Well… As many places recently, due to the bad economy, have bitten the dust here in San Francisco. the Bridge Cinema had just bitten the dust only the day after Boxing day(27th of December) last year. It looks as virtually all the business are presently out of this one storey building now, that this building may be demolished. Don’t know for sure. Wouldn’t surprise me that yet another multi-storey ‘Chinese Condo’ will take its place! so sad! Try the pastries and food across the street at the Cinderella Bakery and also the new Yuubi Japanese restaurant right across the street on 6th Avenue and Balboa st. Cheers!

Ah went by today and noticed the whole shop was cleared out. They’ve closed up for good. RIP Javaholics.

Judging on what I saw and past reviews, looks like they stepped it up. Pastry selection looked tempting; pumpkin cheesecake, fruit tarts, lava cakes and more. Plus your standard coffee shop fare, croissants, bagels, cookies, muffins, etc. They have an ATM now, but remain cash only. Plenty of bottled juices and even beer and wine(with Happy Hour 4 – 6). My white mocha($ 3.10) was good. Not mind-blowing, but solid. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Almost gave 4 stats but the radio and TV were both blaring. It was a little overwhelming.

Good place to get some work done on a weekday. Free wifi and a couple outlets to plug in. It’s not very crowded or noisy and the staff is very friendly.

Good place to kill time and do quick work on your laptop. Quick and FREE Wi-Fi. Floors and toilet not the cleanest, and you need to request for the key at the counter(for customers only). Coffee is ok, breads are so-so. Croissant kinda greasy for me. Dying indoor plant right at the entrance. Corner location; close to Golden Gate park and deYoung Museum. Outdoor seating available.

We had some time to kill while waiting for the de Young to open and popped in for some coffee. Nothing spectacular to report other than there are beers in their coolers for grab and go. We ordered a coffee and two almond croissants. The nasty stained couches kinda turned me off too. CASHONLY!

Fulfilling my coffee addiction! This place is okay especially for a neighborhood coffee place. I ordered the small white mocha w/soy and carrot cake. I actually like my carrot cake and it was a decent size for $ 1.25 something. Plus my iced white mocha w/soy was pretty big for a size small cause its similar to a grande at starbucks. Although I wasn’t impressed with the taste of their soy white mocha. I felt like I had better. I only came here to fulfill my coffee cravings(my unexplainable coffee withdrawals). Its quite decent and a nice place to socialize. Not so loud like starbucks so you can get some studying done at least! There are plenty of tables and 2 couches and 2 computers available if you don’t have a laptop with you. This is nice for residential people within the area but I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to get coffee here or chill here with some friends.

2 and a half stars. Free WiFi is cool. But I feel like everytime I go in here somethng is off, one time the espresso macheine was not working. One time they were out of coffee? Sometimes the bariastas can be rude or just kinda assy. there is never parking. and it is a little too pricey for what they are offering. but it is there. and sells coffee. and morning yum yums. and has free wi fi and has some dirty couches that I swear i have seen in the back of a few pornos.

This place is a casual coffee spot with a local feeling. Indoor as well as outdoor seating is offered. Local artist display their work here too. For a low-key alternative to Starbucks and places like that Javaholics can be the place. Oh and keep in mind, it is a cash only café. No ATM either.

This is my go-to breakfast bagel and latte weekend spot. The service is always friendly and the food is good. I really like the coffee here, too; however, I don’t like strong coffee so it may be a bit weak for some. There is lots of seating, both tables and couches. Very laid back. It’s near Golden Gate park and the 44 picks up right outside, which is convenient.

Well, I have recently moved to the neighborhood. With little choice of coffee shops and a plethora of Asian food to choose from, I decided to check out this spot while heading the work in the morning. There isn’t a lot to say about this large spot with a mixture of tables, some pastries for sale, and moderately friendly staff. Just wondering, though… I’ve been there at least 10 times now for 7:30AM coffee to take with me on the morning commute, and have yet to be offered a frequent coffee drinker card. I just noticed them sitting next to the cash register(cash only, too… wahh wahhh).

Javaholics is good enough if you’re living nearby… coffee is fine, place is clean… good enough. I’ve come here to do work on the weekend, and it was fine. The place feels a bit like the semi-spartan cafes that you experience on a college campus. A quick note is that the place is a tad old school… there are only a few electrical outlets available for use. You may want to bring an extension cord. Side note… not to be snide, but really… I can’t believe someone wrote«a dull café for dull people.» Sure there are artsy-fartsy cafes in the city that spend way too much on their décor, but can you be any more heartless about your local small business? Bad form, dude. It’s that family’s bread and butter — you even see the owner’s kiddies help with stocking the drink fridge. Don’t be a hater.

They make their coffee with the gunk left over after you put out a campfire, and the iced version isn’t much better. But bloody hell, this place is just so close to my house and bus stop.

At an earlier point, Javaholics was really just not worth the time to review. The fairly large space had a lot of potential, but for some reason it remained drab and barren; the food and drink were likewise mediocre at best. A neighborhood café where I’d sometimes go to grab a bagel when in a rush or to study in a convenient public place, it was, plainly… forgettable. However, I think that now this little coffee shop may be on the rise. At some point(I’m not even sure when, since it had been months since I’d last stopped by) they covered every free inch of wall space with cool work by local artists. A staff member told me they rotate the art in and out monthly. Another great improvement is the wifi which is now free for the first 2 hours… the #1 reason why I almost never came here before(except when I was studying for the GRE and actually [begrudgingly] needed to rid myself of the distraction of internet for a little while). The menu seems more or less the same as always(read: nothing spectacular), but they DO have every color of Gatorade under the sun. Random… but, cool I guess. I think a few live performances every now and then and some standout food and imbibe could really get this place crack-a-lackin’. Keep strivin’ to attract the caffeinated regulars your place is named for, Javaholics!

I have say a three star review for this place is pretty dead-on, and has a typical Unilocal snob, I would have never visited this place save for the fact that it was around 40 degrees tonight when I was waiting half a block down the street and a bathroom + a hot soy latte just sounded too delicious to pass up, even if this place got barely mediocre reviews. Around 8:30 pm on a Thursday, there was basically no one in this shop, however, you’d be surprised to know they’re open until 10 pm every night of the week. That’s pretty late for a nice little cozy coffee place with lots of tables, chairs and wi-fi to boot. The barista was friendly and not intimating nor sexist like some people described here and honestly the coffees weren’t bad. I got a soy latte with two shots and it tasted like a normal latte. Of course nothing impressive and the gourmet coffee addict in me was not screaming for joy, but for what it was, it did the job. They also have a huge variety of other drinks but I was definitely having a coffee moment. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to make this a stop for me again should I find myself waiting out in the cold for yet another amazing culinary experience of the sushi kind. Beware, CASHONLY!
