I would highly recommend Ian as a guitar instructor to anyone and everyone of all skill levels. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and listens to what you want to get from him and delivers. Ian has a unique way of pushing you forward while still making it fun to dig into the material and really learn what he is teaching. I have had several instructors in the past, but none have been able to communicate and present the material in a way that was approachable and achievable. Everyone from an absolute beginner to a seasoned player looking for a fresh perspective, Ian is your man.

Ian is great. Actually — exactly what John G. says. My daughter and I both take lessons from him(separately). He tailors the lesson to each student and the student’s interest. I called him wanting to learn how to play a song — no problem! But I’m also learning chords, musical terms, and how to read notes, chords, strum patterns, etc. He’s very patient, friendly, motivating and personable. I highly recommend Ian as a teacher and taking guitar lessons.

Mr. Conway is what you need in an instructor: I was a self taught musician for years and years until I reached out to an instructor to fill in the gaps. Ian delivered! He’s a very smart cat, he presented scales and chords in a very easy to understand manner. But lessons aren’t drills or academic at all; I’ve brought in songs I wanted to learn and we’ve worked on that. He has always been patient and encouraging when I’ve been slow, and he’s always made it interesting. What I appreciate most about studying with Ian is that he’s always tailored the lesson to what I wanted to work on that particular week. Blues? Rock? Funk? Soloing? Theory? Practice routines? Learn a particular song? We’ve covered all of that. I’ve been really happy and I’d encourage everyone to improve their skills with Ian, no matter what their skill.
