Jim helped me rehab a shoulder injury from weightlifting. Not only did he help me get back my range of motion, he showed me ways to improve my exercise technique and develop a more solid core. He is incredibly patient, kind and provides just enough guidance to get through the very challenging first weeks. Highly recommend him.

I’ve been to many, many bodyworkers, masseuses, physical therapists, and chiropractors over the years, for a variety of musculoskeletal issues, including carpal tunnel-related wrist problems, neck and upper back issues, sciatica, etc., and Jim Donak is the best by a significant margin. He essentially cured my long-standing wrist pain problem(I’m a writer and type a lot) by showing me how to do a common exercise, slightly modified. Adiós, wrist pain! It is no exaggeration to say that Jim’s knowledge of the human musculoskeletal system — bones, muscles, tendons, bursae, soft connective tissue, fascia, and so on — is encyclopedic. Seriously, he knows his stuff like no one else I’ve ever met, including a number of medical doctors. Plus, he’s a great guy — intelligent, great sense of humor, interested in talking about whatever interests you, or not talking at all if you just prefer to be quiet while you’re on his table. Jim knows what questions to ask to figure out what ails you, and you can call or email him if you have questions about your treatment; he always responds quickly and courteously. And his work is not painful like some of the deep tissue masseuses out there. He’ll do deep tissue work if you want it, but he won’t go beyond your limits. Jim works out of a really nice space in Bernal Heights; very relaxing, with free herbal tea while you wait, and there’s a great café on the corner if you arrive early and want to enjoy a snack or read the paper. Five stars aren’t enough, but that’s all they have here on Unilocal,so, five stars for Jim Donak!
