Faultline Studios

FaultLine is a great place not only for your entire band to bring your record to life, but also for songwriters (like me) to breathe life into individual songs. I went to FaultLine and said «my job is to bring in this song and do the basics, your job is to make it cool» and that’s what they did. I worked with Roberto. He was great. Patient and professional, but with the vibe of an old friend.
You can’t beat the $ 300 for an 8 hour block in their studio C and they’re located in a nice, up & coming neighborhood with plenty to choose from when it’s time to recharge your battery.
I’d recommend FaultLine to anyone looking to get your music recorded. Great energy, cool staff and awesome equipment. I’ll definitely be going back.

Faultline Studios has an amazing vibe. I have recorded a number of times there, both with my band, EFFT, and also one-​time side projects — and have always felt inspired and comfortable. Yosh! has been my engineer every time, and he is nothing short of meticulous. He is knowledgeable not only with mics, and recording techniques — but he is also extremely intuitive when it comes to achieving specific «sounds» that give the music that added authenticity. He is a master at the mixing board. Yosh! knows how to polish every mix to perfection — I have had such fun times with him during our mix sessions. He keeps a great attitude and focus even during the longest hours of mixing! I love the ideas he comes up with when mixing. It is clear that he loves bringing his recordings to life.
I have always been very happy with our work together, and would definitely recommend working with Faultline Studios. Yosh! is brilliant, and extremely enjoyable to work with. Thanks, Yosh!

I recently discovered Faultine Studios, working with Producer/​Engineer, Jorge Hernandez. It’s an amazing space filled with hard working, talented professionals. Jorge, of course, being one of them. I came down to get my single mix/​mastered, and I received more than I expected. The quality I received not only in the service, but in the SOUND was phenomenal. Thanks Jorge!

Faultline is the SF hub for dedicated, highly talented, experienced, and welcoming engineers.
My band has recorded 2 – 3 times with Yosh and I can’t recall you how many times he has worked into the midnight hours just to perfect the sound that we were hearing in our heads. Not to mention, times when you may become stuck in your own creative process, Yosh has a gentle way of guiding you out of it by suggesting different ideas.
I’m always amazed by the investment Faultline engineers pour into each song as if they were in the band themselves. Never have I witnessed any engineers at Faultline being jaded, bored, or unprofessional as you may come across in other recording studios.
Look no further! Faultline is where you want to record your next album!

why go to hyde street blow your money with jaded engineers that just want to move on to the next money bags super star.
if you want to be treated by humble true professionals that are knowledgeable helpful and caring this is the only spot for your projects.
best studio in the bay area in my opinion.
then again i prefer hands on engineers that arent just pushing you out to move on to the next project.
the gear list is impeccable, and the guitar room id fully stocked with a cure for whatever ales you.

A very nice professional studio at a budget price.
My band has an unusual instrument lineup — saxophone, lap steel, guitar, bass and drums, with all of us singing at some time or another. We used Faultline’s «dead» room to record the sax and vocals, and used the main room for the drums, with the guitar and bass amps set up in the second studio (Studio B). They dialed in good tones on the guitars, bass and drums right away.
Our engineer (Josh) and his two assistants (Eric and Dmitry) had us up and ready to record quickly, and we managed to knock out three songs in a day. We did overdubs where necessary to fix parts that weren’t as good as they could have been.
They have a great selection of amps and guitars if yours isn’t working or you want a different sound. They’re right around the corner from the Brainwash Café if you want some coffee or something to eat. It’s easy to get to the studio from either 101 or 280.
I don’t like recording myself much, but Faultline made it a pleasant experience. I’d definitely use them again and recommend them with no hesitation.
