Came in to get my cartilage pierced in two spots and that’s exactly what I got. The woman who pierced me was very kind and patient. She set me up very quickly and let me pick out my set. I choose the cute crystal daisies. Then she cleaned up my ears, marked the spots where I wanted my new piercings, and got straight down to business. Then she gave me my bottle of cleaner, was very detailed with her instructions on how to care for the piercings afterwards, and I was on my way! It didn’t take very long and each piercing cost $ 29.95 so it came out to around $ 70 with tax afterward. I didn’t really get to look much around the store, but I saw that they had some good clearance racks of accessories, buy one get one free earrings, and half-off scarves. I enjoyed my experience here, as the customer service was friendly and helpful, and my earrings look great!

Whoa. Did this just happen? Did I just walk into a store and the employee not only was in his cell phone but also wearing a beanie telling people to calm the fuck down?!? Albeit it was in French, but still. Imagine this– you walk in with intent to buy and the man behind the counter is wearing a big bomber jacket and a beanie with his earbuds in, clearly on the phone. Why are you wearing a coat? It’s a sunny day in the city? Where is your name tag? The only reason you know he was an employee is because he said«Hey, just to let you know, all jewelry is $ 5». Awesome. So you find an item. A piece of jewelry. You go to check out. «Your total is $ 21.75» Wait what? Did we not establish ALLJEWELRYIS $ 5? Oh apparently that item isn’t on sale even though it doesn’t state that isn’t included. But he honors it, his mistake. Good guy. But then you notice his hat. Does his hat seriously tell me to calm the fuck down??? Is he seriously still talking to someone in the phone during this whole thing??? Not ok guy. Not ok. Icing is a store for teens. Is that the image you want to send out to 15 year olds?

Most of the time I just walk by quickly in the malls to avoid pricey items. But I’m laying off the buying on Amazon to support physical businesses, not just local(but I will do both!) for the holidays. Lately, I’ve been having some obsessions with scarves and gloves as well as knit hats/beanies. They were having a a scarf sale 2 for $ 25 when regular price a scarf is between $ 22 to $ 25 here. It’s almost like getting one free! And I came out with 2 scarves of varying degree. One thick, large biege knitted scarf. and one floral with the vintage mint/pink color infinity scarf. I’m a sucker for impulse items at the register. Before ringing up, take a looksie, there could be $ 10 items for 99 cents there :) If you don’t see it, you could ask! They’ll let you know where the cheap stuff are at ;)

I wouldnt normally give a review to a store like this(mail chain store) but the employees were soooo nice! They knew where to look when we had specific requests and also greeted customers and were above and beyond friendly. Cute products too:)

So I called in advance to make sure they had the exact product that I wanted. The lady(Megan) said they had it in stock and had a ton. I arrived about thirty minutes later, and they DIDNOT have the item I had called for. VERYDISAPPOINTED!

When it comes making profit any business doesn’t care that much about its quality of service or employee’s kindness toward customers. Of course, this icing by claire’s isn’t exception. After my facial injury by manager woman Atika this company still keep her due to frequent shopping lift in shop although head quarter people knows that Atika’s personality is NOT for retail personality. My facial injury has caused by Atika’s rudeness. Before the injury I’ve asked Atika about the size 6 boots but the manager woman Atika gave me the size 7 and didn’t even bother to look for size 6. Despite of the my mobility impairment Atika didn’t even offer the service like picking the item that I dropped. When I put the items that I was going purchase I wasn’t really situated myself to be ready to pay for them since I dropped one item and was struggled with the item to pick it up. Hence I bend my back from the wheelchair at that momentum the store manager woman Atika so abruptly pulled out the sliding extension desk without any hesitation or notifying me. In order to get up from the bending I had to lean on the sliding desk but it really fired back on me. The sliding desk is so fragile, weak and too crumbling to become any kind of extension. As a result, my face had a hard hit on the main desk after the fragile sliding desk has disappeared. And it was bleeding. So I asked her that why she did pull out the desk so abruptly but she couldn’t answer anything but being defensive and being very mean. These women at Stownstown shop told me that they heard a lot about Down Town shop manager woman«Atika» that how mean she is. As a retail store manager there is more priority than watching over the shop lift. It’s very shameful mistake that the icing by claire’s company still hiring Atika as a retail store manager.

A more grown up version of Claire’s — less plastic, more metal/hardware and the jewelry and accessory options(ie. scarves, bags, wallets… etc) actually look trendy vs. cutesy. I’ll most likely find a pair of hoop or dangly earrings here in a pinch, but my addiction are their selection of tights and leggings. Perfect fitting(I wear a sz 12 pant and I get the tights in M/L and leggings in L) — no riding up or down, perfect length, and very durable. Currently they’re on special if you buy 2 or more. Tights — 2 for $ 15 and leggings — 2 for $ 25-$ 29.

I like Icing. It’s like a grown up version of Claire’s. They sell basically the things that Claire’s sells, minus the glittery, colorful vibes. Most of the earrings they sell here are regular metal hoops in various shapes or dense metal cutout earrings. They also sell totebags, sunglasses, and makeup cases in «sophisticated» colors(ie. black, silver, grey and white). They also sell cheap quality makeup and hair accessories like phone covers, scarves, headbands, and hair extensions. The nice part about it here is that it’s not as crowded and that you’re not gonna have a crowd gathered around you as you get your ears pierces(not that I have had my ears pierced here). A little more expensive than Claire’s, but there’s always a clearance section in the back.

I now formally like Icing. Claires is just a little too pink frou frou for me. The music alone usually make me want to end myself. The service here was really good from one of the girls staffing the counter. Almost overwhelming actually… that or she was hitting on me. I’m never quite sure with things like that. My «I will come back» moment came when I found that they carry numerous small hats with veils. I know that once Claires and co start to carry the industrial/punk/alt/goth style, the trend is over… but I just love me some small hats.

So I stopped into Icing a little while ago, after learning that they carried those big trendy peacock feather earrings that I’ve been seeing everywhere. As I was paying, I heard something drop. I scanned the carpet quickly. Nothing. So I left, with purchase in hand. Once back in the office, I realized that I was missing my driver’s license I called Icing to see if I’d possibly dropped it at their store. A woman answered right away. Her — «Hi there — Icing here, — we have a big sale on hoops and surgical steel earrings. How can I help you.» Me — «Uh yeah, I think I dropped my driver’s license in your store a couple of minutes ago.» Her — «We’re busy, bye.» Click. And so I called right back. The same woman answered. Her — «Hi there — Icing — we have a big sale on hoops and surgical steel earrings. How can I help you.» Me — «Yeah I was wondering if you could check if anyone turned my driver’s license in really quickly.» Her«No. We’re really busy. Bye.» Lame. Super Lame. First of all — I have yet to see Icing busy. Ever. Second of all — how hard is it to quickly look in your lost and found section? Exactly.

When my girlfriends and I got busted for dressing inappropriately in sixth grade, my dad said I wasn’t allowed to go to Claire’s Jewelry again — ever. I was forced to immediately retire my various jars of glitters and my dangly earrings. BANNED! So when I got robbed last week on the 22 bus, I spent some serious hours looking for a new, cheap and fabulous wallet(forever 21, ross, marshalls, etc etc etc) without even considering Icing by Claire’s… every time I walked by and smelled the cheap fake leather wafting out of Icing, I was reminded that«Claire’s is NOT a place for a girl of your age!» Finally, I overcame my paternally induced guilt and poked my head in. Sure enough, a wall full of colorful faux-leather wallets loomed in front of me. And I found a pretty fabulous one for only $ 9.99. I also bought a little bit of glitter to sport during my next family dinner.

I was walking around the mall, wasting time, when I saw this store. I wandered in and saw a clearance section that was 10 items for $ 5. I couldn’t pass it up. I got earrings, hair clips, headbands, a wallet, a picture holder, tights, a belt, a ring, etc etc. I also got a cute tote bag for $ 5. I’ll def be checking this place out again in a month or so.

Stores like this are really good for America. Because I’ve often said that there are not enough places to procure cheap plastic crap in the world. Also, I think it’s really important to promote a culture of vapidity and mindless consumerism, especially for the pre-teen girl set who don’t get enough of that reinforcement to begin with. Every girl needs a Playboy brand plastic shell for her Razr phone, because the highest honor to which she could ever aspire is Miss December.(It will of course be tastefully done, with no visible pubic hair. Because it’s important to project the image that being thirteen is the most attractive, glamorous time of life.) Also, don’t forget to pick her up a little tiara, because even though it cost about $ 0.10 to make in Taiwan, it really says to her, «You are more special than the millions of other middle class tween mallrats in your market segment demographic,» and it will ensure she grows up feeling extraspeciallysuper entitled and her«healthy self-esteem» will be bolstered by putting yucky people like waiters and cab drivers in their rightful place!
