Me encantó Harvey’s exquisita comida, buena atención y precios razonables. Ojo para ir al baño debes pedir un token a uno de los garzones.

Our first time to Harvy’s while visiting friends in SF was great! We sat at the bar and had some of the BEST Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had! I am VERY picky when it comes to my Mary’s and these were delicious! Our bartender, David, was friendly and warm. We then moved to a table for lunch and were treated like royalty the moment we sat down :) Our server was Damon and he answered all of our questions about the menu and what we should do with our time while in town! He was great and we felt like we had a personal concierge! I would definitely recommend Harvy’s for its friendly staff and great drinks! The food was good not mind blowing, but defintly worth the trip :)

Of course l’ve experienced much better ! This cheapish place represents the mature old gay men population who love to talk and watch 90s music videos. I gave 2 star review because they have an amazing french fries ! Will/Would l go there to eat fries? Hell, yes ! Would l eat other things than fries? No, NEVER 4⁄10

We came here today for brunch and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Damon was delightful and sassy! The warm spinach salad was delicious. My friends had the ham and cheese omelette and a ranch rap. Overall, the food and service were amazing.

I looove the«new» Harvey’s! The staff is friendly, and the few new menu items I’ve had so far are pretty good: Bangers and Mash(sausage is pleasantly spicy and of very high quality with no grizzly pieces!), fish tacos, and the pork tenderloin dinner(I should’ve eaten just half of what was on my plate and boxed the rest ’cause I was STUFFED afterwards lol). All in all, friendly people, patrons with lots of smiles on their faces, and a serious reverence for the man who was Harvey Milk!

As a frequenter of the Castro, I can’t believe it took me so long to discover Harvey’s! Talk about a magical place! First of all, it’s always busy which is a good sign. Second, the staff is all utterly gorgeous! My friends and I couldn’t decide which waiter(or Bartender!) was hottest! We were approached with a warm smile from our darling doll of a waitress, Katie. Her demeanor was both approachable and professional, and she took great care of my friends and I during our meal. You could tell she obviously has been serving for a long time by the grace and ease with which she performs. As I mentioned before, whenever I walk by the place it’s absoultey packed. I commend a small staff for being able to juggle all the craziness of a full restaurant so fluidly! Wow! But what I truly love about Harvey’s(aside from the hot waitstaff and one adorable bartender who’s always playing Disney movies) is that this is one of the only places in the Castro where you feel a true sense of community. It’s a warm, lovely environment where regulars can feel like part of a «family.» I know for a fact — Harvey would be proud. :)

If I could give this restaurant a zero or negative star, I would. One of the waiters had the worst attitude and made the experience at Harvey’s terrible. Coming from the consumer side, I didn’t feel appreciated and there’s no hospitality at all. Making excuses like«I have two tables before you — be right back,» and«you didn’t order that to begin with, let me put it in,» followed by the eyes rolling, really made us feel like we were not a priority. Every consumer should be a priority. I know it’s not The Ritz Carlton, but if you want Harvey’s to represent San Francisco for people coming from all over the world, the customer service should be ten times better than any other restaurants. 1÷20÷2016 The previous review was written whilst at the restaurant. Once we let management know of the incident, Steve, the manager was very accommodating and apologetic. He explained why the service from that specific server was bad, and he would fix the problem. He offered to comp the meal, however, we declined the offer because it wasn’t about getting a free meal at Harvey’s. In the end, he did anyway. Steve is a GREAT manager, if you have any issues at Harvey’s, just ask for him, He would fix the problems the servers may give you. Thank you Steve for stepping up, for accommodating us and mending the Harvey’s experience.

This was perhaps the worst service and meal of my entire life. It was the first time I’ve not left a tip. Service was bad. One order completely forgotten. One order totally wrong. One cold and we had to ask the waiter 3 times for its return to the table. One drink forgotten. The waiter even stopped coming to the table because everything was such a mess. They were not even remotely busy and how can a restaurant, who’s been open since 1994, not know how to make and deliver food correctly? A turkey club! And not an apology. To that end, I have no idea how this place has stayed in business.

Great atmosphere, location and friendly service(if but slow). The beer was watered down; the calamari was rubbery; BUT the Bloody Maries are epic. All in all, a great pit-stop.

Pros: nice bartender. Cool photos on the walls. Cons: food is meh. Got the caprese panini. $ 16 out the door and I didn’t even get a drink. Fries are awful(reminded me of middle school cafeterias bc they serve the exact same ones). Should have upgraded to the soup, I guess. I won’t be back. Too much good food in this city to overpay for food that reminds me of school lunch.

Had a few minutes to spare b/w running errands & going to an appt. Perfect time to pop into Harvey’s to try out there happy hour specials. Must say my Harvey’s sticks(deep fried spicy Mac ‘n Cheese) really hit the spot. Nice with a Stella to wash it down. And — for the holidays they are offering Sunday dinner specials on their dinner menu — all 12 $ &9 $ for burgers/sandwiches/salads. Added bonus, you can just call it in for pick-up. Yeh for Sunday dinner at Harvey’s & thanks to management!

Here’s the thing, rating this place is extremely hard because I had a good and bad experience. We came here for my friends birthday, it seemed like a fun upbeat place to have some appetizers and drinks before heading to the club. Our server Damon was awesome! Very friendly and efficient! He is the reason for the 3 stars if anything! He even brought out a piece of cake on him for my friends bday!!! He is the real MVP of the place! The drinks were poorly made and food was decent. Not good enough for the price tho! Then we were laughing and having a good time and taking shots, then flo I guess his name was the manager told us we are at a 25 and needs is at a 15 and if we were good friends we would look out for each other? Like what?!? We weren’t even drunk just 7 people having a good time! That then made us all mad, I asked him if someone complained because the whole place Was loud he said«no I’m the manager and said so» well needless to say we were planning on staying there longer but we weren’t about to give that place one more penny! If we are loud you say it more respectful l. Point blank. So therefore never going there again! I don’t give money to people who clearly don’t want it. But once again Damon, you are awesome!

It was my first(and last) time eating at Harvey’s. I tried their«heart attack» Eggs Benedict(I think that was what it was called) when I tried to tell the waiter(Milton) the meat was very dry he told me no one has ever complained about the meat so it must just be me. I guess it never a good idea to tell a waiter at a gay restaurant that his meat is dried out. I’m not in the food industry but i think the proper response in that kind of situation is, I’m sorry you’re not enjoying what you ordered, can I get you something else. I think I was more amused than pissed off since he actually had the balls to say that. Oh, by the way, this is my only Unilocal I’ve ever posted that was not 5 Stars. I usually only post the restaurants I really enjoy but for some reason I was inspired to post this.

I loved the staff patiently helping the very old lady at the end of the bar put on her huge backpack and get herself balanced on her walker to continue on with her day after her daily Harvey’s. LOL. Such a sweet Castro moment. After viewing the gay and lesbian museum next door, I was in the mood for something alcoholic and nostalgic so Harvey’s(which used to be the Elephant Walk) fit the bill.
Harvey’s has a 80’s neighborhood bar vibe, in a good way, sort of a Castro version of Cheers. I sat at the bar and ordered from the bloody mary menu, which offers about 10 different Mary’s. The bartender warned me I was ordering the LEAST spicy Mary(which I found kind of amusing since usually they are warning you that something might be TOO spicy) but I proceeded anyway and found it to be plenty spicy. It had a huge garnish of two big olives and a cocktail onion so it was practically a salad :) $ 10. I didn’t feel like wading through the extensive menu, so trusting my fellow Unilocalers I also ordered the fried calamari and it was fine. You get to choose 2 from a list of several dipping sauces and I think I chose a little too basic, buffalo and blue cheese. They were good but a little ordinary for calamari. Also $ 10. Bartender wasn’t real talkative at first but became more friendly after I asked him a few questions about the neighborhood. His service was impeccable. I’d absolutely go back.

A Castro stalwart, Harvey’s a dependable bet to grab some grub before or after a massive drinking binge in the neighborhood. Nothing fancy but it does the trick. It’s definitely got a neighborhood feel and folks have their favorites over the years. My friend’s go-to was the crispy fried chicken ranch wrap and I concur — it’s a simple but thoroughly satisfying meal. The crispy fried chicken works well with the lettuce and tomatoes but throw in some ranch, cheese, and bacon to up the guilty pleasure factor. Had a couple of other items on the menu like the fish & chips and a burger which were decent but not necessarily remarkable. It’s pretty standard diner comfort food here but they are quite generous with the portions and it’s served to you with a friendly smile. Oh and decent selection of Bloody Marys to boot. If you find yourself stumbling for food at the busy intersection of Castro and 18th, pop by Harvey’s and they’ll hook you right up with some homey favorites. Otherwise weekday happy hour specials or comedy nights might make it a destination spot too.

There are a few things to love about Harvey’s. It’s conveniently located and a pretty big place for a Castro bar/restaurant. I hadn’t tried this place yet, so I came here with a friend. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately next to what seems like a small stage.(Omg what kind of performances do they have here?! I’m coming back for them.) I started my meal with a Bloody Mary Christmas, which was not bad. Apparently I’m not a fan of garlic infused vodka, so I would probably not get it next time. I can’t believe they have an entire menu for Bloody Marys! That’s awesome. We ordered the Calamari which was not very impressive. The waiter got excited about surprising us with two dipping sauces, but I think they came from random bottles. It was nice of him, though. For my entrée, I got the Flat Iron Steak because I was craving 8oz of MEAT. They did an excellent job of cooking it medium rare. It definitely needed steak sauce, so I’m glad that was provided. It also comes with sides of sautéed vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a jumbo onion ring. That’s pretty generous for $ 17 so I would totally get it again. Overall Harvey’s is a solid place for decent food and a good time. It’s one of those places I’d have on my list of go-to/regulars because it’s close in proximity and very reliable.

I really want Harvey’s to be better. The location is perfect, and I have great memories from its days as the Elephant Walk. But, after my 2011 four-star Unilocal, the food went way bad, and the tables were sticky/dirty all the time. Our friends assured us that the place had gotten much better, and the food has improved greatly, Tasty, even! And, the wood-top tables are clean and nice. But, the service is completely spotty. We had perfect service at a crowded brunch. Yea! But, before I could Unilocal my delight, we returned for drinks and light food last Friday at cocktail hour. Geesh! Vague, inattentive wait staff came to our table only sporadically. After we ordered a round of drinks we didn’t get asked if we wanted more until after the food had been ordered, delivered, eaten, and cleared. Then the waiter could not count to four. The second round came with three drinks. When we pointed out that we were one short, the waiter was neither apologetic or concerned. The late-arriving drink was also not quite what I’d ordered(I asked for a martini, hold the vermouth. The vermouth was in the glass.) The drinks were slow in coming, too, Finally, check the picture I posted showing the way they served a friend’s martini. Look for the single, mutant mutilated olive that they delivered in his drink. Basically, the cocktail hour staff seemed to care less about the customers. Oh well! We can always go for brunch, I guess.

Really love this place when it’s during the weekday. Not too crowded and you get great service with quality food. I’m addicted to their calamari and chipotle sauce. AMAZING! Staff is always nice and are there for anything you need. If your a people watcher this place is for you! Table seating next to big windows on a corner lot.

Je me suis régalé à chaque fois. Surtout avec la soupe. Succulente!
