have eaten next door at ton kiang for years and was unable to get a table today. decided to try this place and was amazed. one of best dim sum houses in san Francisco, portions large and hot and very tasty… and inordinately inexpensive… definitely the place to go to… recommend weekdays when not crowded as best

Came in for lunch with family and experienced one of the worst dim sum service ever. We originally ordered 15 dishes. We sat waiting first for 30 mins after ordering while the big table who came in AFTER us got some of the dishes we ordered. When the food finally came, the waiter said they ran out of 5 of the 15 dishes we ordered when the table next to us clearly got the same stuff we ordered. To top it off instead of a sorry, they tried to sell us «left over» dim sum. I do not know if they are catering to certain table over others whether its because of table size, ethnicity, as previously I have had better experiences here with different company. Message me privately if you want what I really think. In summary, I wont be coming back here ever again

We came here for New Year’s Day dim sum. We picked this place over others because we were able to make a last minute reservation for 10 at 111:30am. All other dim sum restaurants nearby as you can imagine are fully booked and had lines outside the door. So there is much to be said if you can get a last minute open table on a much demanded holiday — the food here is mediocre at best. The shrimp dumplings had their wrapper partially falling off and the blanched tripe was half filled with bean sprouts. Don’t get me wrong — everything was edible and fine — but nothing to rave or call home about. The service here was surprisingly good. We got teas and waters filled. And additional napkins, forks for the kids, hot sauce, and many of our other requests all done in a timely manner. if I can save myself hours of waiting in the cold, satisfy my dim sum craving, meet up with family, and leave with a full tummy — this is not a bad place to go!!!

The service was awful. The food was okay, a lot more traditional. They give you want they want to sell you, not what you ordered. The tea they served you was good. But if you ask for water they give you attitude, put a pitcher & cups on the table and that’s it. Ordered a dish at the beginning and never received it. Asked what was in the ingredients of the dishes and the server didn’t know. Ordered steamed rice and got fried rice with minimal chicken. Ordered a wrap and had absolutely no idea what was in it, it ended up being an unwanted surprise. Went to check out and was told the card was invalid, but it turned out the server was swiping the card the wrong way.

Service is terrible. Food doesn’t come out when we ordered one dish almost one hour ago. When we asked where it was they say it is coming and we wait another 10 minutes and it does not come. We ask about it again two more times and all they say is that it is coming once again– only to find that it never came. We waited 45 minutes for nothing. Terrible attitude food is not that good. Don’t come here.

Hit or miss type of restaurant. Came here before 9 on a Saturday night and it was pretty much empty. Some of the items were straight up salty, or cooked perfectly. Some plates came out dirty so semi gross me out. Not my type of restaurant if you don’t know if the food is going to come out good or bad since its not constant.

We just happened to be in the richmond district and were right by this place so we tried it. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because 1 they have dim sum until 12 am(pretty cool) and 2 it was fairly decent. The best thing we got was the lamb siu mai that was delicious, you could definitely taste the lamb unlike some places that claim they have lamb siu mai and you end up not tasting the lamb. We got the clams in black bean sauce on the super dim sum section and they were pretty good and tasty, however for being a super dim sum the dish itself was pretty small. The turnip cakes we got weren’t bad and it was a good portion size. We also got sticky rice and it was a little pricey but definitely tasty, if you like sticky rice It’s definitely rich. Overall it wasn’t bad, definitely a great place to come after doing massive amount of drinking and get some greasy dim sum, they stop serving dim sum at 12 am however they’re open until 2 am for everything else.

Was really craving dim sum today and this place hit the spot! I mean, I wasn’t the most AMAZING dim sum I’ve ever had but the food here was pretty decent and very reasonably priced(ranged from ~$ 3 to $ 6 per dish). I do have to say that their fried items(we got calamari, fried shrimp balls and shrimp wrapped in fried bean curd) were pretty oily which made the dishes a bit soggy. Some of their other dim sum items were a bit under whelming and could have been more flavorful. We also ordered crab and egg white fried rice which was good and light, and by light I mean it was not greasy or heavy. The thing that really wowed me was the manager of the restaurant. He was very kind and attentive which is rare since Chinese servers are usually aloof, sharp and/or moderately rude(no offense to my own people haha). We never had to ask for more tea or water and he was pretty nice to chat with which made our dining experience a lot nicer.

It’s another night shift, and I already had dinner. But suddenly I remember one of my favorite nearby restaurants deliver, even late night! Golden River has become my family’s go-to sit-down Cantonese restaurants for delicious, fresh, and affordable places to dine, least twice a month. Their seafood’s fresh, carry a wide selection of vegetables perfect for folic acid addicts, and their cube steaks are delicious for carnivores alike! Their crispy fried milk is a rare find. None available in the Richmond area. The best thing is, they deliver, accommodates online ordering, and opens late. Family owned and very friendly! Highly recommended!

Ate lunch here instead of next door dim sum. I thought Dim Sum was okay. Parking was always tough here with the $ 2 /hour meters. Dim Sum is not that fast, so allow minimum 1.5 — 2.0 hours to eat without watching the time. Service is spotty since some wait persons only understand Chinese. Pick your items from Dim Sum menu and submit for delivery of items to your table. Some items took longer than others so assume it was cooked fresh. I miss the days when they rolled the carts and you just point to the items you wanted.

I like there food and delivery is quick. For this reason I am giving them a 3. HOWEVER, they delivered the wrong dim sum to me this weekend and it made me sick to my stomach. I called and spoke with several individuals there and no one could tell me what type of dim sum it was that was sent in my order instead of what I wanted the steamed sesame ball dim sum. I will not order their dim sum again. They need to UPDATETHEIRWEBSITE my order was over $ 25.00 and it would not allow me the utilize ANY coupons for purchases over $ 25.00 displaying that the order must be over 30.95. This needs to be fixed and is misleading. I will order their rice dishes, on occasion by phone.

Ordered delivery on grubhub and it arrived early, yay! The crab wontons had barely anything inside… The veggie egg rolls tasted purely of black pepper. The steamed bbq pork buns were pretty good and the egg yolk buns were delicious. It was my first time eating anything from here but I’m guessing everything on the menu will be hit or miss. Glad for the delivery and that most of the food was ok.

My family and I always come to this place! Benson is the best waiter! If you’re a first-timer to Dim Sum be sure to order the following, you won’t regret it!(It helps if you know it in Chinese too. =)) Lo Mai Gai(Leaf wrapped sticky rice with meat and chinese sausage) Ha Gow(Shrimp Dumpling) Siu Mai(Pork or Chicken Dumpling) Dan Tat(Egg custard pastry in pie crust) side note: Order first before they run out Chicken Wings(spicy salted)

I have to take away stars in this updated review because of a delivery experience I had. It was Chinese New Year’s Eve and I wanted to celebrate with my bf with some good Chinese food. We ordered and waited 2.5 hours for food. During that time we contacted grubhub(who was the mediator) and they said our food was on the way. Then half an hour later we still didn’t have it. We called again and the operator said the restaurant had already delivered the food. They said that they had called, but earlier I had received a missed call that rang once, I called back immediately, twice, each time only to be hung up on. I immediately went outside my house but no one was there. I explained this to the operator and she said she would get in touch with her supervisor. We had our money refunded, but by then it was almost 10. We asked our neighbors if they had received it, they said yes, but they had eaten it. So it was CNY and we had nothing to eat for dinner. This problem could have been prevented if the driver had gotten in contact with me through phone call. Instead they decided to half ass their job and simply give the food to whomever wanted it. And to think I tipped when ordering – ugh.

Reminds me of the dirty street venders in hong Kong. Seafood was OK. bland, packed with msg… it took almost an hour to serve us soup… save your money and go elsewhere…

I came in for dim sum on Sunday morning. It wasn’t great, but it was definitely cheap. They were charging socal prices in norcal. Dim sum is probably prepurchased and heated for diners on demand. Ask for the 20% off if you show up early.

We rushed them after outside lands and they were clearly taken aback. I’m not sure if what we got was representative of their cooking though since it looks like the late night menu is different(and a lot less fancy). Anyways, the food was rather unmemorable. We had the chow mein special, pork and eggplant, lamb in XO sauce, and fried chicken wings. Of those, the wings would be worth eating again.

Went there around midnight on a Monday with a large group. They treated us very well and the food was delicious… and they gave us plenty of it. Excellent service too.

I order delivery from here all the time. Though some dishes aren’t always on point, Golden River provides the best variety and fairly priced options when it comes to Chinese delivery in my neighborhood. Some of my favs are… Crab/Lobster special meal — It’s now a lobster special meal which I don’t enjoy as much, but you can’t really beat a whole crab/lobster with an egg roll, soup, noodles and dessert all delivered to you for a little over $ 20. Now if only they’d bring back the crab special meal! Oh how I miss it!!! Beef chow fun — Depending on the day, this can be super tasty or super bland! Or of course somewhere in between. But I love beef chow fun dry style so I always order it and take my chances. Garlic pea sprouts — I do love a good pea sprout dish and the times I’ve ordered them from here they’ve been excellent. Still retaining a slight crunchiness sauteed in garlicky goodness. Yum! Dim sum — I can be super lazy on the weekends so having a place that has an extensive dim sum and porridge menu that delivers?! Yes please! So I’m constantly trying to find new places to check out. Even when it comes to delivery. But any time I’m craving chinese food, I always come back to golden river.

Four of us recently came here for dinner. The restaurant was modern, clean and had a nice décor. The waiter brought us tea that was in a fancy clay teapot. One of the nicest teapots that I been served tea from a restaurant.( ) Instead of selecting a pre-set family dinner from the menu, we decided to select five dishes off the menu. Clams with Black Bean Sauce: Clams were cooked perfectly and were tasty. However, we felt the portion was on the small side.( ) Stir-fried sliced lamb: A good portioned dish that was very tasty. Best dish that we had.( ) Ong-Choy with bean curd: A good sized dish that was well prepared.( ) Flounder cooked two-ways: The stir-fried fish filets were cooked perfectly. The deep fried portion was fried too crisp.( ) Steamed Oysters on a half shell with black bean sauce: Very disappointed with this dish. The oysters were the size of clams in a huge shell. What the? They were not large, medium, or small. More like baby oysters. The sauce on it didn’t taste that good either. () Overall, prices are reasonable but the dishes are either a hit or a miss. Need more consistency.
