Jack Johnson is the bomb! He is what every body should be, when they hit it big and start making the bucks! Giving back and being an impeccable environmentalist! Back in June 2010, it was announced that Jack Johnson was going to donate 100% of profits from his 2010 «To The Sea» tour to charity. Meaning, beyond the tour expenses and costs-​ALL of the money Jack Johnson makes from «To The Sea» goes straight to good causes and charities that support the environment, arts education, and music education. How awesome is that?
One of the charities the Foundation is looking to assist is Surfrider. As part of the «All At Once» campaign, Jack Johnson’s «To The Sea» tour is collaborating with over 150 community groups focusing on plastic initiatives-​such as Surfrider’s «Rise Above Plastics» campaign. There are other great collaborations with community groups on sustainable local food systems, environmental education, oceans & watersheds mitigation, tree planting and other hands-​on projects! Surfrider San Diego is soliciting donations to their group by offering a chance to win tickets to Jack’s October 9^th show in San Diego when you become a member. All donations will be matched by Jack!. What an outstanding proposition!
You can also receive tickets to his shows by volunteering to man a table or booth for one of the charities that will be advocating at the concert. I am so right there with that! Talk about participatory environmentalism! I cannot say enough about how wonderful Jack Johnson and the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation is!
Jack’s tour buses run on biodiesel fuel! His Mango Tree Music Studio in Hawaii is solar-​powered! Jack lives a low-​profile, non-​rock star lifestyle. Once the BP disaster struck, Jack was right on it with the «To The Sea» tour teaming up with «Save Our Gulf» and the Gulf Waterkeeper’s to support oil spill recovery efforts on the Gulf Coast. Donatitions to one of the 7 Gulf Waterkeeper’s in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama will be matched up to $ 2500 by the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation.
