Can’t speak for the sandwiches but I crave the Chinese chicken salad. So delicious! And very generous size for the price.

Espostos is a great deli with quality food. The only problem is that they dont know how to answer their phone. I prefer to call in my order because my lunch break is short. I can count a lot of times they have lost my business simply because no one answers the phone. Today I called and their phone isnt even on. Wish they would fix this problem.

Felt like a deli style sandwich today. Found this place near me today. Got the Great Bambino. Wasn’t all that great. The guy who made it for me forgot the cheese. Was it suppose to not come with the usual? Lettuce? tomatoes? Etc? How was the service you ask? The reason I went with the Great Bambino is because I wanted to make my own sandwich. When I tried ordering new online, it had a liverworse option. I asked the guy if he had any. He didn’t know what j was talking about. Guess he never had it before. He was very soft spoken and seemed like he didn’t care if I was there or not. 3 stars because the food was ok. Wish there were more options for sandwiches. I probably wouldn’t go back there. Find someplace else. Would I recommend t to my friends and others? Um… No…

So we were headed to UCSF for our sons PET scan for his nueroblastoma. We ordered food on our way over the bridge. We run in grab it and head to the appointment. Get to hospital open food realize that put cheeze on my wife sandwich. We both have real bad dairy allergies. Everyone makes mistakes so my wife calls to tell them. The older woman proceeds to argue with my wife saying she did not say no cheeze. We never have cheeze on anything! Finally I get on and she says of we will make another. I wait then get order and quickly run across street to my appointment. My wife open the bag and yep sandwich in incorrect again. So we call back again. They said oh yea we gave you someone else’s sandwich no sorry OR any type of apologies. So my wife had to wait another 1.5 hrs to eat. We go back after appointment and wait for another 20 min and finally get our correct order. Still no sorry just rude attitude for the older woman inside. Nice!!! I recommend giving your money to a more decent person than this lady.

The Reuben sandwich is amazing. Completely stuffed with Pastrami. A half sandwich was enough to fill me. Highly recommended by myself and hospital(USCF) staff as well.

I couldn’t even count how many times we would grab a sandwich, salad & drink at Esposto’s original location in San Mateo during the 70’s &80’s. On a recent trip to Mission Bay I was amazed that they have a location there and insisted that we get sandos there for a client lunch meeting. Good call. It was like stepping into a Deli time warp where the meat is piled high, no skimping on quality cheeses & veggies and the bread is fresh that morning. You guys simply killed it, nice work!

I got the Desi’s Delight and it was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. The staff was polite and efficient. You get what you pay for at this play. I will definitely go there again.

Finally checked out Esposto’s after having been at UCSF for three years. Pros: –spacious, good lighting, outdoor seating –damn good sandwiches and salads(recommend building your own). Flavorful, filling, and generous with the meat! Cons: –flies. Lots of flies buzzing around inside the shop… –pricing is a bit hefty; expect to pay around $ 10 for your lunch

It sounds good to call ahead and get an email when your food is ready, right? But the thing is, they pass your email address along to other businesses. I just got an email, to an address that only existed for Espostos preorders, for a Curry Up Now promotion. Taaaaacky. As for the food, it was adequate deli stuff, took more time to get(without phoning ahead) than I’d prefer. But even if I were still in the Mission Bay area, it’s not got enough flavor to make up for the spam.

This place used to be amazing. I can’t say the same now. Had lunch here today. There were about five flies buzzing around, the other side of the ordering counter had a floor that was full of papers and plastic that was not picked up. The veggie lasagna lacked the flavor that it once had. The person working the register was trying to keep everything rolling, but you could tell that he was going most than his fair share of the work. I hope this place gets better! It used to be.

Sadly Esposto’s has fallen in rank on my list of go-to lunch places when I don’t have lunch for work. I was pleased one time when I had a salad(granted I spent a little over $ 10 for said salad), but it was tasty and was a good sized portion. The only complaint I had was that the employee who made it was a little heavy handed on the dressing, but all in all I enjoyed my salad. So one day after several hours of work, a coworker and I were taking a late lunch(3:40pm) and super hungry and I was craving a salad. Decided to come here, only to see that their salad bar was already dismantled. I asked the employee if they still have salads, only to be told they close their salad bar at 3pm(when they close at 5pm). Disappointing. She settled on a sandwich(~$ 6) and i got a ½pint of pesto pasta salad for $ 6. I could have gone to Safeway and paid maybe less than $ 4 for the amount that I got here. In hindsight, we both didn’t think our items were worth it and should have just left when we saw the salad bar was closed. We let hunger and lack of concentration get the better of us. For $ 2 more we could have gone to Z Crepes around the corner and gotten a panini or crêpe that would have lasted for 2 meals. Also agree with what Matt L. said about their stamp card rule. I don’t see why salads don’t apply and get a punch on the stamp card when they cost the same(or even more!). It’s definitely on the bottom of my lunch spot rotation… Honestly I may ask to buy their dressing here but buy the dry salad at Z Crepes. It might be cheaper

Regular lunch spot for me. Try the Great Bambino, Oriental Chicken Salad, and Ray’s Rueben. Decent beverage selection and discreet location. Can get crowded during peak lunch hour.

This used to be my go-to spot for lunch because it’s right by UCSF and a slight improvement over the other options on campus. The chicken caesar salad always hit the spot, and the staff knew how to threw in plenty of chicken and greens. But some of the staff has since turned over and it’s suddenly the case of the incredible shrinking salad. I could get more greens in a large spring roll than I do in their $ 9 salad. There’s also the inexplicable rule that sandwiches get you a punch on the«free meal» card, but salads do not(even though they cost the same price). As the great Bart Simpson said, «You don’t win friends with salad.» But you do win customers. Back to Peasant Pies for me!

Great hidden place behind UCSF. I first tried the Esposto’s in San Mateo and digged their sandwiches. I like Esposto’s for it’s cafeteria style Italian fare. They have ravioli, lasagna, and sandwiches. The one thing I repeatedly get here is the prosciutto sandwich. 1. Because I love prosciutto, and 2. You really just can’t go wrong with it. They also have hot coppa and other meats, sliced on the spot when you order. The prices are under $ 10, and you can get a half sandwich half soup combo for $ 7.25. The prosciutto sandwich is HUGE! and a normal person can probably split it into two meals. For me though, I finish it on the spot.

Great for take-out! I work right across the street and at 11am I ordered 10 meals to pick up at noon. They had everything ready, on-time with no errors in the order. The food is great too and reasonably priced. By the way, the steak salad is excellent!

Good local deli. I’ve tried sandwiches and hot dishes. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve eaten there. Customer service is good too. Place is clean which is always a plus. I recommend: 1) Spaghetti 2) Steak Salad 3) Everything else 4) Order online for lunch and you cut the long lines they sometimes get.

I just started working in this area and started to explore all the food! We had to order lunch for the office and chose this place across the street. I faxed over the order for pick up. My fax order had numbers on them next to the names of the employees so they can mark the boxes. Of course with excel the punctuation period next to the number was erased so esposto’s thought it was the amount of dishes for each order instead of just a list. So we get there and they made a lot more food then we ordered and it was totally my fault!!! I apologized profusely and they were so kind about it, that is fantastic customer service right there. Food was good, everyone enjoyed in the office. I will definitely order from them again and will not make the same mistake twice! Thank you Espostos for being so kind and wonderful! We will return!

I had a wonderful sandwich at Esposto’s earlier in the week. I was previously familiar with their San Mateo delis, but this was my first time visiting the SF location, and it was a great experience. It is tucked into the Mission Bay /UCSF development on Owens Street, and although it was busy at around 1215 midweek, the line moved smoothly, and our sandwiches were prepared quickly. There was adequate seating both inside and outside. My friend and I both enjoyed the Valentino’s One and Only — it was great! With your first bite– you will notice that the bread at Esposto’s really stands out — VERY fresh and tasty– I had the sourdough roll and it was the *perfect* selection for this sandwich. Stuffed with coppa and prosciutto, this rivaled any sandwich I have had at my other local sandwich favorites in SF. Although I’m not often in this area, I am happy to discover this location. The relatively cheap and convenient parking in the adjacent building will ensure that I’ll be back again soon!
