Huge inventory is tucked away behind the counters of this specialty hardware shop. The staff was incredibly helpful and did not patronize me as I wandered in practically clueless. They took the time to help me pry out a bolt stuck in a barrel nut, re-thread the nut, and find me replacements. They typically serve the professional segment — to my left and right were building /hardware professionals fetching all sorts of odd-looking screws /bolts /pieces.

After several months of frustration, I finally got my license plate from the DMV for my motorcycle but found myself short of hardware — and, having lost a bolt that holds on a turn signal in July, decided I really needed to make a stop. The nice man at Harrison & Bonini totally set me up with the right size fasteners and I was able to get everything sorted. He even gave me a special price for the three bolts and nuts! Woo hoo! Super friendly and nice — I’ll definitely make sure to visit them again in the future.

Great place for specialty hardware. In my 15+ years of building cars they have never failed to provide me the correct hardware for whatever the project be. Go in the morning to avoid the crazy downtown traffic

Response to Alex, I did call ahead and sorry if I was slightly rude but I was just upset that you closed early as you confirmed(3:55). The sign says 4pm. I went back again a few days ago and again it took about 40 minutes and there were only two people in front of me. Your response was back in August and you say that is something you are changing? One of the persons in front of me was just shaking their head in disbelief how long things were taking. Someone from the office even brought down some sort of paperwork for the counter guy to sign causing a further delay. However… The counter person is great, the selection is unbeatable, I stand corrected about the hours, .I thought it opened at 9. The hour off of lunchtime is still very lame and has caused many of people frustration. The additional star added to my admittedly unfair original one star.

Was assigned to pick up some A307 bolts from here — found parking right in front. got help within a few minutes, and got 80 bolts for a discounted price(between what they sell per bolt for 50 and 100). guy was really helpful, and although their CC system is a bit old, he took the time and finished the transaction(even though there were other customers). what really topped the cake was that i needed the receipt to expense it, but accidently got it lost on the construction site. When i called them up asking to see if i can get a copy, the guy not only looked through all his paperwork(even though it was yesterday, the receipt was still sorted in different ways) and offered to either email or fax it to me. This definitely saved me not only a trip there, but $ 50 worth of a potentially lost receipt. This place is specialized in fasteners, and little else. I will def head back if i need something unique(even found shackles that other locations didn’t have). Defnot a hardware-hardware store, so if you’re not looking for something that can make a hole or go in a hole, call first!

This is a response to «Jeff R.» I am an employee here at Harrison & Bonini, and I recall the time he came«before 4.» We close at 3:55pm majority of the time and the day Jeff came wasn’t any different. He arrived exactly at 4pm(our normal closing time) and was pecking on our glass doors with his keys and banging the same door with the bottom of his fists. Now, I DON’T have to help you when you come late, and when you bang continuously on the front door insisting we open for you(as the way Jeff did), im more incline to leave you outside. We’re not a chain business so we do have more leeway to do what we want but that doesn’t mean that if you come a bit late we won’t help you, in fact we do that more often than not. In Jeff’s case, he was rude. PLAIN&SIMPLE. I opened the door and said«If you keep banging like that, your really won’t be helped» and he insisted we must close earlier than posted and continued to argue with me about how and when we close. At 3:55 pm, we close our doors and help whoever is left in our building. We then proceed to do our end of day paper work which takes no longer than 15 minutes… if that. He continued to make remarks about how we must close at 3:40pm and other nonsense. If he would of approached me with some sincerity or some common courtesy this situation would of ended up different. So I told him I can’t help him and closed the door, he then kicked the front door and rode away on his bike. To suggest that we work only 6.5 hours is absurd. Our doors open at 7:30am until 12:00pm(4.5 hours) then from 12:30pm — 4:00pm(3.5 hours) If my math is correct, that is 8HOURS! We are a small business with a small staff. Jeff was right about one thing though, we only have 1 – 2 people working the counter, and since we’re limited on employees, it’s hard to help everyone at the same time. It’s something that we’ve been trying to improve on. If your in a hurry, please call ahead and ask that your order be placed on «Will-Call.» If it’s a sensitive item, ask for a «Physical Item Check» to ensure you get what you called for. We’re always trying to help our customers find what they need, your cooperation makes it much easier for us and you. If you want help after working hours I suggest you call ahead before we close and say you might be a little late. We’ll most likely wait for you and you’ll be helped. Respect goes a long way anywhere you go, Harrison & Bonini is no different. Thanks alot for reading this lengthy post, I just had to straighten some things out. — Alex

Aaah-maay-zing! Went to 4 different hardware stores looking for a heavy gauge cotter pin(for a manual hi-jack lift that broke while carrying a 900lb load lifted 5ft in the air), you can imagine the urgency in finding the piece of hardware. After no luck and lots of blank stares at every location. I popped in to H&B on the recommendation of a contractor who overheard my request at one of the inferior hardware stores, and not only did they know what a cotter pin was, they had 10 of them, in stock!!! TRUE fastener PROFESSIONALS. Hard to come by these days. They have every fastener imaginable! And if the don’t have it, they’ll get it!

Don’t be too scared; no hard hat or tool belt is required here. They are generally very busy helping pros, however — so just be patient while you’re waiting your turn to ask a question, because all the other customers’ time is valuable too. The last thing a contractor with 3 employees at a jobsite sitting on their ass running up money while waiting on him to pick up a part needs is some yuppie who left a Prius double-parked outside trying to cut to the front of the line because he only needs one little screw for his capuccino frother. I walked in here in a polo shirt and hoodie carrying a guitar part — no fronting as a tradesman, or even as somebody who knew where the entrance was(heh) — but I at least knew the thread pitch & diameter of the little specialized thumbscrew that I needed. The counter guy at H&B did his best to find a rough match in stock and was unsuccessful … but then remembered seeing some old stash of something upstairs that wasn’t even in normal inventory anymore. He ducked upstairs, was back in a flash with an even better matching part than I’d hoped to find, and he gave me a sweet deal on 6 of them to boot. With service and attention like that even for a little pissant part like what I wanted, this is my first stop for hard-to-find parts from now on.

Excellent service and an array of tools and gadgets to drool over. Yes, you should wear a hard hat when you enter and know what you want and what it is called, but they are friendly and service-oriented. They did not have the bolt I wanted but tried hard to find it.

Screws, fasteners and small tools for tradesfolk are their game. You better bring your game too, and know what you want, there is zero handholding at this place. It’s closer to SoMa and FiDi than Center Hardware. I gots me some gel blue loctite and breathable ez on/off half latex coated gloves(and no it was not for the Folsom Street festival right around the corner) TIP, bring a business card to smack down on the counter whilst they enter you in the(tandy) computer, lest them not think you’re a non-trades plebeian

What brings you here? Unless you’re in construction, you probably have never heard of this place. Apparently, they only sell fasteners and screws, etc. They also sell tools and random hardware items. I’m not sure what since you’re only allowed at the front counter and somebody will run around and fetch your items once you tell them what you need. They didn’t even have the expansion bolt I needed and sent me online. Bah. I hate shopping online for screws that cost less than a dollar with shipping at $ 4, it’s hardly worth it. However, they seem to have everything normal so give them a holler. Oh, one more thing, they close for lunch. Not sure if there’s like 2 people there or what but they do close from 12 – 12:30 for lunch or something like that.
