Wonderful place. Calm and quiet most nights and there is always seating. The bartenders at exceptionally friendly and attentive.

Let me say right off that I love dive bars, cuz you never know what’s going to happen, but you know SOMETHING dope will happen! So, my review will be in favor of Harrington’s Pub. Especially since the ladies bathroom wasn’t disgusting. Can you park your bike inside? Perhaps. Will you get a strong drink? More than likely. Are you able to take a quick nap on a table? YUP!
My friend ordered a Jameson neat. I ordered an Irish Coffee, which was phenom! Our bartender Marade was friendly and mad cool. And get this: my friend and I were talking to Marade about music and how she makes a killer Irish Coffee! Welp… my friend has performed in Ireland and that evening he was gigging with an Irish Dude by the name of Gavin James at Rickshaw Stop. Marade is Irish and actually digs Gavin’s sound! GET THE @#*X*X out of here! Chilling with friendly folks and sipping on Irish Coffee are the simple things I enjoy. This is why I love dive bars!

One of the best dive bars in sf. The bar is under new owners and they are really improving the bar. The bartenders are cute and really know how to pour a drink. The jukebox is up to date. The locals are colorful and add character to this transforming dive bar

It’s a dive bar, so don’t expect much.
But the bartender was friendly! Cheap (er) drinks than other bars in the area. I love the fact that a vodka soda came with freshly squeezed lime juice. Helped mask the stiffness of the drink.
Good alternative for drinks before going to the Bill Graham!

It’s a really comfortable Irish Bar, with a great old Irish gentleman (I was going to say «dude», or «guy» neither of which are accurate) pouring. He poured a Guinness 100% correctly, which I greatly appreciate, and is hard to find. Pretty much that’s what you should order.
Plenty of seating and a jukebox.
If you’re at an event at Civic Center or Bill Graham, consider going here for your cheap after-​event drinks.
Four stars not five, because it’s a comfortable bar, but not exciting otherwise.

Awesome place, currently not super busy and an awesome bar tender willining to hangout and talk to anyone that hangouts here. Come by whole it is notnauoer busy. Swing on by we were happy to hang out here.

Harrington’s is under new ownership, I doubt it’ll change much.

DIVE BAR AWESOMENESS. I am a true dive bar aficionado and this place may very well be the center of the dive bar universe. Non functioning pin ball machine for decades ago, check. Fish tank for no reason, check. Large safe for all to see which may or may not be money safe, check. Kitchen exposed to entire bar that appears to not even be in use, check. The fine Irish Lass bar tending was friendly and sassy, poured an excellent and proper glass of Guinness, and chatted us up a bit.
All to sad the place is closing due to, as she out it, damn San Fran yuppies. Hope to visit again soon before it’s gone forever.
And if that Bar Rescue POS ever were to show up, I am certain the Lass would give him a what for.

It’s a wonderful Place and a Must See and Spend a Wonderful Time and it’s not to pricey and Beautiful People work here also.

Irish bar serving BBQ? If this is wrong I don’t want to be right!
Definitely a locals spot, but still a great place to stop if you’re on a pub crawl. Basic beer selection, but more hard stuff can be seen behind the bar. Sports on TV if you feel like not talking to people. :-P

An old place with a lot of old everyday customers I’ve gone a dozen times in two weeks and noticed a lot of regulars…
They cash checks for people all day and night so watch the money action on the left side of the bar.
Sometimes the Food thing is Crackin but it’s hit or miss as in not always open… not bad though … i mean considering it’s on a cracked out block of turk street with the Belly of the beast, housing authority central office down the block… Good for watching foodball games.

at any rate it was luck of the irish although im not as my bears beat the pack and free pizza was served

Two words. Dive Bar. Four stars does not mean that this is a high end bar. It means it’s a great dive bar.
I want to address the comment that the bartender is racist. I don’t know which bartender they are speaking of but I have been here a number of times over the years and never had a problem and one of the regulars is a black man.
That being said, you have to remember that this is dive bar in the middle of the tenderloin. Because of this, in order to keep the drug dealers, prostitutes and crackheads out, there are additional rules that aren’t normally in place in a bar.
So yeah, if you show up, order a drink, otherwise you are suspect. It’s not okay to racially profile someone but it sounds like that’s what might have happened to the other guy. There is a system in place to make sure the place doesn’t become infested with people making drug deals and counting their money in the bathrooms. They do a really great job at keeping the place safe and taking care of their customers.
I like this spot because you can just go out and have a drink minus the drama and hoopla. No one judges you here and no one bothers you and there is a nice jukebox and sometimes live music. For what it is, it’s a great place.

Dirty, shady characters, cheap drinks, friendly bartender, generous pours. I live a block away from here and probably never would’ve come here if it wasn’t for the fact that I broke my foot and I’m limited in my mobility but I’m glad I came (to watch the Giants game). Good people watching.

A pathetic place to spend your evening. The bartender asked me to leave the bar because I was waiting at the bar for a friend and didn’t order a drink.
Rude staff, people seem depressed and it’s all lit up like I am in a supermarket. Don’t go there.

Quintessential dive bar. Perfect for those wanting to go to a bar and just have a few (or a lot) drinks and chat up the bartender. I had one of the best White Russians of my life here. The clientele is what you’d expect from a Irish bar, down to the bartender with a heavy Irish brogue and old men sitting at tables looking like they live there. The second time I went, there was for some reason a woman sitting in front of the fish tank (yeah, a little weird for a dive bar) and talking incoherently at the fish and a very surly looking fellow next to me drinking a PBR. I’d like to mention it was about 10AM so… awesome.
Anyways, great bar, hope that the issues mentioned by Jennie B are not something that still exist.

The bartender at this place is completely racist. They wouldn’t serve my friend because he’s black. He was carded and the bartender said he wouldn’t serve him because he wasn’t 30. When my friend said he was 30, the guy said well you have to be over 30. My friend left mad.
A little while later, my 25 year old fiancé goes in, wasn’t carded, and he had no problem ordering a drink. He confronted the bartender about it, and the guy all the sudden became apologetic. He told my boyfriend to bring his friend back and he would give him a free drink. The only reason the bartender was apologetic was because he was embarrassed that he was called out for being racist by my fiancé, not because he upset my friend. Fun fact — my friend and fiancé are both law students.

Harrington’s in the tenderloin is truly a dive bar. construction is going on on the outside. from the reviews, construction has been ongoing for awhile. there’s an eatery in here serving fish & chip, burgers with freis., et al in the $ 5– $ 6 range. heard the burgers are quite good.
harrington’s is nominally an irish pub. just a few pics. otherwise just a bar. on bar tables, just tables for dining in.
saw ½ gallon size, not 750 ml, bottles of gin, whiskey, et al on the liquor dislay. must be seriously drinkers here.
a few drafts, (4) bud, guinness, stella, .served in tulip shaped wine glasses.
would return for the food, 3 stars, the bar is an afterthought.

Smells like cigarette smoke and omelettes. My superior deduction skills tell me it stinks like cigarettes most likely because they let people smoke inside. As for smelling like omelettes… shit, I dunno.
