The employees are very rude and need to learn a little something more about sales and customer service. This consort has gone down hill so much. That is why it’s better to shop with or at nutrishop both have excellent customer service and will help you with your fitness plans with modesty and humbleness. If you work at GNC you are not allowed to be rude like you run the world. Build up your customers and that will have sales rise through the roof.

This location is around the corner from Safeway next to Jamba Juice. I usually come here to buy my quest protein bars as if you buy 3 you get the 4th one free. The staff is very nice here and helpful. Look for the specials today I got buy one get the second one free for the GNC lean shake 4 pak I like the vanilla bean and strawberry and cream flavor. If you are a gold card member you get additional savings !

I bought some recovery powder there and it was disgusting. They let me return the open package and get a refund with no receipt and without being a member.

It’s been such a struggle to stay in shape for my boyfriend. As I’m sure most women agree, looks aren’t everything but they certainly add the spice to a relationship. After my new career got really busy, I started eating lots of unhealthy food, and gained about 15 pounds. My boyfriend never complained but I started to feel lazy, and sleepy all the time. And I felt it wasn’t fair to him. This particular GNC has really always been so helpful, even though it’s not as convenient to get to it. But they walked me through all my dietary needs, and the best mix of vitamins/minerals in my diet which my recent physical showed deficiencies in. The people here even recommended some great songs to add to my playlist for my workout to keep me really inspired on days I didn’t want to get my lazy a** out of bed! Here’s to another 15 pounds…

This is a fairly convenient location with friendly staff and decent customer service. All of the employees will offer their help to you, and while they aren’t necessarily the most charismatic people, most of them have personally tried a lot of the stuff and can give good advice and insight into the different products. Basically, however, I come here to get protein, vitamins, and pre-work powder. Thats about it. However, the best thing about coming here is that you can park in the lot easily and it’s NEVER busy, so you can get in and get out quickly. Also having a gold card is a must for taking advantages of the discounts, which can at times be substantial.

Go in, get your stuff, and get out. Staff was chatting personal stuff by the door and asked me what I was doing(walking into the store). Yeah I’m here to buy stuff. Or like, rob the place in broad daylight. Because those are equally plausible ways for me to get in shape for the season. Because that’s what GNC is right? Buy protein for your before and after? Heat for the heist? Anyway you get it, so the staff isn’t the friendliest or the most helpful, but since I didn’t need help or friendship I got along just fine grabbing my stuff and then interrupting their conversation to ask one of them to ring me up. The GNC by Powell is pretty good, but I guess I’ll have to come here since it’s closer.

I like their sales! good time to stock up! Dan helped me get the supps I needed, and then gave me other options. He gave me ideas on how to increase calories, supplementing the shakes. I felt like I got all the help I needed, and more suggestions that really helped me get the most out of the supps I purchased. Whenever I had issues with past purchases, Dan was able to redirect, and take care of my situation, to more appropriate products. I am a satisfied customer. These guys know their stuff! A HUGEMUSCLETHANX!

What I really liked was the staff were very helpful. I noticed they were already helping one woman. Then also let me know about all the sales they had going on. If you can make it to this location by July 28th then you will find most of the protein half off. I saved a whole $ 50!!!

Last time I went here the employee was really friendly and helpful, with a good sense of humor. But this time Alan was my cashier and he sucked. He was rude and unfriendly. I know working at GNC sucks, I used to work at 2 locations, and I know the customer before me was a homeless guy trying to steal things. But don’t take it out on me. At first Alan seemed deceased, like not even awake, dude with all these supplements around maybe you should take one to boost you up? Plus you’re right next to a Starbucks. I asked him if they had Gu Gels and he had no idea what I was talking about and didn’t even answer, then in about one second I found it my fucking self. There was nobody else in the store and I got a Gu Gel for $ 1.51 and he seemed pissed that I paid for it in change. There is nobody else here, like you have anything else to do? I don’t think he knows how to count, he’s Asian, you think he would live up to the stereotype of at least being average at math. He wouldn’t accept my Susan B Anthony $ 1 coin at first until I convinced him it was real. He asked if I had anything different. Then he tried to charge me for 2 Gu Gels when the sign said 2 for 1. When I pointed to it he acted upset and it took him forever to walk 2 feet to check the price. I asked him if they had the beverage Fast Twitch and he kind of mumbled not sure what he said, and I had to find it myself. There was only one fridge in the store, couldn’t you have told me where the fridge was? Then I spotted some powdered supplement in the sale bin after my first purchase and made another purchase and he seemed really pissed at me for making two purchases. Like I said, nobody else was in the store and they had 2 employees,(at least) working. He said, «Is there anything else you want to buy?», and he just gave me a look and a long pause like he was really upset at me. Then he didn’t use any gender pronouns and it’s pretty damn obvious I am a transsexual woman with the breasts and the makeup and all you know? Are we in San Francisco or what? Jesus Christ. I wish the other employee was working(a tall white guy, not sure of his name) because he is funny and awake. One star for Alan, 5 stars for the white dude, so I’ll average it out to a very generous 3 stars.

Some supplements you can only get at GNC, if you’re not interested in shopping online. Most GNC stores, imho, lack a certain«helpfulness» about them, as well as strong familiarity with supplements, and some don’t have products in the«unflavored» or «natural» versions for those of us looking to avoid sucralose and other chemical crap. This store has those options. These guys also know what they’re talking about, and can talk about the supplements because they’ve used them, or they’ve dealt with enough customers who have used them that they know what’s good, what gets returned, and what else you should take(like multi’s) if you’re adding certain things to your diet. As the other posters have mentioned, the key with GNC is to get the Gold Card(just a club, it’s not a credit card). Then you can combine the first week 20% discount with their other offers and beat most of the cheap pricing you see on Amazon. I personally like to read full labels in person before buying things I eat! The guys at this store have been super helpful, «hooking me up» with deals and specials on many occasion, and are generally really, really nice to deal with. And although it’s in the Castro, I have been SORELIEVED to have never gotten the«eew, you’re a pretty straight girl — get out of our town!» vibe from any of the guys working there. Can’t say that about a lot of other places in the Castro!

I can’t speak for the products, but this GNC location has excellent customer service compared to the Polk Street location.

GNC is fairly mediocre as far as health supplement chains go. The trick at GNC is to get their Gold Card, then everything is 20% off the first week of every month. Then: You can combine that 20% with whatever other sales they have going on(they fairly regularly have a number of items at 20−30% off) — so you can buy some things at a combined savings of 40−50%. If you pay GNC’s full price, it is a little overpriced. If you scope it out and buy your items at this 40−50% off, it’s one of the best deals to be had on these products.

I don’t go here anymore because in an unrelated part of my life, I got insanely sick and was dying which precluded working out, exercise and physically getting to the store at all. Hope it’s still great, but I gotta lower the stars & eventually maybe take this down. Sad. The best GNC in the Bay Area, hands down. The folks here are excellent, warm and helpful. Always letting you know how you can save the most money — and they are never pushy shills like most other stores. The selection is excellent, and I went to almost every GNC in Oakland, Berkeley and SF before I found this one. You can call and ask if they have what you need, they will hold it until you get there. Best customer service you can get.
