It was lunch time when I came in. After taking a look at the menu and seeing the available items, I ordered a plate of steamed rice with broccoli, beef and sweet & sour chicken. This is certainly one plate of delicious lunch. Three items for $ 5? It’s a bargain! Overall, good food and good service. The lady behind the counter was very friendly. Hong Kong BBQ is definitely one of the restaurants to patronize when seeking for a plate of steamed rice with two side items for $ 5.

I really like this place since I was little. They use to have mini take out box that is $ 1 dollar chow mien, fried rice, and/or other hot food for students to buy. I believe they raise the price to $ 1.25-$ 3.00 for the mini take out food. Moreover, they do catering for all size of party. The cost of the platter was with it. I bought a medium size platter and it only cost around 20 something dollars. This place is a decent restaurant with great prices. I will recommend people to come try their food.

This place was not good. I had the 2 item. I had fried rice and sweet & sour pork. It was all very greasy and nasty! The sweet and sour pork tasted like perfume and the rice was mushy, tasteless, & greasy. Not to mention while I was in there the lady was carrying around a fried duck with it leaking juices. I will never eat here again!!! Do not waste your money. I would give it ZERO stars if I could.

Two items with chow mien or fried rice is just $ 5! Also the best deal in San Francisco for ice cream! This place is a must for everyone as SF is super pricy & most other places charge at least $ 3 for non– McDonalds ice cream!

Good food, cheap prices. Can’t be beat, especially for the price. Staff is friendly.

I absolutely love the food here! The chow fun is my favourite, and two scoops of ice cream for 1 dollar? Yes please.

DISGUSTING! was parked outside this dump, and saw the owner/cook(wearing an apron) come outside, smoke a cigarette, pick his nose(it appeared as if he was trying to scratch an itch on his brain), flick his cigarette into the street(another disgusting habit) then walk back inside. He started preparing food. Nope — no hand washing needed. F-ing disgusting.

All the food here is pretty good. I always order the food off the steam table. I always order the chow mein, Korean style chicken wings and curry chicken. Even the roast duck and the roast pig is pretty good.

Came here a lot when I worked down the block. Never brought lunch to work so had to always go look for something. So ended up coming here when the grocery store was getting old and tired of spending a good $ 8+ for lunch. I went and got some basic buns and stuff, coming out to be less than $ 5. The food and place was kind of nasty, but not many choices out there.

Used to come here all the time back in middle school. This place was bomb and gave out great portions for the buck. I used to get fries, which were made fresh and delicious. Small combination boxes, with 1 entrée and 1 topping. Went back recently and its pretty much all gone downhill from then. Food ain’t great anymore, portions ain’t cool anymore, its just not the businesssssssss… sigh…

They have cheap chinese food at $ 1.25 and ice cream starting at $ 0.50 a scoop and they also offer chinese BBQ here now too. I have to admit this place is pretty ghetto like the neighborhood itself. But you can’t beat the prices anywhere on San Bruno though.

They had a unique taste for their sweet and sour pork, it seems like the only thing that I keep coming back here for. Other than that, their über cheap ice cream that’s 50 cents a scoop. Yum

This used to be my favorite place when i was back in middle school. I would come here with my friends all the time after school because the food was so cheap and they give you a lot. This was back in the time where $ 1 dollar Chinese food would be put in a what they use as a medium box today instead of the tiny little box. The portion was great and i would just get here everyday. Like I said, It used to be the place, Everything changed now. The boxes are smaller and I’ve had better food.

I would always come to this place after class in middle school. It was THE place to get your grub on for a couple of dollars. The workers there were pretty nice and I’d always get their fries and chow mein. Then came high school, and I decided to revisit this place for old times sake. They definitely changed, although their prices may have not, their portions have. They used to use a regular sized box for the $ 1 chow mein, but now they pack it in such a small box it’s ridiculous. I guess you shouldn’t complain if it’s for a dollar but they should rethink their prices if not the sizes. I’d probably take the time to visit this place if nothing had changed, but now it’s not really worth the travel time.

I have come to this restaurant only two times but I like. Although some people gave low scores, I think this place is pretty good. Despite the name, the food is good. Reminds me of Panda Express. I think there’s probably MSG in it but I’m fine with that. It just tastes really good. You can get a really small box of food for one dollar and a slightly larger box for $ 1.50 and so on and so on. I’d recommend that you come here if you’re looking for a snack for cheap because if you are planning to eat a meal here, you should go elsewhere if you’re new to this store. I haven’t tried the Ice Cream yet but the ice cream is pretty cheap too. Only 50 cents. My friend had to explain to me how much each box was worth because if she didn’t, I would’ve been disappointed.

So this place gets 2STARS for there ICECREAM! This is the only reason why I go here! How can you beat the price of only 50 Cents a scoop! Might I add, it’s Berkeley Farms Ice Cream as well. not that cheapy store brand kind! I like to go here to satisfy my fix for Butter Pecan & Oreo Ice Cream. There’s a pretty nice selection as well. maybe 10 flavors to choose from. On to the cons: My only advice is. «YOUGETWHATYOUPAYFOR». $ 1.00 gets you a mini box… I ate here out of curiousity and spent about less than $ 20 on Mongolian Beef with Rice(less than $ 5). totally NOTWORTHIT!!! and The Chow Mein was too oily… blehh. i’ not complaining. that $ 1 is for the MSG serving. service was nice. the owner seems pretty cool. DONOTGOTOTHEBATHROOM!!! I was in dying need of voiding. so I had to use it! NEVERAGAIN!

This is one of the worst places to eat in the neighborhood. I’ve given it 3 chances, and I’ve been disappointed everytime. The portions are small, and the food is bland, speaking generously. The price isn’t too bad, but you’d just expect more. There aren’t any good«hk» style cafes in the area. If you’re craving for some baked dishes or chinese curry, just go somewhere further and save yourself from dissapointment.

I used to come to this place a lot after middle school! $ 1 food deal, either choose noodle or rice and a side of any small entrée, but they do not give a lot though. They have sweet and sour sauce in a squirt bottle and I love sweet and sour sauce in my nooodles or rice.
