wallet very empty. Also, note to self: when coming to EPIC, bring your best friends, not crazy dates. Sheeeeeeesh.

This place turns girlfriends into finances. Like Yogi Berra used to say, «It’s too popular. No one goes there anymore.» It’s a little noisy but that adds to the bourgee vibe. The streak is to die for. I’m talking filets with the truffle butter… and the mushrooms that taste like bacon… with the Donna Fuggatta desert wine ;) I took my beautiful, super model girlfriend here and she loved it. She’s always asking me to take her back. If you don’t mind dropping a few hundred on dinner, this place is definitely worth adding into to the rotation.

Some friends and I made dinner reservations here. We were fortunate enough to be seated right next to the window with a view of the bay and bridge. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. That definitely helped elevate the ambiance and set a sexy mood for the evening. We had my buddy’s wife do the honor of ordering wine for all of us. She chose a bottle of Rubicon Estate Cask Cabernet 2008; ok we had 3 bottles worth and every droplet was tasty. Haha! I didn’t have any appetizers so I can’t comment on that. I obviously can’t vouch for anyone else’s taste buds but I will say that I’ve had better dry aged ribeye steaks. Don’t get me wrong, it was darn good and I’d butter knife fight anyone who’d try and steal it from my plate but yeah, I wouldn’t write home about it. The service was really great. I wish I had noted our waitress’ name but yeah, I have to remind you about the aforementioned 3 bottles of vino. LOL! I did make a point to personally thank her for the great experience as we exited the restaurant. I would definitely return to this establishment. It’s an ideal dinner date restaurant.

One of our favorite Brunch restaurants in Embarcadero: We go there at least one a month! The outdoor seating is lovely! A mixture between Toscanian and San Franciscan: under an umbrella, close to an old olive tree while overlooking the bay bridge. The food is good: one of my favorite in this season Grilled Skirt Steak, with an additional side order of French fries. We love also the Bay Bubbles drink: sparking white wine, with a juice of your choice, and perfect for sharing! Their desert menu is pretty good in general as well. The restaurant brunch is perfect for family & kids(good selection for the kids menu as well) The waitresses and waiters are are very friendly, professional and knowledgeable at the same time.

I love the Bay Bridge view from the Epic patio. Even for a local, it’s stunning. I would say our dining experience was about average. The food was great, but there were mishaps: — we didn’t receive an item(although they ran and got it) — one of the items wasn’t as expected — both lattes were barely warm However, the food itself was great. The seafood parfait was so fresh and tasty, and the brussel sprouts were like candy. The salads were average, and the coffees unacceptable due to being cold. There was confusion on table numbers, and I suspect someone else got some of our order. These may seem like small gripes, but when you’re paying $ 100 + for lunch, you expect these things to be flawless.

I have been here a bunch of times, both at the bar upstairs and dining lunch and dinner. Décor/ambiance: You cannot beat the view, the place is by the water looking at the majestic span of the Bay Bridge jutting out of the city towards Yerba Buena. Décor is modern and cool, the only ding is that at full throttle it is very noisy, so those of you on a date night be warned. Food: It is very good, but very pricey and the $$$ rating is appropriate. It can be inconsistent though. Last time I had the 9 oz filet mignon, and while it came medium rare as ordered, it was a bit lukewarm. Oysters when in season are to die for. Outstanding wine selection will span from Amarone($ 525) to great bottles in the $ 40s and $ 50s. Service: Solid and attentive. Have to occasionally ask the bus boy to fetch the server…

They may be an epic steakhouse but they know what they’re doing with the fish plates too. Came here for a holiday party and our large group was treated to the outside patio with wonderful service! Drinks and appetizers were constantly being refilled and a tender beef in delicious chimichurri sauce was very popular. For my main course I had the bass and it was as moist and flavorful. Very fun and wonderful location — especially at night!

As Michael Bauer says, enjoy the view, and I can’t agree more. Foods aren’t bad, but have to be decent with the price. The damage for Sunday was $ 500 for 4 ps. We had: –4 glasses of Pino –7-up –milk(cuz I got drunk from the soup) –3 kinds of oysters –Halibut Carpaccio –Caesar salad –4 L Bisque –Ribeye(all steaks with mushrooms) –NY –2 F Mignon –Miso w Truffle butter –Julia potatoes –Gratin –Beans –B Sprouts –Choco cake con I cream –Sorbet –2 one scoop ice cream, Bberry & Vanilla –2 coffees –Espresso I gave you the list so that the readers know that I did come and ate. My verdict is: Go for the view, not the foods. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To the management: Hi. I have a few words about your Lobster bisque. I’m allergic to alcohol, and because your soup had some(brandy), I almost passed out, and it would have ruin the entire night, and my guests’ last trip to SF. As I recall, your menu doesn’t say anything about alcohol, neither your server, in fact, he said it’s good to order milk for that… of course, but after a glass of milk, with my figure, it ruined my meal with full stomach. I didn’t eat anything the whole day for this dinner so that I could enjoy a good steak, but your soup killed my good intention. I might look I could drink tons, but I don’t, so please know someone like me does exist. And please don’t give me anything because I’m old and wealthy enough to avoid becoming a beggar. Thank you.

I started a new job downtown and my co-workers took me out to lunch at EPIC. We sat on a covered patio with a gorgeous view of the bay and bridge. We were immediately given baskets of delicious crunchy french bread with pats of unsalted butter. Why unsalted? Because they bring you a palette of salts from around the world. I put too much of the charcoal salts on but it was still fun. Lunchtime cocktails on a workday? Yes please! I got some kind of basil and cucumber martini that was delicious and refreshing. Most of my coworkers order the EPIC express but I got the fresh halibut. It came on a bed of roasted corn and a fried squash patty with a delicious basil sauce. Everything was fantastic. It was just the right amount of food and exquisitely delicious.

Years ago, I went to Epic Steak with the roommate before he was the roommate. We sat at the bar downstairs and had a drink. This past week, on Tuesday, July 21st, a group of us stopped by around 7:30pm after happy hour elsewhere down the Embarcadero. I never knew they had an outdoor patio upstairs, but it’s an awesome place to have a drink and catch up with friends. The view is amazing! We spent a couple of hours outside drinking beer and Talisker. Our server was wonderful and was great at timing her check ins as we had a group 6 and finished our drinks at different times. I was never without a drink in my hand. Wonderful upstairs patio with a view. Next time, I think I’ll try some of their bar bites too.
