Fascinating Rhythm

Marge is a patient, constructive and fun instructor. I first met Marge many years ago when I took ballroom dancing through CCSF’s extended courses. She was great and I loved those classes. I recently took up salsa via nightclub lessons and though fun, I got to a point where I felt I wasn’t learning and was stuck. I decided to take some private lessons, looked to see if Marge was teaching and found her.
I’ve taken one 4-​class series so far and have fine tuned my basic steps and have learned some other cool moves. Good fun, great stress relief, working off those holiday calories and free parking in front, doesn’t get any better. I highly recommend Fascinating Rhythm.

Fascinating Rhythm turned out to be exactly what my wife and I were looking for! My wife loves to dance and I have 3 left feet. I surprised her with a 4 class series of classes with Marge Gabbert, private studio in her home. Also, very reasonably priced. Four classes turned into 2 years; we would still be learning from Marge but we have moved out of San Francisco.
Marge has everything you want in a dance teacher, or any teacher. She has the bona fides and clearly knows her stuff. She also knows how to make it understandable at a student’s level regardless what that may be. She explains everything, and then explains it more if that is what you ask. She wants you to know the underlying stuff that makes dancing special, so you «get» why certain steps go the way they do and combine the way they do. She does not simply mechanically lay out the steps. So when you learn it is not just following the footsteps on the floor but REAL dancing.
You can always ask any question, you can belabor something you are not grasping, she welcomes you to fool around. Learning the tango I found an artificial rose lying around and spent my learning time with it clenched between my teeth! And I think that experience
encapsulates it: you do learn to dance, you can improve to any level, you can choose any dance, but most of all: YOU WILL HAVE TONS OF FUN!!!

Marge is amazing. First let me tell you I am not the dancing type… Until I started taking classes with Marge.
My wife and I wanted to find someone to teach us our «first dance» for our wedding. We were tired of seeing couples dance in circles slowly :)
Within a few weeks Marge had us dancing our own dance to our own music. I was extremely pleased and happy to not be another couple just dancing in circles. The result was amazing.
We now take bi monthly classes to learn salsa!

My fiancé and I took lessons for a couple months in preparation for our wedding. We could not be happier with the results! Marge taught everything in tiny pieces that we were able to easily learn. She was extremely patient and supportive when I struggled.
The best part for me was that she seemed to get genuinely excited for us — every time we got something right or got an idea for something to add, she would be thrilled. I felt like she was really living our dance and our marriage prep with us.
My fiancé had never taken dance lessons before and was able to pick everything up and get really comfortable on the dance floor for the first time.
Also, her prices are by far the cheapest in the area. We plan to leave her a large tip when we take the final class in a couple weeks!

We took 4 lessons, and both my fiancé and i lived long distance, so not lots of practice time.
She broke our dance down in baby steps, and carefully chosed choreagraphy that were simple but made us look good!
