Genevieve Shiffrar Photography

There are so many things I could say about Genevieve, and they are all excellent. From day 1 she listened, worked hard, and I could tell we were going to get excellent photos from our wedding.
Not only was she our photographer, but she was part logistical planner as well. She worked with us to get a timeline together, and I was more than pleasantly surprised at the amount of thought and time she put into our day. It wasn’t all just thought of photography!
It was a joy working with Genevieve. I would definitely recommend her.

Going into wedding planning, getting an awesome photographer and hiring a band were my top two priorities. Genevieve is one of the best wedding photographers out there. She photographed my wedding in the Adirondacks (yes, I paid for her to travel there because she’s that good!) and did a stunning job.
Genevieve’s technical understanding of photography is second to none. The lighting was perfect on all our photos, and her skill also showed itself in our dance-​floor shots. They’re not dark and blurry like I’ve seen from other weddings. They’re crystal clear and really capture the joy that was present. I could actually frame a dance floor shot from my wedding!
Take her technical prowess and combine that with her unmatched ability to prepare for and execute on the day of. Genevieve is generous with her time for you; she does extensive site research for all her weddings. She knew where on site to take us for each of the photography sessions. She had thought through what time of day it would be (for lighting) and where guests would be (for hiding the bride!). She also spent lots of time with me before the wedding reviewing the schedule and giving feedback on the timing of events. On the day of, Genevieve serves as a calming force. When I started to get anxious that we were behind schedules, she said «we have plenty of time» in the most reassuring, calming voice. She knows how to make the wedding party comfortable and keep the bride feeling relaxed so that she can look her most beautiful in the photos!
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the pictures are BEAUTIFUL! Genevieve was sure to capture everything on my requests list. Everyone says what gorgeous photos they are, and each time I look through them I am able to re-​live the day again because she did such a good job capturing the essence of the events.

Genevieve is a very talented photographer. I first saw her work in National Geographic and knew that she had to be our wedding photographer. Our wedding photos were stunning. She is professional and really knows how to capture the moments. She recently came to our house to do portraits for us and watching her work was like watching Monet painting with a palette of light. My husband and I highly recommend her.

This review is long overdue. Genevieve was the photographer at our wedding over a year ago. I heard about her through a friend and made an appointment to talk to her about what we envisioned for our wedding. We both had seen her photographs and were impressed with her work. She was so easy to talk to and we both had a great vibe from her. On the wedding day she did a great job capturing the essence of our wedding and afterward we received the materials promptly. She was GREAT! I have to say that I heard so many stories from friends and relatives complaining about their wedding photographers getting their materials back to them so late or not at all on the contrary I had no problems at all. Genevieve was so professional, prompt and diligent throughout the process from start to end.

We hired Genevieve to photograph our wedding as well as take engagement photos. Her photos are absolutely beautiful and she is such a delight to work with. I’m so glad we found her — she is a gem! Her prices are very reasonable and we our thrilled with our pictures. Highly recommended!

I’m not familiar with her portraiture, but I’ve seen Genevieve’s landscape and architectural images of UC Berkeley, and they are stunning.

Genevieve is amazing to work with. She took pictures of me dancing in Golden Gate Park and on the N Judah. She made me feel really comfortable so that I could do my best work while she did hers. The photos came out beautifully. She is professional, diligent, and talented. I highly recommend Genevieve for your photographing needs.

Genevieve took photo portraits of two friends of mine, and they’re really great. The photos capture some of the personality of each one of these people… some humor and some warmth.
