$ 19 ayce. This is a chain but this location seems a little run down. The food was decent and the service was average. However, the quality of the meats and seafood is definitely lower compared to other the hot pot and shabu places in the bay area. Its close by though.

I like this place, yes the service isn’t «cater to your every need» but come on, it’s a hot pot. You go to hot pot for 2 reasons: 1) food 2) the experience. You don’t want someone that’s going to constantly nag u if u need something. I love the spicy broth… I can drink a pot of that and be ok ._. Love the all you can eat. The meats even if they come out frozen but the result is pretty similar as fresh so… no complaints there… Love the udon noodles, fish balls and house made dumplings. The one thing I don’t like… the hubby orders too many veggies ._. Lol Love hot pot!!!

My friends and I came here for a beer while we were waiting to eat at PPQ. The lady working behind the bar didn’t speak much English, but when we ordered wine managed to tell us that it was bad wine, and to order beer instead. Grassland Hot Pot had a lot of domestic beers(i.e. Bud Lite, Miller Lite, etc) and one import(Heineken). The great thing about the drinks were the prices! They were pretty cheap! And I did appreciate the lady telling us that the wine was bad! However, I would recommend they order some decent wine for next time :)

This place has lost its mojo. It used to be very good a few years back. I used to live a few blocks away and this place was my go-to place in cold winter days. The last few times I came it was very under. The waitresses had a hard time understanding our requests. They messed up our orders many times. They brought out food that we didn’t order and didn’t even mention the stuff that were out until I asked them. Now I have to drive all the way to San Mateo every time I want hot pot. Bye Bye Grassland

After reading all the negative reviews, i was iffy about going to this restaurant. However, i still decided to give it a shot, and I was so glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing, and the price was very reasonable. Most important of all, our waitress was such a sweetheart. She was very warm and attentive. She told me that she has been working there for a month, and I thanked her for the excellent service she provided. I’m def taking my friends back there next time.

Grasslands is my bf and my favorite hot pot place in the city. sure it’s kinda far, the ingredients aren’t that fresh, and service is hit or miss. but this place will always have a special place in our hearts. mostly because the sauces are amazing, and the workers pretty much know us by now(so we always get pretty quick service). Long live Grasslands!

Instead of doing an essay, I rather be writing Unilocal reviews right now… Haha. I came here my friends in a group of 7 on a Saturday evening. It wasn’t that crowded but we were seated at this table next to these Chinese construction men who were drinking beers and giving toasts every 10 minutes. They were getting louder and drunker each time as we were eating our food. All in all, the service was okay. We ordered almost everything from lamb to seafood and green onion pancakes. I liked that they kept an eye out if we needed to our waters to be refilled. I haven’t been to many hot pot places but I would say for basically 20 bucks a person, this place is pretty average and there’s probably better in the city.

Just came into eat with 7 people and immediately had rude service. Came in around 9:45 pm and asked if they’re still opened and the waitress cut me off and said NO. Then hesitated and looked at the older lady with short hair and said we can have a seat at a big table. Strike one. One pot of soup was too uncomfortable for 7 people so we asked if it was okay to use two burners and the older lady yelled rudely at us «are you kids crazy? 7 people can use one pot it’s enough for 7 people why would you want two». I have never felt so insulted in my whole life. Why are you arguing with us if we just want another burner… Strike two. She never came back to give us more food for our all you can eat. Probably only had two plates of meat for our whole table. By the way the meat is pre cut and FROZEN, then it is served. Old frozen meat is NOT meant to be served. Ever. Soup is bland and disgusting. Vegetables are not fresh. Wontons taste old and stale. Strike 3. So around 10:30 when our meal is winding down, the owner turns off the lights and tells us «thank you have a good night» and starts SMOKINGANDDRINKINGALCOHOLWITHHISFRIENDS! What kind of business is this. Seriously. I’m still eating and you’re smoking cigarettes inside while there’s still customers here. Strike 4. Wish I didn’t have to pay gratuity because they did not deserve my money. Never come here. Worst place I’ve ever been.

One of the most extensive all-you-can-eat hot pot menus I have seen in the city. We did half spicy and half original broth. Many different cuts of lamb, two beef options and chicken and pork. Quality of cut was OK. I liked how you could order dumplings and other dim sum like items as part of the all-you-can-eat. Service was quite slow since there was one waitress serving the whole restaurant. Although they were not very busy, it seemed she was overwhelmed. Will definitely be returning for the variety!

Hey for $ 21.99 all you can eat??? I’ll give you stars for that! Their menu has shrunk a bit now since they first opened but I think it is probably due to the fact that it’s $ 21.99??? DUH! Anyways, can’t complain about anything because why??? It’s $ 21.99! DUH!

This place really surprised me! I originally had plans to go to Hot Pot Garden but it was jammed packed so I decided to try this place out which was referred to me by my parents. It was $ 21.99 all you can eat which was the cheapest I’ve had so far. They had a wide variety of meats and the broth was delicious. They also serve their plates in huge portions and each individual piece was rolled up and you can grab easily without breaking. Most hot pot places tend to stack the meats flat on top of each other and it’ll break off when you try to grab it cause they’re stuck to each other. On top of that, the customer service was EXCELLENT. Everything we ordered came out fast and they always come around to make sure you’re ok instead of flagging someone down which I hate. The best part, this place is pretty big and there’s barely any wait time. This will probably be my new spot to go to now. One con though, parking may be a pain on busy days.

This place is SoSo. Good was good just. yeahh and Décor was okay. This place has the electric stove built into the table which is actually nicer than having the gas stove. I was here with a group of 6 and we were just doing the AYCE for dinner and it really wasn’t that bad. Service wasnt bad but wasnt good either. also all the workers were eating in the back table having dinner. We were the only customers in there at that time and sorry to say i wont be a regular here.

No good! I came here with a group of 9 for a friends birthday when they had the $ 18.99 promotion for AYCE. They advertised buy one get one free beer but when we asked, they said the promotion was over. They really need to update their promotional ads with expiration dates or at least take it off their website! They also advertised free AYCE on your birthday; however, it wasn’t the actual day of her birthday. So no complaint there. Their service and the food wasn’t that great, but it wasn’t that bad either. Fast forward two months and another friend wants to do her birthday dinner there since they have that free on your birthday promotion. She called ahead of time to see if they still have the $ 18.99AYCE as advertised on their website still, and they said it’s now $ 21.99. Ok, that’s fine as long as it’s free for the birthday girl, which they said she would be. Once we got there(same group of friends) they said they no longer honor the birthday promotion. WTH right?! Why say yes then? And by this time, our soup already came out so it would be pretty rude of us to leave. If we found out just a few minutes earlier we would’ve chosen to go to Hotpot Garden instead which is only a few dollars more, and wayy more worth it. Not only did they not honor any of their promotions and basically lied to us, the quality and freshness of the vegetables was horrible! We ordered tong ho, and when they brought it out, it was so wilted and almost brownish that it looked like somethign else so we figured they gave us the wrong item(which they have done in the past). We told one of the waiters we didn’t order this and that we ordered tong ho, he said ok I’ll bring you the right one. When we inquired about it 15min later, the same waiter said I did give it to you and you sent it back(in an accusing tone of voice). After this, it just pretty much brought our mood down. We all left pretty unsatisfied of both their service and food. They were lucky we didn’t leave in the first place. They almost lucked out of roughly $ 300 that night. I don’t even know why we gave them a second chance. Super regret it! So long story short, this place sucks! Don’t come here! It’s not even that cheap. Unless they ever have like a $ 13.99AYCE dinner promotion, then maybe it’s worth a try, but I will never come back! On the plus side, did have a wide assortment of choices ranging from different cuts of pork and lamb to kidney and even green onion pancake. It’s really too bad that their service sucks. Maybe when they go out of business that they realize customer satisfaction is everything.

Don’t come here! Okay I called on a Sunday night asked about their promotion and the guy who picked up the phone said $ 21.99 all you can eat&drink! But when we got there the lady who served us said NO $ 21.99 is not all you can drink. WTH?! if I’m paying $ 21.99 I prefer«THEPOT» it taste way better and alot foods to pick!

Wow, if there’s a restaurant that gives the Chinese a bad reputation for service, then this one’s it. They only serve all-you-can-eat hot pot, so there’s really not much cooking involved in any of the dishes. I checked in using Unilocal and tried to use the check-in offer for $ 18.99 hot pot per person and free oysters. They said that they had no more oysters and couldn’t honor that part, but then when the bill came, they had the nerve to charge full price for the hot pot! We had to argue with the manager before they would honor the Unilocal check-in offer. The management needs to learn to honor their deals, otherwise don’t sign up for the advertisement in the first place. It was also hilarious that whatever we ordered on the menu that was provided to us was never actually fulfilled. They would bring us some of what we ordered, but never everything. At times they had run out of certain vegetables and instead of telling us they were out, they would just bring out other random vegetables — as if we wouldn’t notice! Maybe that’s how they get away with keeping the prices so low… they get to decide what gets served, hahaha. So the tripe and pork blood never came, and neither did they apologize or say a word about the food we ordered. We were a big table too — 9 people total, and yet they treated us as if we didn’t know any better. Not to mention the service was quite slow too. It took us almost half an hour to receive our first round of food after the soup was served… and they have a two hour limit on all you can eat! The time limit wasn’t really enforced, but we didn’t really have the appetite to keep eating after the food we ordered never showed up. I had my hopes up when I walked in to Grassland too, because the entire place smelled like numbing chili(ma la) hot pot soup. They also have a pork broth, original broth, and an assortment of sauces(including sa cha suace, my favorite). All I ask is that you keep all your ingredients in stock and actually serve them when they are ordered! For a better hot pot experience, I’d recommend the«real» Little Fat Sheep in Union City, San Mateo, or Cupertino. It’s slightly pricier, but at least you get what you order.

I was thrilled to find this spot open for lunch again with their value-add $ 9.99 hot pot special. I added a photo of the ingredients, beef or lamp, fish balls, 2 octopus, 2 shrimps, cabbage, tofu, noodles, mushrooms.(Don’t let them forget to bring the house sesame sauce and pot of oolong tea.) But the great charm about this place is it’s old school charm. From the oversized hot pot tables and the TV blaring Chinese soap operas and news to the fish aquarium and the overall worn feeling of the place… it feels like an old albiet comfortable and inviting coach. Enjoy it.

This has been the only hot pot place I have been avoiding for years. I remember walking by here and seeing this place be empty with tons of fruit flies around. YUCK and walking away. My mama found them advertising on her local reads and told me to take her here for dinner. They advertised all you can eat for $ 18.99 and unlimited OYSTERS. The all you can eat oysters is what hooked her, but whatever my mama wants, she GETS! My family and I decided to come here for dinner on a Sunday, called in to make reservations, but def didn’t need to do that. The place was nearly empty, but HEY,. got to give this place a chance. I am very impressed. The spicy broth just tasted like the lil lamb packets I buy; to do it myself at home from the supermarket. The parents had the pork bone broth, which tasted like soup they would use when we do hot pot at home. They had tons of variety’s in the all you can eat from lamb, beef and fish. All you can is usually good for my family since we all have different taste in food and prefer different things. My reason why I rate this place 4 stars is because of the different dipping sauces they have. Usually I am not a big fan of dipping sauces, since the broth should already enhance the flavor,. but the satay sauce they had was delicious. Also to note, buy one beer and get one free. COMEON,. My dad and I were def taking advantage of the beer special. Very family accommodating, tables are spacious, fast service and tons of workers to give you attention and most importantly,. I didn’t feel rushed at all to leave. My family and I sat, ate, talked for at least 3 hours. At first, the reviews below scared me, but now I am looking at the dates,. the bad reviews were written from about 1−2−3 years ago. Even me being a germaphobe, sucked it up and gave this bad star Unilocal rating restaurant a chance and loved it. A few days has passed,. I DIDN’T get a tummy ache,. SCORE!!! Will recommend and will be back.

My normal shabu place is closed temporarily so we decided to come here since we were starving! I’ve never been but my friends have so they helped with the ordering process. You get one of two menus — one is the all you can eat(they don’t have the AYCE + AYCD) and the other is for a la carte ordering. We did AYCE. We tried the spicy soup base and we asked for the pot to have a divider — it shows up no divider… i’m slightly annoyed but we are starving so we start cooking. The frozen meat comes out first and we dive in. but wait… uh…oh…boo.no dipping sauces. We ask a couple times for sauce and they finally brought it to us. I find that during our whole meal we had to keep asking for things like water, status of some of hot items(pot stickers, green onion pancake etc.) like A LOT. Not like once but some things we had to ask for like 3 times. I know they were pretty busy but its seems sorta ridic to me to keep asking. Overall, I didnt really like their choice of sauces, meat quality wasn’t that good, and service was pretty poor — i dont think i’ll be coming back. The ONE thing i really liked about this place is that instead of shoving all the items you ordered on your table they bring out this shelf thing to put next to your table to hold all the food. Maybe some people would call that ghetto maybe some would call it genius!

After eating at Grassland, I’ve decided that I’m much more of a shabu person than a hot pot person. There’s just too much variety! $ 24.99 for AYCE and $ 29.99 for AYCE + drink. Price-wise it’s definitely not bad. We opted for the spicy broth and went to town on ordering. The spicy broth was not bad but I’ve definitely had better If you like intestines, livers, and all kinds of other parts then this place is definitely for you. The house made shrimp balls were such a disappointment. I advise against them. The texture and taste was just all wrong! I did like the variety of dumplings though. There was also this tasty fried cake with beef, much better than their version of the onion pancake. Would I come back??? Probably not… I’d rather opt for shabu.
