Fregosi & Company Paint

I have always really liked this store until the horrible encounter I had with the associate today. I never post reviews but the man at the counter was so incredibly rude that I felt compelled to write this.
I went in to buy paint matching some chips from my wall, which I’ve done there numerous times before. He said my chips were small but seemed to be willing to try to use them. As soon as I asked him to explain if he thought he could do it he got defensive and rude. I explained that I was just trying to understand because I had done it there before with paint chips of the same size he said «everyone is different.» I asked when the other associate who was able to help me before would be in again he said, «they won’t, I’m the only one that’s here always.» At some point he said he could try to match the color if I wanted to take the risk of buying the wrong color but when I asked him to explain he changed his mind and then refused to do it at all. When I asked again if I could speak with someone else like the owner/​manager who’s always been able to match colors for me before he said «no, you don’t need to talk to anyone.»
I would love to go back and try again with someone else but since the man working there today claims he is their only employee and that he works there every day of the week, it doesn’t seem possible.

Well Ben R. Or should I say Ed Lee… Your wrong on all counts. No other employee has knowledge of this review, I’m a small business owner that walked in on you and you can’t handle it. I will be informing the Better Business Bureau of your lewd acts.

When I walk into this small business I feel like I am visiting my friends and neighbors.
They could not be more helpful.

I needed paint badly after a trip to another local hardware store proved unsuccessful. I pre-​paid for the paint and they mixed the color on my way to the store. It’s conveniently located in Nob Hill which is a plus. The biggest caveat is that they don’t have a standard price list for the different quality of BM paint. When I asked the price of the Aurora paint, she wasn’t able to give it to me over the phone, but insisted on charging my card before placing the order. I would encourage them to have prices ready when customers call in for quotes.

Great place to go for color consultations. Lynne was extremely helpful even in the brief time that we spoke, I learned a lot about color from her. Will definitely return to see her for future projects. Thanks, Lynne!

One of the associates was walking by, and I politely asked for assistance with an «excuse me.» He kept walking and said over his shoulder, «I’m with a customer.» I’m a customer too and he could have just offered to send someone else back instead of blatantly ignoring me. Left after 30 minutes without getting any paint.

Would be 5 stars if it weren’t for their lacking hours of operation (who can get to a store by 5pm on a weekday??). Customer service goes a long way in curbing the inconvenience tho — I managed to sneak out of work a little early and having called Fregosi to place my order ahead of time, they had it ready to go for me when I arrived. Easy breezy.
High quality Benjamin Moore products are the foundation of this shop, and a willingness to walk you through all options and accessories for your project — the icing on the cake. They will be my go-​to neighborhood shop.

I agree with everyone else, the service here is fantastic! I always find it fun to come in and pick out colors and get great advice! My place has never looked this good. Great paint with a mom and pop kind of feel, this is my paint place until they close!

I have never had such a positive experience at a paint store before. Ed and Lee were so patient and helpful in helping me select the colors I wanted and offered their expert opinions. I never felt rushed or pressured into buying the most expensive paints. They laid out all the options and helped me make the best choice. I was only buying a couple gallons but they treated me like I was buying 50 gallons. I cannot recommend this place higher!

I haven’t written any reviews in a while so when I walked out of Fregosi a happy little customer I thought «I’m gonna Unilocal this place!»
Ok it’s a paint store but:
–it’s super clean and well laid out
–they have everything green and Benjamin Moore
–the guys working here are as nice and helpful as you could ever hope
It’s a five star establishment bitches!

Very easy, good customer service. If you’re looking for Benjamin Moore paints in the Polk St area, go to them. They’re super helpful and have lots of paint chips and samples.
The gentleman who helped me was attentive, knowledgable and pointed me in the right direction regarding tools. And by tools I mean stuff to paint with. Cuz I’m not a painter. So I needed help.

In the process of repainting our place, we needed some metallic gold paint for detailing on the ceiling. We had purchased some already from Blick that frankly was terrible; thin and more «muddy bronze» than gold.
Then yesterday after visiting Bob’s Donuts, we happened to be wandering around the street and noticed a storefront that had just changed and was now a Benjamin Moore Paint store. We entered the large, nicely-​lit space and noticed the excellent selection of paints — especially metallic golds, of which they had at least 8 or so shades! The clerk was very helpful and friendly and gave us good advice about coverage and application. Also, the paint was $ 2 cheaper than it was at Discount Builders Supply.
The clerk said that they had only opened three days earlier, but already they’re well-​stocked with everything you’d need to repaint a space. We expect to be doing business with Fregosi & Co.‘s new location on Polk from now on. It’s a welcome addition to the ‘hood!
