My hazelnut mocha was divine. Just enough chocolate flavor and hazelnut flavor without being too sweet. I tried their Club Sandwich with cole slaw, which were so-so. This is a good place to go for a casual bite or cuppa joe on a sunny day, as they have outdoor seating.

This place is nice to come on a sunny day. It’s close to our house so it’s very convenient for us when I craving for a sandwich or coffee. I have tried their tsunami… which is really good and fulfilling. Their almond croissant is really good when they warm it up. It’s close to the beach so you can walk there afterward.

I always have some serious nostalgia when I’m here– it was the place I studied for my SATs in high school, and now years later, I came back to grab a quick coffee and to visit. Lots of huge pros. It’s right by the beach with a great vibe and an awesome staff. The interior is clean with great wood furniture and a boardwalk-esque feel. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating, but away from all of the power strips. Service was fast and friendly, and they have a pretty large selection of pastries, sandwiches, and an extensive bagel menu that I’m looking forward to trying out next time I’m back. One small con– it took freaking forever to connect to the Internet. It was a problem shared by a bunch of other patrons as well.

The location is nice, the people are friendly, and it’s not usually too crowded when I stop by for coffee or a sandwich. Their drinks are wonderful and I haven’t yet ordered anything I didn’t like. The only thing is it’s a bit on the pricier side in my opinion. It’s a great place to stop by if you’re ever around the beach or the zoo. The regulars here are also super friendly and it’s a super chill spot to grab a bite and a drink. They’re open late-ish for a coffee shop, so sometimes when I don’t have proper plans for dinner I’ll drop by Java Beach. My favorites include the tsunami, any of their lattes, and toast.

Great sandwiches, good beer selection too. Nice team working friendly and efficient. Beer is a bit expensive, 16 bucks for a sandwich and beer is a bit much. I’ll be back anyway, good place

Delighted with my hot chocolate and cinnamon toast– not just any cinnamon toast but a Pullman Bread cinnamon toast– a thick slice of fresh toasted bread topped with brown sugar, butter and cinnamon — so simple but so delicious– the hot cocoa is so perfect on a brisk day. My kids loved the grilled cheese sandwich — 4 thick slices of bread topped with Ooey gooey cheese– so delicious– you know it’s good when you talk about the food days after! A visit to ocean beach requires a stop at Java Beach café! Sit and smell the ocean breeze.

This café is just a few blocks from the beach(hence the name), which is a nice touch if you’re the kind of person who simply enjoys being near the ocean. I cannot speak for the coffee, as I did not have any, but I did order Stacy’s Mexican Salad which I enjoyed. The salad has dorito chips in it, which was a pleasant twist for a salad. The only reason I give it four stars is that there wasn’t really enough indoor seating(which I understand isn’t their fault). I had to sit at the tables outside(which wasn’t too bad because it wasn’t too chilly) until an indoor spot opened up. Would absolutely return to Java Beach!

Food — 4 Service — 4 Ambiance — 4 I live so close to Java Beach but didn’t discover the glory of this place until recently, and now I’m kicking myself for missing out for years! The first time I came here it was a little after lunchtime, but my friend and I were still craving breakfast foods. Unfortunately, I guess this place was so popular that they ran out of almost everything including bagels, pastries, and oatmeal. Luckily, that lead us to discover the amazing arugula salad and fruit and granola bowl. Their blueberry pie was also delicious and the perfect sweet end to our brunch. When we came back the next time early enough for breakfast, we tried the oatmeal(which was a little thick for my taste), a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin(a little too thick and chewy), a bagel sandwich(awesome), and the ham and cheese croissant(also delicious). The beach is only few minute walk away, and on a beautiful sunny day(which I know is rare in this area), it’s amazing to be able to have a hearty breakfast, walk along the beach, and then come back and grab a snack back at Java Beach. I would say their standouts are their sandwiches and salads, and I will definitely be coming back repeatedly to try everything on their menu!

I love for a good latte. During October and November, I have a lot of very early mornings I my job. I can’t really stomach coffee first thing in the morning, but Ivan do a latte. I love latte’s. Java Beach makes a fantastic latte. If you go to Starbucks and order a grande latte, put soy milk in it, and want an extra shot, and a flavored syrup it’s going to cost you like $ 6.50. A large latte at Java Beach is 4.25. It doesn’t cost you any extra to have up to four shots of espresso, and only .65 to use almond milk. They also had free hazelnut syrup on their counter. You can make your latte a hazelnut latte for no additional cost. They also had agave nectar, which most coffee shops do not have. Beyond the drink itself everything else in this place was also great. I love the look of the place. It’s very spacious with lots of seating. The staff were very friendly, and seem like they really enjoy working there. They also have some good looking food. I didn’t have anything to eat, but I will next time!

Friendly workers, decent coffee and overall a nice environment. They also offer Wifi which is always a plus. Came here around 8am on a sunday and there was a line, while it did move fast, the location was packed with people and the every seat was filled so had to do a take out. Not so bad considering it’s right next to Ocean Beach and SF Zoo. I got Tsunami hot sub(Or Tsumani as it is written on the POS system during checkout, kind of funny typo. The sub was pretty good, tasty as well. The coleslaw that opt to get instead of chips was decent, it wasn’t spectacular. Also had white mocha with whipped cream to go with my morning and that was good. For both white mocha and Tsunami sub, it cost $ 15, kind of pricey honestly. Overall not a bad place, I would come back but not something I would always frequent mainly due to the prices but again it’s a nice establishment.

Super friendly and chatty cashier, good coffee, clean bathroom, decent Wifi. Good number of tables and chairs, though they’re pretty small. Get ready to make good use of your headphones, I had several people camped out for a few hours, making consecutive phone calls. Walk down to Ocean Beach before or after and watch some surfers attempting to catch the waves.

Java by the beach? First things first: This place is shockingly expensive(for someone from Europe)… Sandwiches for ten bucks? Wow… The classic brewed coffee doesn’t pack a lot of punch, but okay and a large cup will only set you back three bucks. Apart from that, it could use some cleaning & has nearly no seating due to it’s weird layout and tiny tables in the back. On the Plus side, it’s directly across from the Zoo’s entrance & the wifi is strong enough to work with. But honestly? This really is not the nicest place… I’d guess their main income is the location, otherwise I highly doubt they’d survive!

The first time I came to visit my friend in his beautiful city, he took me here for sandwiches about a year ago. It’s right next to the beach side and beautiful. He mentioned that it gets packed, but when we arrived it wasn’t too bad, yet. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and it came with chips. The sandwich was immense. He gobbled his sandwich up. My sandwich was okay, nothing mesmerizing. Service was good and we were on our way.

Java Beach is a neighborhood gem and because of its prime location, is also popular for tourists or anyone visiting Ocean Beach or the SF Zoo. We are lucky enough to live just a few blocks away, so Java Beach is a great place for us to walk to for breakfast, lunch or coffee. Stopped by this morning for brunch. There was constantly a line out the door, but we still found that seating was available inside and outside. Since it was a beautiful day(without fog), we nabbed a table outside. It’s a casual spot where you help yourself to the utensils and waters. The line moved quickly at the ordering counter. Cashier was super duper friendly. Food was also ready in a matter of minutes. You pick up the plates yourself and dropped them off when you’re finished. Enjoyed our meal without any fuss. Food is simple and satisfying. –Smoked Salmon Bagel($ 7.50): Served with your choice of bagel. I chose poppy seed today. Could have been better if more lox was packed in there but god enough for me. –San Patricio($ 10): Huge sando filled with chunks of chicken breast, avo, lettuce, jack cheese and onions on cibatta roll. Served with your choice of kettle chips or cole slaw. The sando was a huge portion packed with incredibly fresh ingredients. Overall, highly recommend this local spot. They have the basics done well — baked breakfast pastries, granola/yogurt/fruit bowls, bagel sammies, cold and hot sammies and salads. If you’re a coffee person, they got you covered. Could be a little pricey on the daily but weekend or occasional visits won’t break the bank. It’s all about the location!

Came here on a sunny afternoon for some brunch because I wanted to take my pup out. I tried the bonfire delight and the tsunami sandwich which were alright, nothing special. I also had a swirl cone which was yummy. Although the food was nothing to die for, what I loved about this place is the vibe. The workers and people were friendly and easy to talk to. I got to chit chat with a bunch of dog lovers while my pup played with his new doggy friends!

After a day spent at the zoo or sitting alongside the beach, Java Beach is one of the few places you can stop by to grab something to drink or have a quick bite to eat. Given this location, the café has a pretty laid back vibe, as the staff is pretty easy going and the customers range from young adults working on their laptops to parents bringing their kids after a day at the beach. This place has always been solid in my opinion — nothing extraordinary, but nothing terrible either. The coffee has never blown me away, as it seems pretty«eh» in my opinion. The food here is also pretty decent, as they serve pretty good sandwiches and salads. Just beware that this place can get pretty busy because of 1) its location, and 2) its pretty limited seating. Also, for some reason, their tables and chairs always seem to be a little sticky… so if you’re the type to be bothered by that, this is just a heads up. Overall though, this isn’t a bad place to come to if you need a bite to eat or need some coffee. Whether you’re stopping by here to get some shade from the sun or to avoid the inevitable fog that’s rolling in(most likely the latter), Java Beach is always an option.

Even though I was only here for a brief moment, I really liked the atmosphere here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a nice little café that sold coffee, pastries, sandwiches, toast, ice cream, etc. I was actually just hiding out in the café because it was cold out and I was waiting for someone. After a while, I was dying from hunger so I bought a blueberry muffin $ 2.75. There wasn’t a lot of blueberries in it but the top of the muffin tasted good. All the sandwiches and bagels looked amazing. The place definitely smelled delicious. Will come to this café the next time I’m close by!

This is where we head for breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning together. We also love to bring friends from out of town because the location can’t be beat. It’s just a short walk from Ocean Beach, so on sunny mornings it’s so wonderful to eat outside and then amble on down the street to admire the ocean. What’s great: * Love those women that work there. I’m a big fan of cute girls with positive attitudes, and it seems that’s all they hire. Can’t remember the last time I saw any guys working there so if I’ve missed them, my apologies. Not that I don’t love guys too, but hey, estrogen just squirms its way into my heart a little easier on a slow weekend morning. * Expect deliciousness. I’ve never ordered anything there that wasn’t delish. I noticed that some previous Unilocalers have had problems with their orders being messed up but I’ve been there at least twenty times and that has never happened to me. * Coffee bar, baby! They always have at LEAST four big towers of different coffees, and no matter what your way of preparing your coffee they’ll have the condiment of your choice for FREE. None of this«extra 50 cents for soymilk.» Nope. They’ve got stevia, splenda, the blue, the pink, the white, the brown sugar, the agave nectar. Skim, 2%, whole, cream, soy, almond, you name it. Pour it on in. * Outdoor seating. On a beautiful day it’s so splendid to look down the street and see the ocean and soak in the warm sun. Sure, during peak times you might get stuck with a table around the corner in the shade, but it’s still nice. *Location location! Within walking distance to the zoo and right down from the beach. I’ve never been to the other location and I don’t plan on it. This one suits me just fine. We drive all the way from San Bruno for this place about once a month. * Wide variety of selections. Whatever you’re in the mood for and whether you’re vegan, raw foodist, paleo or diabetic sugar+meat-lover they’ve got an option for you. * Kid friendly. Kids love this place and people love to bring them since it’s right next to the zoo. This is one of the few places I’m exposed to the lil’ tykes, and it’s always funny to listen to little kid conversations, so that’s part of the entertainment I guess. * Great place to work. They have wi-fi and it’s cozy inside, so bring a laptop and pull up a chair. * USUALLY great parking, for San Francisco. Unless there’s some kind of event going on at the zoo, and then forget about it. * Dog friendly. Bring fido, because you can always eat outdoors with him/her. What’s less than great, but hey: * Slow service. It just is. I’ve never NOT had to wait in line, and once out of five times there’s no seat because it’s packed. But all good things in life require a little patience, right? * Hella crowded at peak times. And people can get cranky about you coming in and out of the door to get more water or bus your table. Probably because they’ve been waiting in line for ten minutes and they keep getting bumped. Crowded has always been a good sign to me, though, and something worth tolerating. * Outdoor seating. Yes, it’s good on sunny days, but of course this is also right next to Daly City in That Part of San Francisco, so it’s usually foggy. And that means it’s cold. When the seating is all taken up inside you’re forced to huddle and shiver at the outside tables in the grey, wet, pea-soup fog. * Kid friendly. So if you’re out for a romantic date or trying to work on your laptop, expect the occasional scream or picky eater complaining loudly. But hey, they look cute so calm down. * Bus your own table. Yup, gotta clean up after yourself. Which means some people don’t. So expect to occasionally have to bus your own AND somebody else’s table if you want a seat. * Less than sanitary at times. A previous reviewer mentioned a lot of crap on the floors, and that is accurate. There are always all kinds of scraps of dirt or paper napkin or food all over the place. This may just be a symptom of people bussing their own table, towing dogs and kids, and running in and out for various reasons; but if you’re a stickler for cleanliness, just don’t look at the floor. So for me the good definitely outweighs the bad. The ambiance is warm and jovial and the décor is very beach-y. It’s a relaxed place for families, bikers at the end or in the middle of their ride, developers/writers/university students, and even tourists. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop on by and give it a try!

Love love this place. It is by the beach and there’s plenty of parking! Double stars just for that cuz parking is ridicilous in SF! Now onto the food, i got the San Patricio and its HUGEEEE i was full after eating half and had to give the rest to my friend. I also got Arnorld Palmer and it was more on the sour side but still OK, i’d probably get the ice tea next time. Oh downside is that there aren’t many seating areas and it filled up fast since people come here in the laptops and stay for awhile. Unless its sunny outside then they have tables outside too! Can’t wait to be back and try their salads!
